It does--I just bought some! I still have cashmere scarves from more than ten years ago that I got for $50 each and they are such great quality. @@r.c.7779
I believe this is their business model. Same with J crew. They create the illusion that their prices are off by always having discounts, but they ‘discount’ their stuff to what it normally is. Not saying they have bad clothes (as a man I wear a ton of their stuff), it’s just their business model.
Banana Republic is one of the best places to go to for classic, good quality items for a reasonable price. The best time to go is when they have sales - THAT’S where you get some bargains. I got two linen shirts from BR at end of season for $12 each. Since I live in a warm climate where I practically wear linen year round, this was a bargain.
You have to be careful at Factory because they tend to use more low quality synthetic fibers, especially on their opening price point stuff. That being said their cotton tees, polos, 100% merino wool items tend to be great at a fraction of the cost. A great example right now is the cozy turtleneck (a cotton, poly, acrylic blend) which is somehow $25 more than the 100% sustainably sourced merino wool turtleneck. Like what?!
quality of factory is ok at least clothes were not shrinking by dryer I don't understand why everyone knows canadian widely use dryer but most clothes selling here will shrink
I used to work at the BR at Yorkdale - the tea at that store was INSANE. Managers making out in store rooms with each other, stylists doing drugs in the employee bathroom, CRAZY stuff hahaha
@@panicfanatd you’re right! I usually don’t buy soda but I was craving some Diet Coke and was absolutely shocked at the prices for a 6 pack of small cans! I didn’t buy it for that reason.
The thing is if they actually had affordable prices all the time instead of sales.. well I believe it was one of the big department stores, perhaps JC Penny, that did this and then promptly lost huge sales numbers because people began to perceive their store as "low quality".
idk…. My last few things from BR (cotton dress + rompers) have a bunch of loose threads and the straps on both broke very quickly. I don’t have a problem eventually mending, but it was needed immediately. BR and Gap use to have pretty good clothes at a nicer than fast fashion range, but now they seem to be no better & still keep the price. Can’t say that I’m looking for leather or silk either, ig
Yup, they've got good stuff if you hit the sales. My only negative is that their. clothes are just a bit too boxy for mens. They deserve credit for being a staple mall brand that can actually produce clothes with decent materials and not all synthetic.
Yes, I do too just on major sales, I also shop for basics at Banana Republic Factory, on line , I rarely make a return. The size 10 is perfect for my body. The quality is good.
I thought about you today as I was shopping at my local BR. I bought a henly with faux shell buttons, 91% cotton, and 9% elastane. It was $55, so I checked all the stitching. I flipped it inside out and looked at the buttonhole stitches. Overall, it seemed well made. Before I purchase a second color, I want to see how well it washes😅
I like BR! but it makes me angry how they either sometimes don't even offer the XXS size or that the XXS size sells out the fastest. So, yes, I would like to wait for a sale, but usually, by the time there is a sale, XXS is gone
BR is where you go when you've done everything else and it dawns on you they still exist. I always walk out with something because the sales are great and so's the quality. Stay away from their fragrances though - it might smell good in the store - but it won't at home.
I bought the softest leather baseball jacket from them in the 90s. I ripped a hole in the sleeve years later and BR still gave me store credit for it. I actually shop their Factory store a lot these days.
Hack option, ask one of the employees on several dates and eventually become comfortable enough to ask for the friends and family discount list they get. Not sure if they still do it but I was on one before.
I used to love BR in late 90s/early 2000s. I was a size 4, then they started messing with vanity sizing. Over the years I stayed the same size by measurements but slid down to 2. Then many brands including BR made up 0, which made the news and cocktail party jokes. Now it’s 00P, and many times I’m swimming in the fabric or the fit in the waist is huge especially in dresses. I gave up on BR and went to J.Crew as their 00/XXS is a more flattering fit with proper waist to hip.
Does BR still have problematic outsourcing? I stopped buying from Gap, Old Navy, and BR when they refused to take accountability for the Bangladesh factory fire incident where 27 died and over 100 were injured in 2010 and child labor issues. :(
Yeah - They get really good pricing as a group - because it’s apart of Gap and Old Navy - big bulk in fabric means price breaks from the manufacturers and better quality - Kinda what Club Monaco used to benefit from with Ralph but they no longer own them 😢
But if they are selling them on sale like that the quality can’t be that good since they are still making money when it’s 1/4 of the price they originally priced it at
Yup, I'm pretty sure their sale items are lower quality. I tried to return something I bought online instore and they said it was from "banana republic factory" and I couldn't return it to a "Banana republic". Plus there were like 5 other people in line and everyone was returning something
@@rosie20098get over it, you are not even informed ob what you buying. You bought the items from the outlet store. I guess stupidly is really underrated
I shop BR factory outlet for great prices and decent quality. My biggest pet peeve about BR is their vanity sizing. An S fits like an M, and they hardly ever carry XS or XXS. As a 5'3 110 lbs person I feel excluded by their sizing. Petite section is limited and the propotions are off for me.
It is not really "on sale" because the markups are enormous and BR is just lowering the original prices to the more saleable range to move the product out before new products comes in.
i got a $300 cashmere sweater from BR for 50 bucks! their full price stuff is honestly a ripoff, just wait for the sales!
Their cashmere doesn’t go on sale though?

exactly, that's marketing 101 if it's always on sale, there is no sale you're paying full price
It's Kohl's coded
it is a pretty common business model actually so I am not surprised
Yes. They sell full price "on sales" and overpriced on normal sales. There's no loss for them.

Ahhh I was hoping you were going to talk about the quality of their knits/sweaters!
I feel like if it goes on that big of a sale that often, it’s just over priced which turns me off entirely.
