I am so proud to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 🙏🏼❤️ Happy that my son Damien is there serving his brothers and sisters.
my Stake, the Hilton Head Stake, from Georgia and part from South Carolina are scheduled to be there in 2 weeks. Great opportunity to serve! This will make my 8th storm cleanup. You never forget the experience.
Being in the church, you don't know your impact on the community until you help like this. What we may feel is our duty is someone else's miracle. The tears are genuine, and the smiles light up the day and the life. May we all do a little more to help those brothers and sisters who may not know the gospel, but can see it in action.
I love being a member of this wonderful Church of Jesus Christ LDS 🤍🤍🤍 thank you, brothers and sisters volunteers there who are providing our neighbors with love and support.
The willingness to serve, along with the organization and supplies, never stops amazing me. It’s like hundreds of worker bees getting the job done. It’s a testament to our faith how quickly we can mobilize. That, in and of itself, is a miracle.
Excellent coverage of this clean-up effort. It gives a clear understanding of how much volunteer workers are needed. God bless those helping and those being helped.
We mucked out a home for an elderly woman in Fort Myers who waited out the hurricane. As she could see the water rising up on the outside of her sliding glass door, she gathered her most precious belongings and got on top of the kitchen counter. As the water continued to rise, she grabbed a stool and sat on it on top of her counter. Shortly after the water rose above the kitchen counter, the refrigerator floated up and tipped over, creating a wave that knocked her off the stool, counter, and into the water. All her belongings were soaked, even her clothes. Her table floated with the top just barely above the water level, and the only possession (other than some towels at the top of the linen closet) that didn't get wet was sitting on the table. Her mother's Bible was not destroyed, but was preserved. She took this as a sign that God was mindful of her needs and everything would be okay. She was in such high spirits and so grateful for the help, which I found remarkable considering she lost pretty much all her possessions save one very much treasured Bible. As she showed me how the Bible sat with pages open and passages highlighted, just as it was when the flood came, I could see it not just treasured, but thoroughly studied as well. When we left, she gave the most beautiful and sincere prayer. I will never forget how hope in Christ gave a woman peace and strength during a time of devastation.
There are so many good people in the world
