Can you do least used station on F line
@@kevonnoveloo8319 he did that 7 months ago
Ironically this is the station I use to get to Manhattan from the Bronx on the 2 or 5 train after taking the Bx39 bus. I didn't know it was the least used station on the 2 train. Very interesting
My mother has lived a few blocks from this and another station in your series, Morris Park, since 2002. I love stuff about the NYC subway system, so happy to have found this acct!
The middle track is also served by 5 trains that run to Gun Hill Road, then the train goes out of service and heads to the 239th Yard (2/5)
Those 5 trains were rerouted to the local tracks north of East 180th St. years ago so that riders from all the local stations on the line north of that point could get a single seat ride on the 5. The trains usually run in service to Nereid Ave. and then to the 239th St. yard. They do run express on the section from East 180th St. to East 149th St. & Third Ave.
@@1575murrayThere should be a thru-express all the way to Wakefield although I'd elect to make it the 2 rather than the 5.
The Bronx Park East station isn't even located at Bronx Park East at all. (Bronx Park East starts about two blocks north of the station). It's actually located at the intersection of Birchall Avenue and Sagamore Street.
I mentioned that in the video. I guess it was just named BPE to be more familiar to people, so they know i t is in the area.
They call it " Bronx Park, East" because it is east of Bronx Park.🤔
Lol rundown area? It's mostly residential love the comment of the person who got scared getting off here by accident...calm down people it isn't the South Bronx...it's a relatively safe area
There is some revenue service on the middle track during the week (mid morning and pm rush hour) when some uptown 5 trains run express between east 180 street and Gun Hill Road. At Gun Hill Road, 5 trains are taking out of service and go to the yard pass Nereid Ave to avoid congestion on local tracks for 2 or 5 trains going up White Plains Road during those times.
AM rush hour 5 trains bypass the station starting September 13th, restoring the 1950s service pattern.
@@pbatommy Haven't heard anything and nothing has been posted. How did you find out?
This channel is fire my guy also I don’t think they run the 5 up to nereid anymore now imma pay attention for it
Thanks. Also, they do. I live on the Lexington Avenue Line, and constantly see (5)'s to Nereid during Rush Hours.
I'm enjoying your series and looking forward to the lettered lines. As for this station, I once used it in 1999 when I first moved to NYC. I wanted to go to the Bronx Zoo and either the guidebook I consulted was wrong, or I got confused, but I got off here rather than West Farms Square. As soon as I left the station, I realized the mistake. The area around the station was dire, and I see it appears to be the same. The day I was there, there was an abandoned, burned out car, and a dead cat lying on the sidewalk. Needless to say, I went back to the station and got on the platform to wait for a downtown/Manhattan bound train.
Jesus. I wouldn't say this area is exactly the same, but yeah, it's still pretty run down.
Really enjoying these videos. I hope you continue making great NYC subway content.
It’s in a mainly residential area. So that’s why this station isn’t used. But I wonder if Intervale Av was a close contender for the least used station on the 2/5.
* isn’t used much
Intervale Av was supposed to remain closed after the second fire. (Massive fare evasion). The neighorhood was on the way up, so the residents protested the closure.
i've only used this station once
most of the time i usually get on or off at pelham parkway since i live closer to there
however on one visit in 2019 back from 174th street, we decided to get off at this station likely for mail
Back in my high school days my mother told me never to get off or on at this station because of the fact that it’s somewhat deserted and a little sketchy. I only got on this station only if I walked with friends.
I love your videos. U are very informative about mass transit. U earned my subscription and likes for most videos.
I remember back in the days I had a friend who lived on Van Nest and White Plains Rd. So I used to take the 2 Train from 233rd Street Station to Bronx Park East and walked down White Plains Rd. to Van Nest. It was much quicker than taking the bus 🚌 in my opinion. Not waiting for the BX 39 Bus at Gun Hill Rd that's for sure!
I used this station to transfer to the bus when I was in high school. The station is pretty clean though you have a point about the neighborhood being mostly bare. It's the station closest to Bronx Park, hence it's name, the location of the Bronx Borough Commission let for the Parks Department. It would have thought the employees at Bronx Park alone would generate ridership to this station.
4:57 - They want to look out the front window.
Cool
Interesting. This is real close to the Morris Park 5 train station. And they are planning on having a Metro North Morris Park station once they extend it to co-op city.
By the way, the Dyer Ave #5 can be seen from this station. It actually skips this station unlike when the "A" and "G" splits.
Yeah, the PSA extension of MNR will have a Morris Park Station. While it would be near the (5)'s station, it won't be within walking distance, and would be more near Westchester Sq (6), and Tremont Avenue.
Also, I remember seeing some (5) Trains passing by here while getting the footage. It was pretty cool to see.
@@MysticTransit Thank you for the info. Anyway, by the way the IRT 5 pass through there, you can tell that viaduct was made for something much heavier and more powerful. While the viaduct traditionally built for the subway is heard and felt more noticeably!
well i once used this station often
When I used to go to Bronx Zoo, I prefer to get off at Pelham Parkway on (2) train, use south exit and I prefer Bronx Zoo gate entrance by BxM11.
Is this inspired by Geoff Marshall?
Yes.
@@MysticTransit he is amazing. It's a shame he doesn't do meet-ups if you went to London.
Epic, what is the logo at 4:00?
That is the logo for the E 180 St Yard.
The logo is a R-110B NTT Train
769 thousand 69 haha
The area is not rundown @mystic
It is an okay station
Yes it not used a lot
i think they could bring the (9) train back because is could go from E 180 st Bx of the (2) and (5)and then go local on the 7th ave line
Not a good idea. It would delay 5 Express Trains with it having to relay at E180 St.
The whole point of the (9) is to be an alternative for the (1). A lot of work would have to be made to bring it back, including an upgrade to 125 for Exp Service, and an Underground EXP level between 145 St and Dyckman. Otherwise, it will never come back.

@@MysticTransit ok that Makes sense
@@MysticTransit Then again in rush hour the (9) could be the Bronx Express and the (5) could be the Lcl Like the (2)
There isn't enough capacity along the White Plains Line for 5 Trains to run local during Rush Hours. There would be delays.
Bronx park east always been a dead station since I was 8 years old and I’m 34 now
Is Briarwood populated? Every time I get off there to go to Kew Gardens I feel like it's dead. I get out late though but the Kew Gardens and Van Wyck are usually more populated.
its funny how i just went to new york today boy new jersey is boring
The express track shouldn't even be there, If it isn't used a much.
