What an excellent and very affordable idea for portability and convenience! Adding a strainer is such a smart idea to separate "trash" when you dump the gray water from the bucket...thanks so much for sharing! Lisa🙂
Thanks for this sink tip! I can't wait to start my vanlife. Alittle scared to start. But I have a minivan and everything I need. Thanks for the inspiration
Make a Salad or Pasta and leave it in the strainer, the bucket could catch the excess drippings. All kinds of possibilities with this set up. The bucket could be a shower bucket as well or part of a water capture system when it rains.
Smart. Should also add an option of a bowl with no holes to replace the strainer. Using that would be the equivalent of putting a stopper in a normal sink and the strainer is like a sink with the stopper removed.
❤I would much rather carry the 1 gallon bucket of waste water than schlep a 5 gallon bucket to dispose of he gray water. The strainer can allow clean, washed dishes to drain. Good thinking! 🌞🌴🌟🌵🌼🍀
I'm not a commenter...BUT Ohhhhh my goodness..LOVE this!!! I'm a vanlifer in a ford transit connect and actually sitting in the dollar tree parking lot as I'm commenting this..... I've been using a smaller bathroom trashcan in a similar way so I already have water jug and pump. This set up will be way more useful.. Thank you for sharing:)
Great idea Amanda! I was already using the bucket and I was going to get one of those big Automotive funnels that have a really wide mouth at the bottom but I like this one better cuz then it'll catch any food or anything like that.
Brilliant idea! Sure will save me lots of wood working, plumbing and expense. Especially since I'm going to begin my Van adventures in cooler Months -so just for camping until I decide if Solo Van life is for me. Much appreciate your advice and CH. Much joy, safe travels and peace.
I would only use the bucket for washing my hands since the colander is unnecessary for that task. I very much like the idea of using the calendar for washing fruits and vegetables over the bucket.
Thank you. Yes this is an amazing solution. Why I didn't think of it idk. I have stressed a lot about not having a sink when I was homeless and living in my van trying to do the nomad thing. What a stress reliever. Especially because of cost. I'm on such a low budget.
Super creative approach to such a concept in demand! Would love the option to be able to wash things more frequently! Great idea! Keep making memories & adventure on! ~Karen & Shannon WOY
I like your ideas. I'm not afraid to wash dishes all together in one bowl, so this won't work for me. But i can see how that is soothing to your OCD anxiety thing. 💕👌
@@AdventuringWithAmanda I use a sink to HOLD water-washing my body parts, washing dishes, clothes. Of course I see the benefit to washing veggies, then maybe I’d peel/cut the veggies on a cutting board, dump in strainer, put over bucket and rinse. Just wondered if you had something else in mind. Love your channel!
@@metroteacherI don't like to hold water to do dishes. That's very icky. I want it to drain. So this way, my silverware won't fall into the gross water. It's very simple.

You are the Einstein of vanlife. Lol
Right? 😂
One of the things holding me back from van life is the running water issue. This is the best solution I have seen. Thank you so much for sharing this.

You can do it! Once you start, you won't wanna stop. 😘😘

Absolutely!!

Exactly my thoughts. Stainless steel salad bowl from dollar store. Drill a hole in it and use a rubber drain stopper.
That's brilliant!! 😊 and you can wash fruits and vegetables easily. I like it. 😊👍🏻🙋♀️
That's a winner of an idea Amanda! Good one!
great idea and great video. I like the idea for peeling veggies and rinsing. And you can always remove the strainer if you need to.
Thank you!!!

I thought about a funnel also, until I found the strainer! 😍😍

Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing.
Simple is better! Well done! I sometimes consider buying an electric water dispenser. But I think my 56oz handheld pump sprayer is fine...
This is brilliant!

I don't have OCD. What an incredibly disrespectful comment. I'm just trying to give people budget ideas. 😳😳
Jeez!! Feeling organized and having a routine does not equal OCD.
Hihi .. I am a new subscriber to your channel. You done any truck stop camping?
Lots!
hi there, after 11 months how is it holding up? i’m hesitant because of the negative reviews on the battery life. thanks 😊
Are you referring to the electric water dispenser?
Whats the purpose of the strainer?
Probably a drain
Keep stuff from falling in the nasty water like any other sink...
🫶🏼🇫🇷👍
What’s the purpose of the strainer? Seems unnecessary. 🤷♀️
Keep stuff from falling in, cleaning/peeling veggies. All sorts of stuff. Just like any other regular sink...lol.

Be better off using a big bowl with a hole punched. Too many holes in the strainer
This is nice
That’s great idea 💡
