I love birdie balls. Helps with ball striking. Impact sounds good. That turbine sound helps me know I hit it properly. And I can get full swing practice just about anywhere
The sound is supposed to be an audio training aid if you hit it right you get the sound
Yea this no shit a spinning piece of pvc isnt going to sound like a golf ball when flying through the air. They were talking about the impact sound
@@FIFAplaya12he made multiple comments about the sound during flight that he didn’t like it. When they specifically advertise it as “you hit a clean hit if you get the sound”.
I couldn’t care less what they sound like if it feels like a golf ball that’s the important bit.
I recommend putting a hotdog inside the cylinder; then put open face buns about 40yds out. When you can land the dog in the bun you are ready for the Tour (or at least lunch).
glizzy
hahahahaha im dying
Honestly couldn’t tell the difference in the sound. You continue to make golf fun! Thanks Mr. Short Game!
I have used these for several years and they are great for yards with limited space. Allows me to practice a full swing. Also good for chipping practice toward a specific target 10-15 yards away. I think they are a good value and they don’t wear out.
I have some birdie balls that were sent to me when I ordered a putting mat. I think the sound you picked up with mics was pretty close at impact, but from experience, the sound during flight, like you said is very different. Kinda fun sound. Because of the limited distance, I used to take them to my favorite parks and neighborhoods and imagine nine holes to play. Your channel is the most down to earth, fun, and addictive Golf video's to watch on RUclips. I've been giving my thumbs up for a couple years now.Great work. Keep it up.
Cheers Matt.
Yo
Just a heads up. The Birdie ball is supposed to go the same distance with full swings. Also they were created to work on your swing and making contact with the ball in non-range environments (local park or big backyard). The contact sounds really close to a real ball. Thank you for what you do. I’m a new golfer and I really enjoy your content
I have been hitting birdie balls for the last 3 months and it has helped my practice advance significantly. I can video myself hitting a real object, and see how my swing path is improving. I can still slice the birdie ball with the best of'em!
Exactly... Who the heck cares if it does or doesn't sound like a Pro V1 or any other golf ball.
I hit Birdie Balls every single day for the last 2 + years. They are amazing and have definitely been part of my trending-lower handicap. Highly recommend.
Hey! Sometimes I find it hard to get to the 18 hole course and I get to a par 3 course which is cheaper for me.
Do you think I could improve driver, 3 wood and hybrid using these on the par 3 course? I also have the almost golf balls!
@@rorylane4069 , Birdie Balls aren't appropriate for actual play. They only go 35 - 40 yards, regardless of what club you hit. I think they could help you groove your 3 wood and hybrid swing. Harder to do with the driver because they are hard to tee up (need a special contraption).
John Thomas Dang every single day? I’m here in Minnesota waiting for the snow to melt so I can get back out there
@@ilikewaffles889 ...weather permitting, which means no fresh snow cover. We have had an amazingly snow-free winter though, so even on frigid days, I will run out and hit half a dozen.
the beveled edge helps encourage good ball connection.
As far as I can tell they do what they are designed to do. You get to fully swing a club without having to retrieve them at golf ball distances.
This guy is legitimately insane
It never claimed to sound like a golfball it claimed to FEEL like a golfball.
Yes it did.
Literally said it did at the very start lol
🤦🏻♂️
it says "feels like a real golfball hit this once and you will swear you are hitting a proV1"
That’s what i was thinking too, i never heard a claim about the sound , only the feel, not saying they didn’t claim the sound somewhere
I can hit low launch 7 iron shots that have a lot of spin. These things are literally the greatest practice ball on the market. 3 balls have lasted over 3 years in Michigan. I have 120 club speed and one partially cracked this week. Flies fine though. They draw and fade like a normal ball would. Where my clubface lies at impact is where the birdieball will end up, if hit on the center of the face. Buy a 3 pack and turn on some music, hit to a target and get some steps in cause these things WILL make you a better striker of the golf ball. They pop out of heavy rough if you hit the correct shot, they're tremendous
“Man I better not break a window” 😂
Our high school golf team used these 13 years ago... I love the sound of them! Lol I would recommend them to any golf team that doesn't have the funds to go to the course on a regular basis. We would line up on the basketball court and use it as our driving range.
I purchased the Birdie Ball system to introduce golf to my PE classes. It was a great addition to my curriculum; I could teach golf in the gym and I don't need a net. If you have a yard set up to practice your golf with real balls, then I guess you wouldn't need Birdie Ball. But, if you have limited space, or you don't want to spend countless $$ at the driving range, then Birdie Ball is the way to go.
Impact sounds almost exactly the same. The flight pattern for sure not. I love hitting mine in the yard with the family. We make fun challenges with them.
Sound like a ‘real’ ball to me - ‘at impact’!
They both sound the same at impact. Looks like a good training tool .. pretty durable.
Great review on the sound of these. So helpful in my decision to purchase. Who cares if they're actually helpful for practice, if they don't sound real, then NO WAY!!
Sound the same to me.
I would think that them all going the same distance is good for practice... closer together to pick them up.
You want a lot from a ball that goes no where. They shape well and you know if you have struck it well
I love my birdie balls. Got their launch pad. 10/10 will buy again.
I went from Wiffle balls to Birdie balls but I currently use Almost Golf balls. Birdie balls weight was closer to a real golf ball and felt better with full shots. I really only work on the short game so Almost Golf balls flight is better than a whiffle ball with a flight closer to the Birdie ball but with a better look.
They sound good enough for backyard practice.. if they move left, & right.. good there too. I’ve gotta get some! Another great one Matt!
So the reasons are all different for everybody. I like them to warm up with prior to playing a round. Isn't that the point? I don't spend money on a bucket of balls, I don't have time to hit a bucket usually. I hit six of these for roughly 10 mins and I'm pretty loose for the first tee. I think they are great for that reason.
You should try the Callaway foam golf balls. They have very realistic ball flight and I quite enjoy them
These have helped with drawing and fading so much...you can clearly see the spin you put.
I have 10 dozen or so. I hit these in my yard all the time. Real flight and go about 45 yards. Can go shorter or longer in wind. They feel better than any other short flight ball.
Our city Muni doesn’t have a driving range. I use the birdie balls to warm up and can hit my driver with a full swing. Beats hitting balls in a net and I get a lot of attention when I’m hitting them. All are interested and now the the golf pro is renting them for range balls. I would recommend them.
I've been using BB's for more than 2 yrs. This review is a bit harsh I think. I didn't see any junk about sounding just like a real golf ball when I bought them. I was interested in the shape they said they could create, and they definitely create shape. GREAT training for working on ball shaping. Of course the aerodynamics are completely and totally different from a real golf ball, so expecting distance and trajectory feedback is off base for the review. There is enough mass to the BB to get some feedback, unlike a foam or wiffle ball which gives zero club head feedback.
However, they are not heavy enough for really being able to assess horizontal club face contact. For instance, I tend to strike outside toward the toe, and I can't get much sense of toe mishits with the BB - however, the sound and shaping are better when center contact is made. As far as thin and fat hits, the feedback is obvious. I have a net for hitting real balls, but for working on shot shaping I hit the BB. By the way, I always opt for "factory seconds" to keep the price down.
Too funny. Not a fan of the Birdie Ball, but to each his own. Huge fan of you Matt!
I absolutely love your content dude, Your videos are a big help and they are super funny and entertaining
Also, they make a bulk pack of misprint or "blemish" pack. Way cheaper! I cant even find the bad printing on mine.
daren murray where can I find a pack of these blemish birdie balls ?
Try the Almost Golf, golf ball. Plays like a real ball with draw and fade, yet flies 1/3 rd the distance of a real ball. I built a nine hole golf course around this ball on seven acres and our family and friends had a blast.
They sound alike to me. However it also looks like it’s an effective training aid too.
Very hard to hear any difference at impact!
BTW any recommendations for a good hitting mat?? Thanks
just cut some schedule 40 pvc pipe the same length as the width about the size of a golf ball, got something just as good, but very cheap. They do work well though until you try to compress them hard, then pieces everywhere. (that is probably why they sell the little plastic launch mat) It is a wonderful way to practice draws and fades and straight shots. Thanks for the review!!! I'm sticking with pvc pipe, it's cheaper.
"lets stay cheap here" says the man with skytrack and an in ground pool. I personally really like them. They draw and fade, sound pretty close to a golf ball at impact (more than a wiffle ball), you can feel it when you hit them (more than a wiffle ball). Cost is high, but I would rather hit them than wiffle balls any day.
Got some to introduce my 4 and 8 year old to swinging the club. They help and didn’t require a lot of room. We hit them still once in awhile.
But nothing like the feel of of catching a pro v1 pure outta the middle of a mizuno mp 63.
Sweet!
Your stroke is so pure. Sad it didn’t track on the monitor. Wonder why. Was wondering if it works with the PRGR?
Thanks--I was curious about the product and you answered all the questions. And the Beagle next door will chew up anything that enters his yard. I did think the sound was amazingly close.
Have you tried the Almost Golf balls? You get the distance gap and no worry about breaking windows with the ball
Hey thanks a lot Mr Shortgame guess I’ll be hitting balls over my house this weekend!😉
Hahaha. The birdie ball ad came on when I clicked your video. Lol. Meet birdie ball! 😂😂😂😂
Lol, that's awesome.
The balls over the house sounded different, and nothing like a ProV1. Now I may be crazy, or hearing handicapped, but thru my phone, the Net shots sounded a lot alike.
I like how he said they were expensive if you lose one, does he have an issue teeing up a $3 Pro V1 and putting it in the water? What's the difference?
I use them for SW, PW. The sound is the same at impact but different in mid flight.
Definitely sound the same but you may be experiencing doubt if feel is slightly off..
So since it is flat in the front where they make contact with the club unlike a spherical golf ball the loft isn't going to change much because they are just following the swing pattern. They do look fun and I want to try them. But those orange foam rubber dimpled practice balls are still the best I think. Definitely foam over the wiffle balls
I kind of like them, actually really like them. I use them at our cabin in Ponderosa pines and other cabins with windows. When I hit a tree with a real golf ball, they go like a ball in an arcade game. I have notice different heights by club, but I'm not a good golfer. However when I top them, the all are about the same height. Thanks MSG, keep drinking that eXpresso!
Mat off bricks is sound you are getting. Move mat to Grass and try again. See sounded similar hitting into net.
Sounded the same to me at impact. Not a big fan of the price tag or shape. Whiffle balls are cheaper but, they probably don't last as long. Great Video:)
on cue, a birdie ball ad plays when you break to see if you can find them
Thanks for the review and the laughs! No way I'm paying 40 bucks!
You have the sound of the matt at first with slower swung irons, then shallower with woods and swung faster, ... I would have EQed the bass in matt hit out so you can hear the crispness of the mids and highs of ball on the club vs the "birdie balllll" or off grass, or tee, no rubberizedness, thud click
If you are getting sick of ads buying there products isn’t the best way to get rid of them
What I do like about them you could use them to practice looking at the lable to focus when lining up to a ball like your other video
Hey mr short game. Your videos have been tremendously helping my daughter and I improve or games. I am just curious, what do you do for a full time job?
Never tried the Birdie Ball ball, but the Birdie Ball putting green is AWESOME!
Okay, that was fun and interesting. Not sure I would buy them but it made for an entertaining video. To be fair, on the sound test, they did sound about the same as the golf ball on the initial hit.
Nice review! I got some of them and I really loved them.
I think they can be useful to improve ball striking and swing mechanics.
P.S.: You look a LOT like Hiram Lodge! Couldn't imagine Hiram Lodge teaches golf.
On impact I believe they sound very similar I don't think they claim they sound like a pro V1 in flight so id say it's pretty accurate how do they feel tho?
Sounded the same to me. What is the game your supposed to play with them.? My guess is just to hit clubs and not go that far to pick them up? Also are they supposed to stand up like that or can they lay on the side? I mean how would you putt them lol;)
What happens if you hit them like a barrel on its side ?
What do you use in your backyard? I can’t get a full swing on a regular ball or even on a Nerf/foam ball.
I keep crushing/ Collapsing Wiffleball’s!
Best part of this video was him going “woo woo wooo woo” and “vwoooshh” 😂
Had em for years . Love em!
They are close. But I think the birdie ball sounds more clicky and plasticky if u get my drift lol but they look interesting, makes me want to try one.
Have you tested the Almost golf balls ?
You should do a blind testing on the BIRDIE BALL
I’m pretty sure it claims that it “feels” like a real golf ball coming off of the face. Maybe practicing your Hooked on Phonics will help you comprehend what you’re actually reading. Feel and flight give you great feedback.
I agree, and the green grey wiffle balls I get on amazon are the best for me
I love the sound of a well struck birdie ball
Yeah I couldn't tell a difference but all I heard was the audio from the video not in person so it's hard to say
Well... They look like something I would really enjoy practicing with. I was actually getting kick out of that low Curly sound with the irons...nyuk nyuk nyuk.
Sounds the same to me... the dingwong sound is after impact... 24.95 for a dozen I dont know where you got your bridie balls... I have been using bridie balls for 8 months and dont really see a height difference but that's how I know I hit it good
there is no way the BB can sound like a regular golf ball since its open... I think they were referring to the impact sound. sounded close to me.
You read they feel like a pro v one not sounds like one. You did say they don’t feel like the weight of a ball. Be cool if they could match the weight of a ball.
Were all of those in the pool floating? Wondering if these would be fun to hit to a floating island on a lake?
I couldn’t tell a difference AT ALL
Great video
While your over here swinging clean off the deck. I’m over here hitting chunky fats or thin tops. How do you hits so clean off the deck. That’s something I’m trying to improve on. Sheesh 😒
I like birdie ball....... Its not how far they go how they sound.... It helps you train... you dont want it too go far its about connection.... You can clearly see when hitting n birdie ball bad that it wasnt a good connection......... Not really a good review tbh
I prefer hitting them to the wiffle ball and they obviously don’t crumple if you blade one but like you said they are not cheap and do eventually crack. Maybe just chop up some pvc pipe or better yet buy a net and hit golf balls instead.
I got a birdie ball add while watching this lol
Meet birdie ball!
It would put fun in the game for kids. I can't play with a real ball alone playing with a plastic tube, well I guess I'll go hit some dandelions. Good video.
Lol. Meet Birdie Ball. I wish those ads would just go away. Funny stuff.
I have these. They DO NOT sound like any golf ball I've ever hit.
I typically hit them when I have the itch to swing and make contact but do not have the room to hit real balls. I hit them at my house on golf days to see what my tendency (fade/draw) is before I get to the course because I usually do not have time to hit the range.
Great video wonderful work!!! Bravo
I dont think the sound will affect if I make a good swing. They work for that purpose. Its about ball striking not if the product makes a swooshing sound.
Sounds great for swing drills and practice
At impact they sound just about the same. I use these just for the ability to have full swings and to see ball flight
I like my birdi balls
There a lot of fun when sharping your swing in your yard
Whiffle balls are a joke compared to birdie balls
The take off sound of the birdie balls is different and keeps you wanting to hit it again
It’s just for practices in combined spaces
Have some fun with them 👍
nah they sound nothing alike they have some goofy "boing" sound to them
Like a rubber band being snapped.
Josh Lynch not at all
The flight sounds different, but impact is VERY similar. They never claimed it sounds like a golf ball in flight. And besides who cares what it sounds like after you've hit it.
I closed my eyes when you were hitting into the net, I couldn't tell a difference in sound.
Honest question... what difference does it make how it sounds? Who cares? Isn't the purpose of the Birdie Ball to practice ball striking, ...grooving your swing, etc, in a limited distance space? It's a practice aid, right? Personally, I'd never expect it to sound like any real golf ball... but I wouldn't care either.
I buy birdie balls by the dozen. They sound nothing like a real golf ball. Driver are really fun if hit off their proprietary foam wedge.
More similar, but the Pro V1 sounds a bit thinking and the birdie ball a bit clangier
I love this video!!! Great RUclips creator :). SUBSCRIBED!!!!
Has anyone tried cutting similar diameter PVC pipe to the same lengths? Does it leave any temporary or permanent trace on a club face?
