I have some birdie balls that were sent to me when I ordered a putting mat. I think the sound you picked up with mics was pretty close at impact, but from experience, the sound during flight, like you said is very different. Kinda fun sound. Because of the limited distance, I used to take them to my favorite parks and neighborhoods and imagine nine holes to play. Your channel is the most down to earth, fun, and addictive Golf video's to watch on RUclips. I've been giving my thumbs up for a couple years now.Great work. Keep it up.

Just a heads up. The Birdie ball is supposed to go the same distance with full swings. Also they were created to work on your swing and making contact with the ball in non-range environments (local park or big backyard). The contact sounds really close to a real ball. Thank you for what you do. I’m a new golfer and I really enjoy your content

@@rorylane4069 , Birdie Balls aren't appropriate for actual play. They only go 35 - 40 yards, regardless of what club you hit. I think they could help you groove your 3 wood and hybrid swing. Harder to do with the driver because they are hard to tee up (need a special contraption).

I can hit low launch 7 iron shots that have a lot of spin. These things are literally the greatest practice ball on the market. 3 balls have lasted over 3 years in Michigan. I have 120 club speed and one partially cracked this week. Flies fine though. They draw and fade like a normal ball would. Where my clubface lies at impact is where the birdieball will end up, if hit on the center of the face. Buy a 3 pack and turn on some music, hit to a target and get some steps in cause these things WILL make you a better striker of the golf ball. They pop out of heavy rough if you hit the correct shot, they're tremendous

I purchased the Birdie Ball system to introduce golf to my PE classes. It was a great addition to my curriculum; I could teach golf in the gym and I don't need a net. If you have a yard set up to practice your golf with real balls, then I guess you wouldn't need Birdie Ball. But, if you have limited space, or you don't want to spend countless $$ at the driving range, then Birdie Ball is the way to go.

So the reasons are all different for everybody. I like them to warm up with prior to playing a round. Isn't that the point? I don't spend money on a bucket of balls, I don't have time to hit a bucket usually. I hit six of these for roughly 10 mins and I'm pretty loose for the first tee. I think they are great for that reason.

I've been using BB's for more than 2 yrs. This review is a bit harsh I think. I didn't see any junk about sounding just like a real golf ball when I bought them. I was interested in the shape they said they could create, and they definitely create shape. GREAT training for working on ball shaping. Of course the aerodynamics are completely and totally different from a real golf ball, so expecting distance and trajectory feedback is off base for the review. There is enough mass to the BB to get some feedback, unlike a foam or wiffle ball which gives zero club head feedback.
However, they are not heavy enough for really being able to assess horizontal club face contact. For instance, I tend to strike outside toward the toe, and I can't get much sense of toe mishits with the BB - however, the sound and shaping are better when center contact is made. As far as thin and fat hits, the feedback is obvious. I have a net for hitting real balls, but for working on shot shaping I hit the BB. By the way, I always opt for "factory seconds" to keep the price down.

just cut some schedule 40 pvc pipe the same length as the width about the size of a golf ball, got something just as good, but very cheap. They do work well though until you try to compress them hard, then pieces everywhere. (that is probably why they sell the little plastic launch mat) It is a wonderful way to practice draws and fades and straight shots. Thanks for the review!!! I'm sticking with pvc pipe, it's cheaper.

"lets stay cheap here" says the man with skytrack and an in ground pool. I personally really like them. Cost is high, but I would rather hit them than wiffle balls any day.

It would put fun in the game for kids. I can't play with a real ball alone playing with a plastic tube, well I guess I'll go hit some dandelions. Good video.

I have these. They DO NOT sound like any golf ball I've ever hit.
I typically hit them when I have the itch to swing and make contact but do not have the room to hit real balls. I hit them at my house on golf days to see what my tendency (fade/draw) is before I get to the course because I usually do not have time to hit the range.

I dont think the sound will affect if I make a good swing. They work for that purpose. Its about ball striking not if the product makes a swooshing sound.

Sounds great for swing drills and practice

At impact they sound just about the same. I use these just for the ability to have full swings and to see ball flight

    I like my birdi balls
There a lot of fun when sharping your swing in your yard
Whiffle balls are a joke compared to birdie balls
The take off sound of the birdie balls is different and keeps you wanting to hit it again
It’s just for practices in combined spaces
Have some fun with them 👍

The flight sounds different, but impact is VERY similar. They never claimed it sounds like a golf ball in flight. And besides who cares what it sounds like after you've hit it.

I closed my eyes when you were hitting into the net, I couldn't tell a difference in sound.

Honest question... what difference does it make how it sounds? Who cares? Isn't the purpose of the Birdie Ball to practice ball striking, ...grooving your swing, etc, in a limited distance space? It's a practice aid, right? Personally, I'd never expect it to sound like any real golf ball... but I wouldn't care either.

I buy birdie balls by the dozen. They sound nothing like a real golf ball. Driver are really fun if hit off their proprietary foam wedge.

More similar, but the Pro V1 sounds a bit thinking and the birdie ball a bit clangier

Has anyone tried cutting similar diameter PVC pipe to the same lengths? Does it leave any temporary or permanent trace on a club face?
