    Never thought I needed one until I decided to try one when the TC Spark mini was on sale. It ended up going after my overdrives, and just before my compressor… It just makes my sound louder and it’s simple and awesome. It also has a silent momentary-capable switch which is great.

    When you hit a Klon style pedal with another drive or boost, you get both, more gain AND more volume, best of both worlds ;)

    I've noticed that by adding the buffer that it actually acts like a clean boost mostly but it does add just a hair more of saturation if it's before the Distortion section this can make the high-end a little extra more bite causing need to adjust some of the tone controls. I just use my soft Clipper overdrive's if I want a saturate my heart or clipping distortion I just put that boost after the Distortion section so you can get more volume when you need it

    • @ericwarrington6650

      Depends on the pedals..all react differently to each other and different in different sections of chain..cool u dialed in a good dynamic..I def take notes when I'm playing around w my board as many times the best tones are stumbled upon playing around..🤘😜🎸🎶

    • @VertexEffectsInc

      Your buffer is bad if it's doing that...there should be ZERO gain.

  • @ImYourOverlord
    @ImYourOverlord 2 года назад +1

    My OCD (the pedal, not my condition!) is set as a clean boost, and sits at the end of my gain/dirt pedals, feeding into an EQ pedal. Works very well in that spot!

    • @ImYourOverlord
      @ImYourOverlord 2 года назад +1

      With that stated, an RC Booster Scott Henderson edition sits at the beginning of my gain/dirt section, mostly for tone (Gain 1 is very slight, with optional Gain 2 more pronounced and used only for soloing).

  • @italianbirdvideos6190

    For me it's been a relatively simple equation playing live: 1) Boost into Dirt: Placing "always on" boost before dirt to push the OD or Distortion and get all of the goodness out of the dirt pedal. 2) Boost after Dirt: Place boost after dirt, for volume only- solos, etc. Placing boost after dirt as a solo only boost. This preserves your existing tone and only makes it louder.

  • @LeeKirkman88

  • @addicted2tone349
    @addicted2tone349 2 года назад

    I use less amp gain then us boost to give me that lead drive. Lower output pickups and using my volume knob to clean up my tone. I also like this because an overdrive tends to compress my signal and but with less amp drive I don’t loose my dynamics.

    Which buffers or booster pedal have a "ground lift" option for the input jack to output jack so you can get galvanic isolation from input circuit to output circuit?

    • @jamwayofaiken-augustarockb7643
      @jamwayofaiken-augustarockb7643 2 года назад

      I know that there are direct boxes that come with ground lifts and their are A/B/Y switches that can have groundless in them but I don't know if you can use them for what you're trying to achieve

      @@VertexEffectsInc any reasons why they don't have a ground lift? I don't think an A/B box that has ground lift uses an isolation transformer to do a ground lift from input to output

  • @joyceroadstudios

    Great explanation, thank you! So I have a UA Golden and a High Wire. If I want to run the Golden stereo out I need a buffer for each side as you say. What if one side went to High Wire and then to amp 1, and the other side went to a buffered fx loop of amp 2 (instead of front of amp)? Is that a similar idea as having two output buffers? Lastly, if I ran one side of Golden through a buffer to amp 1 and the other side unbuffered straight to amp 2 (no fx loop), would it really be that bad or simply two distinct signal variations? Thanks!

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  2 года назад

      You'll need a second output buffer, maybe a Stowaway might be easier. If you use an effects loop another Stowaway after the last pedal before going back to the FX return.

    I saw a review saying your pedal doesn’t work without having another pedal Attached to it, is that accurate?
    Can it just be used as a stand alone pedal?
    Also what kind of pedal would help a guitar produce better pinch harmonics? Do you have anything that can help with that too? One of my guitars is great but it’s pinch harmonics are choked and idk if a boost would really help, since it doesn’t sound great to begin with

    • @VertexEffectsInc
      @VertexEffectsInc  10 месяцев назад +1

      It would be no more true of any of our pedals than it would any other pedal. I suppose it's hard to say unless I knew which of the products the reviewer was talking about or their intended use versus what the pedal was designed for. Bottom line, of course the pedals are meant to be used on their own. Pinch harmonics are easier to pull out with higher gain, so I'd say, find a high gain distortion pedal you like, and you'll find it way easier to get pinch harmonics. Boosts don't typically add distortion if they're actually boost pedals (unless you're stacking it with another pedal to overdrive it more). I think you should consider an overdrive or distortion depending on the amp you're pairing the pedal with.

      Yeah he was commenting on the vertex boost mkii. His comment confused me, probably user error.
      Would putting a boost in the loop increase the gain of the amp?
      I’m not much of a pedal used Iv always just plugged straight in so after all these years I still have three questions lol
