However as late as the first decade of the 1600 Donal Spainneach Kavanagh, the last great leader of the Clanwas being encouraged to revive the claim to be King of Leinster,by the great O'Neill Chieftain of Tyrone, During this period many of the smaller Clan or Chieftain landholders of Carlow and Wexford sold their patrimony so that by 1641 any lands remaining were in the hands of only a few descendants of the King, After the Battle of Kinsale Ireland was no more a land ok Kings and chieftains , Many of the Kavanaghs were shipped to the colonies as slave labour for sugar and tobacco plantations, some were shipped to Barbadoes, North Carolina, Virginia, And more were sold as Slaves to possibly a French Colony at the Mouth of The Amazon River, many more went to European Countries in the latter years and some became generals in Spanish ,Polish, French and Austrian Armies The name Kavanagh was first recorded in Irish history approx 951.
