abe is doing a smart cinematic technique, every time he is switching views he is also physically panning the MAX, for example it would be more dull for the camera view to just pivot 180 degrees front to back as if on a swivel, so he when he does choose to swivel he is also moving the MAX around on the pole to create the illusion a cinematographer is whirling around the subject, it makes the video very immersive. the options cameras like the MAX open up are amazing but you sorta still have to know what you are doing to get videos like this.
@O Ke The GoPro Max stitches the footage in camera. Which means you aren't left with a huge rendered file after stitching like the GoPro Fusion. It's an H.265 file at 60Mb/s. Very small and easy to work with.
So awesome that the clip come stitched now! That was one of the biggest struggles with Fusion was the time it took to render the stitches together footage before using it in Premiere
So excited. Just got my GoPro Max. At first, I was pretty frustrated because it really isn’t intuitive until you understand how the programmer thought. Now, it’s just a matter of learning how to manipulate! Such a cool piece of equipment. It makes shopping look like the coolest day of the year!
Quick tip, if you do your last keyframe first and set your transitions/easing all the rest will be the same easing when you add them. This is especially helpful if your keyframes are really close because it wont let you set easing when they are too close.
Wow! Best tutorial I have ever watched this week! I have been looking for this exact tutorial for my max but most of what I have watched are so complicated to follow! This is exactly what I need!!! This video will help me big time with maximizing the use of my max in my upcoming vacation! THANK YOU!!! 😀
This is definitely the best 360 camera available right now for the price considering now we can edit the footage right off the camera on our phones! Perfect demonstration video!
So awesome, taking my new Max to Japan next week and to be able to edit this type of content on an iPad is insanely awesome. Not having to carry my laptop anymore!!! GoPro seem to have really ramped up the app and user software side recently and I'm loving it!!!
Cheers for that, ordered the Max for delivery on the 24th... Having used the Insta one x, Garmin virb, yi 360, Ricoh Theta etc looking forward to the Max too.
Abe amazing video! You mentioned that the GoPro app creates a 1080p file. Is it possible to create a higher resolution one to then air drop to my desk top and incorporate into a video in fcp X?
The entire 360 sphere resolution is 5.6k. Framing selects a small portion of that. It simply cannot physically be more than 1080 natively. Might as well that 1080 clip and upscale it to 4k or whatever you want in fcpx.
When will we have the ability to use re frame on the gopro app for fusion ? Also, when will desktop app be available to download. I would assume soon, since MAX should be shipping by EOM.
Thank you for sharing how that clip was made, as I have watched it many times while deciding to pre-order the Max. One question, if done on the phone, how id you change the angle of the keyframe? Did you move your phone, or did you drag and drop on the screen? Should we expect to see similar functionality in the Windows version of the app? Any idea if the iPad OS version may be different than the iPhone app now that they have separated themselves from each other? I currently love editing in Quik on my iPad Pro. The processing power is incredible compared to nearly any Windows machine. Thank you!
Can we keep the original 4K definition by doing the edit via the computer? (I know it’s probably going to be lower than 4K because the original is 5.6K in 360, but you get my point: something better than 1080)
Cool but what if I want to have the 4k version of the 360 clip on my computer? Can I also do this key framing on my computer? Will there be a similar app/software available on computer?
thank you for making this video I know how hard it is to get people involved 2nd you've made me want to buy this cam at first I didn't see a reason but I want it for sure lol
Will Max files be supported by Final Cut Pro X? The workflow looks fine on a phone but I shoot a lot of different clips that need to be combined and I edit on a desktop.
A question: as I watch you adding keyframes you are constantly fixing the camera for all three yaw, pitch and roll. In my insta one x the footage when imported is always leveled to horizon - so no need to be fixing camera roll at all - it is always straight and makes editing breeze. Does that mean gopro Max does not stabilize the footage to the horizon from gyroscope data? Because I see you have to fix roll in every keyframe.. which is weird.
Pretty certain he was just key framing it to frame the shot he wanted. Also he was filming from level then up high and down low so if you didn't adjust you wouldn't get the people in the shot.
That wasn't my question. My question was about horizon leveling because it was NOT on the video. But answering my own question by watching video on another youtube channel - the max has indeed auto horizon leveling option. Maybe on this video it was not switched on or not yet available in pre-production. That means this will auto fix camera roll if turned ON. Good, so on par with insta 360 x.
FP HAM probably does this but I saw another video talking about the Boost stabilisation which kept horizon level but that involved heavy cropping. Best to try it out to make sure it does what you need.
@@fpham8004 Correct, on the Max the camera handles horizon leveling using the HyperSmooth mode. gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/max/CHDHZ-201-master.html
Before buying (like me) think that if you are a Mac user, it is actually impossible to batch convert multiple files in the desktop app GoPro player.. So basically if you have 100 file to convert, you will have to open them one by one... that's insane !
Looks awesome, pre-order done for me (as well for review on my french RUclips channel 😀) I like the automatic stitching inside the camera ! Great 👍I've been using One X for one year now and I like keyframing capabilities. Your workflow looks great on GoPro App

I've been on the fence about 360 cameras, but as it gets easier to edit I get closer to pulling the trig. Thank you for the high value tutorials, Abe!
I bought the Max, and editing so far is a nightmare! Hope it get's easier!!!
GoPro just added the trade up program for the MAX so I jumped on it and got $100 off by sending in a $9 camera off ebay lol.
get a 360 camera, you just get so much usable footage so easily
@@J.Smith-rc6wh ya know I have a max and use it so infrequently. It’s been a goal to get it more involved though
This kinda helped me deciding. I’m definitely getting the Max!
wait for the imagine quality test, now it looks like crap even from phones
Old Boy's Adventures imagine quality test? Well, if it doesn’t suit your taste, don’t buy right?
Image* quality :p
Good luck with the max
Man im weiting keyframing in the app.

Super helpful bro, exactly the content I was looking for
I was debating on which to buy first Max or Hero 8 -this helped me make my decision MAX it is. Fusion studio no more for me. Thanks Abe!!
