    Interesting...I mounted 285/70-17 Falkens on 17x9 +20 offset wheels on my FX4 and also had to removed the front and rear crash bars...but I did it without cutting. The front were removed by loosening bumper and inching it forward enough to slide out the beams. The rears were done similarly by loosening the lower fender bolt at the rear and unclipping the lower wheel arch trim...nudged the fender out just fraction of an inch and the rear bars slide out...no cutting what so ever. As for the safety issue of the bar removal...brother if your life depended on this little bit of OEM trick to get some extra safety NTSA points, then you need to reconsider modifying anything in your life...offset crashes into a immovable object is preventable, not to mention rare and almost impossible in real life...pay attention to your driving =)
    BTW, ever wonder how the F150 Raptor has big tire and is able to steer? They don't have these offset crash bars, unlike their regular pedestrian F150 counterparts...hmmm

      I respect you putting in the effort to do it without cutting. We read that it was possible to do, but for our purposes it seemed much quicker to just chop them out and we're still happy with the end result. As for safety, there is some obligation for me to mention that this is dangerous in the video because we are a business after all hahah. Thanks for watching!

    Does not really matter if you do spacers or wheel offset to make it wider, both will increase the leverage over the ball joints which will wear faster of break all together.

Keep in mind if the truck wasn't made 4that, what you're doing is cocking all the joints/knuckles @ odd angles so they have less travel/articulation & wear faster. I've seen my share of front wheels facing opposite directions & popped driveshafts......oh yeah. :/(

    NOT SAFE

  • @nysledge4669
    @nysledge4669 4 года назад +1

    Adding tires that require degrading safety is a bad idea. There are ways to add the same tires without jeopardizing safety. Especially if you are working on a customers car or ever plan on selling the vehicle. Wheel spacers are incredibly dangerous and I believe illegal?
    Cutting out a portion of the front crash bar is very dangerous and now even a minor front collision, makes it much more likely to sustain severe damage.
    Cutting the crash bar behind the wheel is not only extremely dangerous, but it is totally irresponsible. It is the only thing that stands between the occupants and having the whole tire and wheel along with the front suspension ending up inside the cabin and possibly killing the people inside of the truck

    • @Fin.mint.
      @Fin.mint. 3 года назад

      Wheel spacers are not dangerous if installed correctly. Additionally, they are only illegal in certain jurisdictions. You came across pretty boomer there, but anyway I do agree with you in the fact that cutting the crash bar was probably not a good idea at all.

    • @Hanibul_Lecktor
      @Hanibul_Lecktor 2 года назад

      100% bullshit, claims adjuster would be looking at stock parts and if by chance you insured aftermarket modifications. They give zero f*cks when it comes to damaged parts getting replaced. If a modification caused an injury or death, ok sure maybe just maybe they'll be like hey wait. If that 2mm thick metal wasn't trimmed back. Maybe the damage wouldn't be so severe. In normal situations, absolutely nothing will happen.
