It is so great to come across a channel on RUclips that is not obsessed with just yelling about everything, and can just sit back and have a nice chill conversation about things. Loved the vid.
No other camera matches the features and price of the G85. Keep the kit lens, it’s great, sharp and versatile. And a great bargain. Then get the Voit. The IBIS works better at 1080. Some cameras shoot nice 4k but terrible 1080. The G85 shoots amazing 1080. If you’re out vlogging shoot 1080. When indoors shoot 4k. One final thing about the G85 that no one talks about is it has a good preamp and a limiter. I yell a lot so that’s key for me. One final thing. It’s almost 2 years old. A new model might be coming out soon.
Omg, Casey. Your VOICE! This was only 2 years ago? You sound like a teenage girl...who’s also a part time photographer. I’m glad you finally hit puberty in your old age. Going through your old vids, is always a gift. Keep up the great work, and thank you for the much needed laughs. 🙏
G85. Owned it for over a year. Great travel camera - light, flip screen, stable as f....k. Found the 7-14mm Lumix to be my best outdoor workhorse lens. Love your style, go for it.
I lean toward Panasonic naturally but I'm stuck between the G85 for it's stabilization and the Canon T7i for it's AF. I'm not going to doing much video at all BUT as a beginner I think that when I do shoot video the stabilization will be important. I don't know what to do.
I'm a really serious person, and I hardly to laugh, I watch a lot of camera review with a fucking serious face, but your review, make me laugh, hahahaha, DAMN Man! good review.😂😂👍
Hilarious man, I love how this is a real personal review! and not some random person joyfully yelling at me their opinions and full of affiliate links to stuff they dont even recommend and just talked trash about haha keep your style
In all seriousness, have you tried the Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 PRO on the Lumix G series. I use it on my G85 and GH5, and it gives great bokeh and has AF, etc. (sorry, the prior comment submitted before I was done).
You should check out the GH5, it uses the full sensor width for 4K (doesn't crop like the G85). Plus slightly better IBIS and AF than the G85, and all the additional video features of course.
You don’t REALLY need a flipout screen, if you’re manually focusing. Use a lens with hyperfocal distance, preferable even a film-camera lens since most of those are compact and have the hyperfocal markings on there. With the A7sII you could even set it to a smaller aperture, broaden the DOF from the camera until right behind you.
I think the 50mm f1.4 had more bike simply because of the lens compression the 25mm f1.4 is simply producing similar performance but since the actual lens is 25mm the footage is less compressed even though the crop factor is the equivalent to 50mm I would like to see a comparison with two similar focal lengths with the cameras adjusted of course in order to see what the difference in bokeh would be Im aware that the mft sensor doesn't gather as much light but I wonder what the difference would be if that makes
Panasonic G85 with the 25mm f1.4 is what im working with ATM, its amazing and definatly worth it for the price and versatility. I think the Voigtlander would be the best for floating head type videos , but the 25mm f/1.4 does the same job if you have the green screen.
I use a g7 (no stab) with a 12-34 pana. that has stabe and de shake. and its tiny and weights nothing. Probably the lightest combo you can get. I'd upgrade to a g95 BUT wont settle for 4k crop so stilllllll waitin. g9? too heave and big but... takes good pics.
It’s so funny watching this in 2024. Kasey’s voice is so much deeper now! 😅 I still use the G85. I have so many cameras, but it’s still one of the lightest and easiest cameras to use! Of course I have to use manual focus, but I come from filming on actual film and there was no autofocus back then.
I want to shoot astrophotography, i want to shoot videos of fast action that sometimes happen on dim light situations, so i decided that i would get at least an APS-C camera that can be coupled with fast lenses. That's why i wouldn't get a MFT, specially because there are no affordable fast lenses on the Panasonic side of MFT, and i can't afford full frame mirrorless cameras.
This tests are great and I don't think it can be done much better without things like mounting two cameras together for parallel shooting or studio setups with controlled light. I'm not sure if a manual 25mm/0.95 lens is the best choice for vlogging. It might depend on the work style. For my stuff, I hit the sweet spot with the GH5 and the Pana/Leica 12mm/1.4 lens. But I don't do much of this handheld selfie shots and I use the F1.4 more for low light than blurry backgrounds. Olympus has new F1.2 lenses, that might be a good alternative for you. I'm using a lot single AF which makes things much easier.
MY current budget favorites are Canon M50 and Panasonic G85. One thing to consider could be the availability of speedboosters, what a nice way to get even faster lenses.
bought the pana g80(85) with kit lens 12-60mm and the 25mm 1.7 for 675 dollars - cant wait to recieve it. Great channel! Hope you find what you are looking for, or maybe rather not - it is more fun then :)
Amazing! I am seeing history in the making - right before he wanted the perfect camera, AND also right before he made the biggest mistake of his life - going with the voigtlander f/0.95 over the leica f/1.4, you toneh slave. Also, it's impressive how much your voice dropped and how your accent changed in 3 years haha. Love you - best camera channel on youtube.
would a metabones speedbooster help in any of these situations, or do you lose auto-focus?? , I'll bet that Voigtlander .95 is heavy as depleted uranium, work out boy
MFT is good at low price points, below $1000. At low price points they offer the best quality for the money. At higher price points there's no reason to get a smaller sensor. But the A7iii has made great improvements in usability since the A7ii, and if you can afford it, it's the best there is. Also the A7iii has amazing autofocus while Panasonic will do terrible especially at a shallow DOF.
Just sold all my mft lenses and gx85 for sony A7mk3 with 55mm F1.8 and the picture quality and low light performance is amazing, the best decision and investment.
Had the 17.5 .95 voigtlander. Two words: Beautiful Garbage. Wide open it had the resolution of a fuzzy peach. The coma was unbelievable. Left skin tons looking very odd. Stop it down though to 1.4 and especially F2 and it's magic. So, I switched to Sony and adapted the 35mm 1.7 Ultron. MAGIC TIME!!! The 17.5 was over a lb and the 35mm 1.7 is like- it's M43 size, sharper wide open and tons of voigtlander magic.
Codeword: "Metabones"...! All I'm sayin'. Could be good for you. "Flexing" Aperture and Focal length...! Thank You. Good to see your hands on approach. Greetings from Denmark...!
I ended up watching this as I was frustrated with my G85 with stock 12-60 lens (yes I knew micro 2/3 sensors double the focal length 25=50 yada yada) but I just realised it doubles the aperture too... so 3.5 (which is the lowest = 7.0) so no wonder I'm getting shit DoF and I realise now why the lens is rubbish for shallow DoF. I pulled out my NIKON D800 (10 year old camera) with 50mm f.1.8mm NIKOR lens and this is a world of difference and the thing comes out of retirement for still stuff (as it was the model before DLSR camera's shot video). I found your dry sense of humour well worth Subscribing and I'm with you with smooth creamy shit! funny guy...
so I had to search for the lenses you mentioned and found this ruclips.net/video/nZtMBIRHsxw/видео.html seems the MIKATOR is a lot smaller and lighter for hand-held vloging... I'm up for that... win win! So what did you go for... comments below and win a t-shirt ;-)
Hahahaha love this video...the backgrounds and how cinematic you made the leaves hahaha love the detail in this video...lol oh and great sense of humor...great comparrison
Why not a7III, has everything for $2.000. Full frame, 700 fucusing points, IBIS, headphone and mic jack. Dual card slot, big battery, slog, 4k and 120 frames full hd.... Thats the camera to buy today
Andy Pratt yes, my bad, and in the mean time I realised he did a video on a7iii, so my whole comment is useless. Anyways, what was this video good for when the most important feature for his is fully articulated screen and without it it's no go?!
Panasonic G85 but I'd get the voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 if you are using it for vlogging as 35mm equivalent is probable better than 50mm plus you could buy both for less than the Sony A7s body only.
There's a 10.5 voitlander now that would be even better for vlogging. That's the one I'm getting if I decide to stay with Panasonic. I'm really feeling that G9, like a lot. But that A7iii.....
One thing is still missing in all of those and other consumer cameras- Global shutter. Even a smartphone have a global shutter. I thought to get the black magic pocket cinema camera which have a great image, but when I learned that it have a rolling shutter, shoots only 1080 and have a horrible battery life, I for another. Do you know any?
I'm a newbie just doing some research, but from what I understand aperture = size of bokeh balls (= fl / f) The biggest aperture on wide prime lenses I've found for vlogging: Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 ASPH. 860.00 € - 8.6 mm Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 423.00 € - 8.8 mm Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN 400.00 € - 11.4 mm Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 300.00 € - 9.4 mm Voigtlander 25mm 0.95 950.00 € - 26.3 mm Would be an immense boon for MFT if someone would make something like an affordable f0.95 lens with wide angle like 12mm. All the vloggers would jump on it. Maybe you can throw a wide angle converter on the voigtlander? EDIT: Oh wait, there are actually more wider ones: Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 1,100.00 € - 11.1 mm Voigtlander Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 900.00 € - 18.4 mm Expensive and no autofocus. Also not sharp full open. But they should stack up pretty well against full frame? Panasonic should jump on that design and add autofocus before Sony or the upcoming full frame mirrorless eat their bacon. PS: They are also quite heavy and big...
at t=10min54 you compare g7x vs g85 and point out that background is blurier on g85 but look at skin tone you are orange, isn't color more important than subject separation from background to you ?
Coulda just been the auto white balance freaking out in the camera shop. I'm pretty happy with the colours most times, but sometimes in fluorescent lighting it freaks out.
The only one better was the 80D, but it's so much bigger and clunkier, ya gotta weigh that in. I'm stuck between the G85 and 80D. I like the 80D because of it's great skin tones. As someone with bad acne scars, that would help.
Autofocus on that 20/1.7 is bad (in video) regardless of which camera it's on. Slow and noisy. Because it's slow I think Panasonic cameras adjust the autofocus algorithm to be more conservative leaving things out of focus longer. That lens is no good for video. G85 kit lens or that video tuned zoom lens I have (can't remember which) is pretty good.
Extreme compact and waterproof camera is the camera for me. Dont care much about the blurry background. In fact i prefer sharp background because i am not film myself much. 4K and low light performance. I think about panasonic TZ90 but i heard its not good enough in low light conditions. Its not weatherproof as well. If canon make G7X mark III with external mic support, and sideways flip screen then will be awesome. Btw background can be bluried via post process.
Absolutely! People won't actually listen to you for what you have to say they'll listen to you only if you have a blurry background. When I listen to some doctors talking about intermittent fasting or the benefit of a vegan diet or cold water immersion, I will know right away that the guy doesn't know what he's talking about and is a total loser if the background is in perfect focus. That's all I do also when I watch Netflix and Amazon Prime. I totally ignore the reviews about the story and acting and look for the ones who can confirm that in a particular story the background has to be creamy and blurry. You got it nailed down, buddy!
exactly. some people need their heads examined. i guess the internet really has exposed just how crazy people's brains are. reading through these comments, is even more disheartening. i guess it's worth remembering that even if only 1% of the world is crazy, 1% of a billion is still 10 million, lol.
13:00 so this is the exact moment you've convinced yourself its worth to go G85 + 0.95 toneh way. Sad to watch. If someone able to timetravel sees this comment, please save him. Save his soul.
Super video but the swearing did not improve it. It’s a shame because I enjoyed the honest approach of the film. You kept my attention throughout the video and the content was well presented.
LANGUAGE! Just kidding. Very funny, nice metered delivery and useful info- thanks. That’s why some serious photogs use a range of cameras, from mobile devices and GoPro’s to medium format. BTW, try an adapted 105mm F/1.4. That and the 200mm f/1.8 make for such beautiful bokeh and are great for selfies (you mentioned you are into health and fitness).
youre so good ! i dont know anymore - who i am ... or ...what i am .... am i a boy ?... or am i a girl ? i dont know anymore .... you... make me so confused ...are you REALLY talking to ME ME ? Like...it...im...all perplexed ...and confused now....i dont ...know...anymore.....but i know .. that i ALSO want a camera ...the SAME as you got ! and i love you....videos..... you have made me a better person ... but im still a LITTLE confused.... i know .. i like you...like i never tried to like anybody before....but i also know that im a boy ...so....am i a freak ???? a monster ????? i like to see those videos coming - you do a good job ... a really good photographra person ! ! ! ! ...
about 4k making you skin look bad compared to 1080p because you see wrinkles, put something in front of your lens to filter ruclips.net/video/InpiroMh-P0/видео.html
It is so great to come across a channel on RUclips that is not obsessed with just yelling about everything, and can just sit back and have a nice chill conversation about things. Loved the vid.

Canon m50 beats G85 at 1080p with insane AF and nicer colors. But 4k on m50 sucks as hell
Dude, your presenting style is classic! I love it.
Omg, Casey.
GH5 here. The world can keep the new GH6. I don't need all those new features for youtube. Not for $2200, anyway.
Awesome comparison. Great personality!
“None of that kit lens shit...” made may day 🤣
I have watched this over 5 times. This is a comedy channel. 😇🤣
I lean toward Panasonic naturally but I'm stuck between the G85 for it's stabilization and the Canon T7i for it's AF. I'm not going to doing much video at all BUT as a beginner I think that when I do shoot video the stabilization will be important. I don't know what to do.
Same!!! End up what do you get?? Since g95 is out now...I'm curious.
I've been contemplating whether g95 or 80d .
Man, you have your own unique style which is refreshing. Good info, good video, and I look forward to more videos. Subscribed. PEACE from the STL.
I'm a really serious person, and I hardly to laugh, I watch a lot of camera review with a fucking serious face, but your review, make me laugh, hahahaha, DAMN Man! good review.😂😂👍
That tone and ambiance sound is hilarious. Straight up honest I love this video lol
Hilarious man, I love how this is a real personal review! and not some random person joyfully yelling at me their opinions and full of affiliate links to stuff they dont even recommend and just talked trash about haha keep your style
It's magical, but you pay for it. With money. Great video. I just sold my a7s and waiting for the A7iii.
Good move
You've got talent . Keep it up. I look forward to the next post. A fan.
In all seriousness, have you tried the Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 PRO on the Lumix G series. I use it on my G85 and GH5, and it gives great bokeh and has AF, etc. (sorry, the prior comment submitted before I was done).
I know this is an old video but you did a great job going through those cameras and lenses. Keep up that funny shit
Watched this video like 4 times. Really helpful video, especially the comparisons. Thanks!

I really like your sarcastic humor , keep up the good work
Thanks for the laughs and the comparison well done
I use a g7 (no stab) with a 12-34 pana. that has stabe and de shake. and its tiny and weights nothing. Probably the lightest combo you can get. I'd upgrade to a g95 BUT wont settle for 4k crop so stilllllll waitin. g9? too heave and big but... takes good pics.
Great video, and the humour!i like your reviews.
It’s so funny watching this in 2024. Kasey’s voice is so much deeper now! 😅
I still use the G85.
Man you're killing me, funniest camera review channel ever! :))
nice video, so chilled you could make ice cubes in it!
G85 with the Leica 15mm f1.7 try that one
This tests are great and I don't think it can be done much better without things like mounting two cameras together for parallel shooting or studio setups with controlled light.
I'm not sure if a manual 25mm/0.95 lens is the best choice for vlogging. It might depend on the work style. For my stuff, I hit the sweet spot with the GH5 and the Pana/Leica 12mm/1.4 lens. But I don't do much of this handheld selfie shots and I use the F1.4 more for low light than blurry backgrounds. Olympus has new F1.2 lenses, that might be a good alternative for you. MY current budget favorites are Canon M50 and Panasonic G85. One thing to consider could be the availability of speedboosters, what a nice way to get even faster lenses.
Is someone here from 2021year? Came here to see this talent in the past.
bought the pana g80(85) with kit lens 12-60mm and the 25mm 1.7 for 675 dollars - cant wait to recieve it. Great channel! Hope you find what you are looking for, or maybe rather not - it is more fun then :)
I shoot portraits with an A7 and video with a G85. Best of all worlds.
It would make the autofocus even worse ;)
Reupload? I remembered watching this video a year ago. 🤔
That was on my main channel, I'm putting all my camera related videos up here, as well as lots of new ones to come ;)
This is the most entertaining camera-themed video i've ever seen.
AF is for the weak - Jeremy Clarkson (grand tour)
Funny Commentary
What about the speed booster stuff is that worth getting into?
It's so heavy. Why not just get one of these tiny fast lenses?
Just sold all my mft lenses and gx85 for sony A7mk3 with 55mm F1.8 and the picture quality and low light performance is amazing, the best decision and investment.

Toneh was there, it has always been, but still un-discovered by Man back then! :)
Man, you have really improved with the years. Your voice has change naturally or you learned how to change it?
I have been watching dozens of G85 reviews and loved this one because you made me laugh so fucking hard. Your sense of humor is appreciated.
Codeword: "Metabones"...!
All I'm sayin'. Could be good for you. "Flexing" Aperture and Focal length...!
Thank You. Good to see your hands on approach.

Are you opposed to a gimbal? Could give you a little extra reach and help IS.
The only thing I wouldn't like is having to worry about batteries.
Hahahaha love this video...the backgrounds and how cinematic you made the leaves hahaha love the detail in this video...lol oh and great sense of humor...great comparrison

super underrated channel.
He makes some great and unique points here
I love this. Funny and informative
I'm a newbie just doing some research, but from what I understand
aperture = size of bokeh balls (= fl / f)
The biggest aperture on wide prime lenses I've found for vlogging:
Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 12mm f/1.4 ASPH. 860.00 € - 8.6 mm
Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 15mm f/1.7 423.00 € - 8.8 mm
Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN 400.00 € - 11.4 mm
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f1.8 300.00 € - 9.4 mm
Voigtlander 25mm 0.95 950.00 € - 26.3 mm
Would be an immense boon for MFT if someone would make something like an affordable f0.95 lens with wide angle like 12mm. All the vloggers would jump on it. Maybe you can throw a wide angle converter on the voigtlander?
EDIT: Oh wait, there are actually more wider ones:
Voigtlander Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95 1,100.00 € - 11.1 mm
Voigtlander Nokton 17.5mm f/0.95 900.00 € - 18.4 mm
Expensive and no autofocus. Also not sharp full open. But they should stack up pretty well against full frame? Panasonic should jump on that design and add autofocus before Sony or the upcoming full frame mirrorless eat their bacon.
PS: They are also quite heavy and big...
look, just forget about the canon eos C700 cini camera, and get the dam 85 and the 0,95 if you dont move around much. cheers,
you are great man!
I have a G85. I recommend the Sigma 16mm f/1.4. It has the DOF you want, autofocus, low light performance, and does not break the bank.
Great video 😊 G85 Rocks
at t=10min54 you compare g7x vs g85 and point out that background is blurier on g85 but look at skin tone you are orange, isn't color more important than subject separation from background to you ?

I'm stuck between the G85 and 80D. I like the 80D because of it's great skin tones. As someone with bad acne scars, that would help.
Might as well get a 6D II at that point.
You hypnotised me
Autofocus on that 20/1.7 is bad (in video) regardless of which camera it's on. Slow and noisy. Because it's slow I think Panasonic cameras adjust the autofocus algorithm to be more conservative leaving things out of focus longer. That lens is no good for video. I love your conspiracy voice..LMAO
Digging deep….. there you are again.
Dude love your videos so true but so fucking funny too!
O so many Tony stops here :P
Made me fuckin laugh, mate, subscribed
Dude... you're really weird... Also... you're kinda awesome.
Funny as shit. Almost funny as my struggle to decide between canon 250d,80d or panasonic g80..
Went with the G85 finally. Damn that AF sucks! Good thing im leaning towards stills.
13:00 so this is the exact moment you've convinced yourself its worth to go G85 + 0.95 toneh way. Sad to watch. If someone able to timetravel sees this comment, please save him. Save his soul.
yea.. those old days..
A7iii is for you :)
Super video but the swearing did not improve it. It’s a shame because I enjoyed the honest approach of the film. You kept my attention throughout the video and the content was well presented.
swearing improved it
Creepy but funny, good job!! Hahahaha
f.18 holy shit
The shallow dof era.
Go phuji, bro.
They have a long way to go when it comes to stabilization and light vlogging lenses. The new XT100 looks good though, I have a video coming on it ;)
Camera Conspiracies pretty sure the Xh1 ibis is on a par, if not better than sony's.

about 4k making you skin look bad compared to 1080p because you see wrinkles, put something in front of your lens to filter ruclips.net/video/InpiroMh-P0/видео.html
