I would like to see more videos about the internal production process of Webtoon, the different positions involved, and how one can work for WEBTOON. I've been wanting to get in on the production//editorial side, but it's so opaque and virtually none of the comics people I even know WEBTOON exists, let alone know anything about how to work for them.
Unfortunately I'm not involved in the hiring process or know much about other departments, and there are many things I can't say because of NDA, so I'll only be talking about my personal experiences on this channel, hope that helps!
This gives major fanfic authors turn professional fic author vibes. Like yknow how its always people in power who are furries, or actors who actually love their character etc. Its so cool to see people who are actually fans and shippers working on things like this. I mean, it is the ao3 authors who know how to work a fan base and lean into tropes and dynamics the best
How do you deal with clashing opinions and ideas? How would you compromise or tell the other person that their idea wouldn't work? I love the video! I can tell that you two care about Spells from Hell (Ive been a fan!)
Haha, good question! Sometimes we definitely had to "kill our darlings" and give and take a little to make sure the vision is aligned. There were many times when I realized Maria's point worked better for the story, and vice versa. Keeping the vision aligned helped us to see which decision to make!
I was today years old when I found out that Webtoons are made not by a single person. Or writer+artist combo tops. 0_0 As an aspiring webtoon creator... I am confusion. Also just how much money does it bring if one title can support so many people involved? 0___0
Hi!! Oooh to clarify, most webtoons you see on the platform are created by independent creators just like you! I work as an employee at webtoon to produce webtoons under the company name in order to support things such as brand collaborations! We make series like Batman: Wayne Family Adventures and book adaptations! We make up a very small portion of the originals series (maybe around 5%). :) Hope this helps!
I think your team and you both did an amazing job creating this beautiful Webtoon. I loved reading the Greenlight preview of what was to come. As you are both Chinese American, I always wondered why the characters that are hinted to be Chinese don't look like it (James, his parents, the Black Tortoise clan leader, and his daughters, etc.) Was this a decision you both came to or was it unintentional? Did you mean to have generally the same facial template for most of the characters? These comments aren't meant to be negative, I just always wanted to ask and didn't know you had a RUclips channel.

Great seeing the brainstorming and effort behind the Webtoon! Sometimes we forget to appreciate the team behind this great story :D
