@@billycastle2824 dude, he has spent so many hours speedrunning this game. He has memorized what to do in each level, he has played more of this game than we can imagine. Just because he doesn’t play as much as he used to, doesn’t mean he still hasn’t played a lot.
Wanna know what would be a cool 1-1 remake? 1-1 except it's only the blocks you'd typically step on during a speedrun, all of the other blocks are removed
@@ultimatebreak827 yeah there’s no point to the pipe in Mario 35 because when you go in it you only get 19 coins but if you don’t then you can get 20 coins from the 1-up alone and more time from all the enemies.
I'd have loved for you to do this in some sort of SMB1 editor tool to get the right physics. Then you could 've attempted to speedrun them as normal only to mess up because a block is two spaces to the right. Or potentially adapt on the spot, who knows. Sounds super fun to me, at least.
well I've seen a lot of people trying to do the same challenge and most of the times they can't go further than the beginning of the level, put in some pipes and the staircase before the flagpole so I think this was a great attempt
I've never played Super Mario Maker, but I am so glad that I discovered the streams of that game. AVGN was who first qot me started watching video game content online, which lead to watching some Bootsy Spankins and Mike Mataei playthrus, as they were both with Cinemassacee at the time. From there the RUclips algorithms recommended CarlSagan42's Super Mario Maker videos which I instantly became hooked on. From Carl's channel I learned about MitchFlowerPower, AndrewG, and Kosnic. I became hooked on Summoning Salt, Bismuth, and Karl Jobst.
I remember trying to do this as a young kid. Then I realized I had no idea how much space there was in-between the start and the first goomba. Much harder than it seems.
I think some of the people in chat lied a few times. In the sub world of the first level you made, you could have made the pipe go all the way to the top as long as it wasn't touching the top of the editor. It was just fine how it was. Also you still could've made the blocks on the right bricks, as long as the part where you want the screen to stop moving was a hard block or ground block. A smaller thing for 1-2 is you could've made the pipe lead into another pipe, which brings you to the secret area with the blocks and the coins. considering you were just recreating the design of the level and not how the actually function, it doesn't totally matter but I thought I might as well let you know. great video as always though :) I couldn't've come close to recreating these as well as you because I haven't played smb1 very much. I'd be happy to see more smm2 content
@@Kosmicd12 holy crap, Cosmic actually noticed me. Even if a rom hack of it does exist, I still think it would be fun to see you try to interact with the original as the physics are most likely quite different and I kind of want to see how a speedrun of that would compare.
Just a tip (taken from Mayro’s SMB level recreations): You can place a big goomba (or any other enemy that takes up two tiles horizontally) below the a small enemy and it will stack and the small enemy will be placed half a tile off-grid. If the big enemy is spawn blocked (by ground or other means), the small enemy will spawn in the same location, offset from the grid, without the big enemy.
