Compliments on the review, exhaustive and precise! As an owner of the same bike and exhausts, I can tell that the sound it's very close to the real feel on person!
I rode around for a while with mistrals on my 750 and no DB killers in…now I understand why no cars wanted to drive behind me LOL…115 db omg The sound was really damn good, but I out the killers back in. I have a tune on mine but still seems to run a little stronger all the way around with the killers in. Great video, thank you for sharing it with us!

I like this comparison, big weight difference, the gap doesn't bother me at all, in fact I think it looks fine, I actually prefer the sound with the db killers in so that's perfect, no extra money to have to spend on a remap. Thanks for the video.
Yeah , I do like the DB killer in sound. Even in the video it's hard to compare just how loud the exhaust is with the dbk out. Wife was sitting about 20 ft away, and said that it hurt her ears.
Great video and attention to detail! If I get an 850 V7, I'll be watching this again, and I subscribed because of this video. I have an 18 V7III Special with long Mistrals. The motorcycle has 18,000 miles, the Mistrals 16,000. Mapping isn't required on mine with the DB killers out, but I also have an unusual (in the US) E3 compliant version with cats that I got from Germany because they were cheaper. No remapping was required, although I did try an aftermarket map briefly. The sound is deep, and I measured decibels but don't remember the numbers... maybe I'll make a video about them. After two years, they look like new and sound great. I'm sure yours will be the same.

While I don't think you'll get any complaints from the authorities or neighbors, I did notice the disclaimer on the supplier's site for use of the bike with the Mistrals, this is usually reserved for parts which don't comply w/ U.S. emissions requirements. 10 lbs loss is really impressive, it's very tough to cut that amount of weight, makes the price easier to swallow:-) Find some tight twisty back roads and enjoy the new sound.
Great review. I like the sound both with the db killers in and out but will have to try it out myself to see which I would keep. I like the fact that keeping them in I don’t have to anymore though. Thanks!
i would also say that with the sound in, you're not obvioius to police for being too loud, it's just a bit more bite, but not obnoxious. works really well.
Great video. The DB killers out sounds fantastic. I've got a 2014 V7 with Agostini slip ons. With the DB Killer's out it's unbearable, obnoxious and embarrassing. DB Killers in still sounds louder than yours with the DB's out. I prefer your sound
Thanks for doing this awesome sound test. Actually, the stock don't sound too bad compared to other videos out there. I would love the Mistrals but not want to risk it being illegal and also affecting the insurance.
Am sure I read somewhere that a 'get around' for the remap was as simple as disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then connecting it back up with the new exhausts on - the ECU will then 're learn' the parameters for correct fuelling.
If I heard well, you say that the cat is out on these mufflers, however I just ordered a pair, and it is written clearly that they have a catalyst Euro 5. Great video though with proper recording, thanks. Gerard (Paris France)
Satin, polished or black on my v7 ii stone in black? Black is t really an option since the rest of the exhaust isn’t black probably polished looks best(?)
Any thoughts after almost a year with the Mistrals? I plan on using with the DBkillers in and I was thinking if the engine runs well and whether they get annoyingly loud on longer rides.
after a full year with the mistrals, i have no complaints, and am enjoying them even more as the bike really set's in. the sound is nice, and audible in the lower speeds, once you get up to highway speeds of around 70-75 mph, they are still audible but not very loud, and definitely not overbearing. the wind is much louder than them, i still would like to try with the db killers out, i just don't want to flash and remap in order to test it.
Hi! Congratulations for the video! I wonder to ear the sound of the longer version exausts ! Is the sound the same as the short version or there are diferences?
as far as i know, Mistrals are the only ones on the market for the 2021 v7 850 as of right now. I looked at a lot of the previous year models and the different exhausts on those, and the mistrals were always one of the better sounding ones. That and price and availability played a factor. lol
Thanks dreamweaver, I’m persuaded, they’re a must have. Does this really remove the cat, I don’t understand how they can meet the same Euro5 standard as the stock pipes with a cat, but I’m not arguing. Thanks for the great video.
Appreciate the video. I actually think the original silencers are best. They look ‘right’ and I think the quieter more refined sound sounds the bike better (think Rolls Royce with a noisy exhaust, just not right).
Thank you, so these ones are specifically made for the 2021 V7 850. If you don't take the decibel killers out no ECU remapping or tuning is required, however, if you take out the decibel killers then you do need to have a remap for the ECU.
Sound is pretty much the same as my 750... in real life I would probably hear more difference 😅 With the Mistrals the bike sounds like it looks, great!doesn't it?nice video
@@dreamreaver23 I kept them in. Taking them out makes the engine run especially lean.
