Standard with no mods here 05 model. After swapping mine I noticed increase fuel consumption... it definitely increased torque at lower revs. However the science standard has been set here in this awesome video. So i shall swap mine back for week and see if I notice any differences. I will will return 7 days.
Do it! Yeah when I did mine when years ago on my first ute I could have sworn it changed things, I'm still not 100% convinced it didn't but I just couldn't find a way of proving it did anything. Thanks for watching!
I agree with you, I cannot tell the difference. I cleaned the intercooler ( which wasn;t really oily) and did feel that made a slight improvement, Never going to set the world on fire with one of these but I still like it. Thanks for the vid.
Not with the WLT anyway, I'm actually planning to do an rb30 swapped 2wd in the future so hopefully that'll set the world on fire. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.
Im a bit late. But i did this mod a while back. From my understanding, i think it has nothing to do with turbo spool time, but it helps with the fuel pump plunger open up quicker early on, so u get off the line quicker. And i think its only noticable for stock engines, since my 2008 ranger is bone stock.
Tried on my Mazda. The only subtle difference is the turbo spools early on I guess it's only good for catching upto speed during traffic stops or intersections haha
made a massive difference for me all that low end i was missing was now there, already had instant spool but waiting for the boost to fill the pipes took too long but now all the fuel
From everything I tested there was no difference, low end, high end, fuel economy nothing. But if you can think of a way I can test it that would give different results let me know, I'm more than happy to revisit this comparison in the future. Thanks for watching!
Something to try would be get 2 boost needle guages and put them at either end of the system and observe. Have both hoses the same length. tape them to windscreen?
I know i'm a year late to this party, jsut wanted to pich in with my thoughts. I think it is because of that masive inter cooler you have along with the rest of the mods on the intake line reducing the resiscance. there is basically no pressure drop accross the intake line and in fact may even be more presure drop over the narrow hose wtih friction. This machine might benifit from as small length as possible from the intake to the compensator. And probe the boost reading from a different line rather than making a T . Probibly pennies to be mad in the difference though. Let me know what you think of this as an idea. From what i know, this mod helps systems with a little more inpedance in the intake line to get going. As mentioned by another coment, you may be much beter off seeing if you need to clean the inter cooler first.
Hey mate, yeah I could probably alittle something explaining how to fit gauges. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching, I don't know when I will have that video ready though.
Off the line is better, towing is better. Especially off the line. I was towing a 1ton camper. Had to go low range to get through some intersections. But with the swamp i could get through no worries
@@Finndawg mine is stock. Without it I can hardly tow my camper. I intend on doing a billet turbo and intercooler as you have done. I have taken it off thinking it did nothing, while towing my camper. Then couldn't get through a set of traffic lights in Newcastle on holidays. Had to put it in low range to get through. It was a slight uphill. After putting the hose swap back on. Then had no issues with the bill starts with the camper. It's not an amazing power fix or anything. Just towing off of the line
Heya, I was just curious if your boost tee may be effecting the results. As it directly sets the boost in the system. Thus making the mod redundant. Dunno? Just a thought...
Maybe! I'll have to do a short follow up without the boost tee and compare if that affects anything, very valid point. I don't think it would but worth a shot.
Hey man, I replied to your last comment asking the same thing. I got it custom made at an engineering shop nearby to where I live. But it is based off the Gareth Brunt design which is basically identical. Cheers for watching!
@@Finndawg ohh I see. Seems it increased some boost based on your video. I'll try it on my Ford Everest 2005 4x2. Thanks 😊 does it affects your fuel consumption?
They're by 4x4concepts for a pk/pj ranger but I'm not sure if they make them any more. You can get identical ones for the same price on ebay though, about $200.
In theory, the pressure should be the same from the turbo to the manifold. It's not a liquid, it's not flow. Unless there is a massive restriction in charge piping, this mod should make absolutely no difference.

Update?
Same here. What's the update?
You ever end up doing it?

Nice 👌
That's what I noticed and have had it on for 10 years. Taking off with a heavy trailer is noticeably different.

That's actually a really cool idea. Thank!
Where did you get your pillar pods?

Is it possible to do a vid on how you fitted those gauges, got JRP boost gauge just curious how you fitted them

@@Finndawg all good dude take your time
Where did you buy the pillar mount from bro? Looks so clean! Need one for mine

Apparently not my dude. It could be because my setup is far from stock, but as you can see by the results, it's not better for anything.

Can you tell me where you got the pipe from the radiator and a little explains from adapter from radiator to the pipe

What are the pros and cons? Will it damage the turbo due to overboost? Watching here from Philippines 🇵🇭
It doesn't cause over boost, pros and cons and nothing, this mod does absolutely nothing.

kapatid! na tryko yan may slight difference sa acceleration sa low end pero mas mausok sa eve ko kaya nag stock na lang ako
@allanfigueroa2909 same sir. Sinubukan ko din pero after ilang weeks ibinalik ko din sa stock. Tama ka sir medyo mausok nga

Hey mate, thanks for the comment, if you watched the video I came to that conclusion. The mod did absolutely nothing I could prove.
What gauges are they? Any faults?
SAAS digital muscle series, absolutely great, no faults and accurate. One of their more expensive series though.
My stock 2004 had a noticeable difference.
Nice dude, maybe it has more noticeable effects on the egr models
