      @Finndawg No problem, just a rarity to find in-depth content on this engine.
      For its time, it was a good design, and I like them.
      They also seem to go forever, usually outlasting the "ute" itself. Like I've seen many cases where the car is falling apart or needs a lot of work, but the engine is still sweet.

  • @ongedre

    Nice work mate. I'm building mine at the mo. For charge piping it has to be flanged otherwise it will keep slipping off. Get it flanged then make sure the hose clamp is right up against that flange :)

    Hey Mate, Love your vids. I've heard that the radiator fans actually suck about 5HP of power. Have you considered removing the blades and using an electric fan? I did this in the early '70s and it made the engine perform much better and reduce running costs. The engine is a shit ton quieter too. Maybe do a vid to prove or disprove the theory?

    That inlet manifold is not gonna have equal air flow per cylinder. That is making it a much finer balance of EGTs/soot/power and makes tuning much more limited. That would be the next thing to address IMO. Great build otherwise.

    • @Finndawg
      @Finndawg  3 дня назад

      That's where firing order comes in, as well as the fact that the intake is charger with pressure from the turbo, I'm sure in higher performance applications what you said is definitely valid. But in this case I think it's perfectly fine.

      12.4l/100km mate, not amazing but not terrible either. That was on that setup in the video, the newly built engine may be different so I'm going to compare that now also.
