Love the vids. I think the big issue you are facing is fitting ships efficiently. Some kinetic for shields, explosive for armor etc and ranges. AI will try to get shortest range weapon to bear, even in a slow ship even in a fragile ship.
I would have gone for the Gryphon missile Cruiser, with your play style of going in or staying away trowing missiles is the best option, but your own way is also entertaining just waiting for the next rebuild effort :P Also to answer your question about not being able to outrun anyone is simple, Your a Modified Tanker a bloody Tanker, not a Combat oriented Military ship. so your slower than other ships so also easy to catch.
@@TimoRedbeard I did not check what faction it was from, but you sure it was not from the SFC ? I have not seen to many non SFC ships in there shops (unless its the black market) But yes later it is not gonna be viable I mean you already have a hard time and its still early in the game.
Today we learned that when one isn't running an overpowered mod, one needs to at least give orders to their ships if they aren't going to manually fly. Either that or have a fleet much more "powerful" than the enemy's fleet.
If you need support, you can go to Arkonia, use the skill follow me and call the syndrian fleets. Then you go to the pirate station and and join the combat there.
i think you should try test your ship in simulation first against a Paragon. my logic - "if my ship can take down a Paragon then she can take down anything with more ship of the same setup" lol
Mods are *very* time consuming and difficult to get running, so even in best case scenarios, expect the first early builds to show up a couple months from now.
Ah yes, that moment when your AI being dumb and causing your fleet to get wiped out. Funny how much having one officer change in battle. Edit: as far as I remember, I find the sindrian fuel fleet easy to hunt without any of its bigger ships since those are better equipped despite being clunky and slow. What I can say is if the AI are being dumb some manual help is probably recommended.
You are going to have to start flying your ships at some point. There are weapons and ships that are best in the AIs hand, but at the same time there are ships the AI cant deal with at all.
@@TimoRedbeard Also Syndrian Fuel Company ships have far to many and too large hardpoints for their flux capacity. So its often better to leave a lot of them open and just go with the weapons you can actually use. Starsector has essentially 3 policies: 1. Get in an personal with the enemy need speed -> safety overrides or the ship has a boost ability need damage -> lots front facing guns and acelerated ammo loader Often a combination of Safety Overide on a faster ship with lots of anti shield missles and assault chain guns or any other high armor shred works well. Or you can go heavy armor, shield shunt, armored weapon mounts, safety overirde and go in as a wreaking ball. I tried the a few Syndrian ships with this and one of the cruisers worked quite well. I essentially did only use 4 of its 15 weapon mounts and for a 25 DP ship I was killing anything under 40 DP in a 1v1 just with the no brain tactic of charge them!!!! 2. Out range them need speed and range, usually a lot of cruisers here with large energy/balistic mounts There is the Syndrian Fast Destroyer who would be good with this. 3. Missle spam capital ships One of the reasons the UAF is considered OP is because this build is terrible vs them since their fighters and PD focus counter it so hard. Recommended initial fleet: 1 Heavy Syndrian Armored Cruiser for close range as a flagship for the DPS 3/4 Fast destroyers with long range energy weapons and missles as support in the hands of the AI. to distract and keep their shields up, hence slowing them
In all seriousness, have you considered purchasing an extended warranty (insurance) on your ships so that when you inevitably get fleet wiped you don't have to start from scratch or reacquire the rarer ships like the FmcF Delivery? You were making fun of insurance brokers, but I think you yourself were the ideal candidate. Also how are you going to sell an extended warranty if you are not willing to have one yourself? Show that Sindrian fuel values their own products enough to use it themselves and is not the shady shadow military that some lunatics think it is.
The problem I have with the insurance is that it literally costs 90% of the value of the ship hahahaha, it doesn't make a ton of sense to me. I love the meme tho ;)
I hope I don't come off as screaming at you "How are we slower than a massive pirate fleet" From what I've seen so far all the SFC ships you've brought are all retrofitted fuel tankers, The pirate faction fleet doctrine is hit and run tactics. Augmented Drive Fields might help you out of combat and Safety Overrides in combat but I suspect speeds always gonna be an issue for you.
Sometimes is better to not overshoot on flux in ships cause otherwise they become usless in combat, You don't need to fill every spot on every ship, you're playing with a lot of mods so if you don't know a ship don't engage until you're sure you can take them or at least find out what that ship actually does first.
Also, it seems to me that the independents hate your guts (I'm not sure) but if they do, you might need to consider doing a different playthrough cause that is a big no-no.
One last thing, about flux in ships: If your ship uses 900 flux and your shield uses 100 then your ship uses 1000 flux.. take that into account. The flux on your shields ADDS to the flux of your ship.
