you cant understand the feeling of doing vacations on an island, greece spain or whatever. as soon as you step your foot there your mind gets right away clear. the feeling is magic. youre welcome to greece
When i retire. I am retiring to Greece. Ive already traveled to Greece and also many many other countries. I fell in love with Greece and her people. Cant wait to visit Greece again next summer!
I remember your video in Amsterdam where you ate boiled eggs with toast for dinner to safe money and look at you now, eating good food all day on the Greek islands. Nice to see the change 👍
I really enjoy the "off the beaten path" aspect of your videos. Greece seems surprising and beautiful, no matter where you are. People seem friendly as well. Good job Gabe.
Ikaria has so much to see. You didn't even scratch the surface. You need at least a week or two to explore the island and you must go to a traditional Ikarian "panygiri". This island ' s got so much history. You definitaly need to learn more about Ikaria. my favorite greek island for sure....
Hello fellow Ikaria! My Pou-Pou and Yia-Yia come from Ikaria! My Yia-Yia's parents came from a village in the mountains and my Pou-Pou came from the village around Livadi.
I am proud of you Gabriel, thank you for your videos as you bring me fond memories of Greece. I have been away from my homeland over 60 years and yet my heart has never left.
Ow...the things your eyes have seen. How lucky you are to travell at Greek islands, finding all the hidding treasures each one has to offer. I feel a little bit jealous of you, been able to travell on my country more easly than i do but through your videos i feel like been a part of your trip.Thank you for that.
Pastitsio is a traditional Greek dish, but the recipe with the besamel sauce was the invention of the Greek chef Tselementes and is a staple of Greek cuisine ever since.
Gabe, your new friend was lovely and great company. I hope you two stay connected. That food looked amazing too! ❤️ What a great day of adventuring and sights.
Really cool island in every possible way, as I remember. No wonder it is a blue zone. I was there in the summer of 1988. Incredible islanders, fantastic visitors, and dances every night! Never had the chance to go there again. Thank you, Gabriel!!
Gabriel, thanks for taking us all along for the ride. I visit Greece frequently and have watched many travel videos to prepare me for any upcoming trips. NOBODY is as enthusiastic, thorough and informative as you are on the subject, keep up the good work please!
Gabe thank you for filming the frescos at the monestery, you did it so beautifully with the music in the background! It almost made me tear up a bit it was so perfect. Even the crack that ran across from one side to the other along the roof was perfect. Perfect imperfection. Sublime! 🙏🏼🙏🏼😍😍💙💙
This Greek series has been brilliant Gabe, has definitely made me want to visit the Greek islands at some point. Great to see you enjoying time with a fellow traveller as well, enjoy 👍🙂
GABRIEL: 💪. IKARIA is a famous "blue zone" -- one of a few in the world ! Where people lived the longest because they did not eat "sh_t" processed western food and very limited alcohol. People use to live to over a 100 years there !
@@easynow7801 So did I when I was younger and FAR less aware. Wisdom comes with age my friend. I have seen what alcohol has done to most people I know. The alcohol industry owns TV and Media. That why you see them normalizing the "poison," in commercials, and acting like knowing wine makes you some sort of sophisticated suave (idiot). It is ALL a scam my friend. Some day you will see why I am this way. I use to be the opposite.
Loved this video and all of your Greece series. It’s amazing to explore these islands where mass tourism has not come yet. I hope it stays this way. It was similar in Croatia when I was a kid (in the seventies/eighties) but now Croatia is becoming too popular and touristy, a victim of it’s own success. Hope Croatia will manage to preserve it’s natural beauty, despite the tourism. Greece islands are so special because they still have this untouched beauty and the feel of freedom to explore cool, authentic, historic places without crowds of tourists. Amazing to be able to find random old churches with frescos or the one build with stones without the mortar. The best is how most of them are open and free to explore, which means there are no crimes or vandalism happening on the islands. Precious these days! Enjoy your journey and take us with you. Really appreciate it!
That "alcove" at 4:38 is actually the called the Sanctuary or Holy of Holies. It's usually separated by what's called an Iconostasis and the Temple Curtain and it's where the alter normally is. It's forbidden for anyone to enter it unless a priest, bishop, deacon or alter server unless a layman is given permission, but I didn't see an alter so maybe it's not used for liturgies anymore? Love the videos, aderfe! Makes me proud 🇬🇷
So good to see you traveling with a new friend and subscriber! Beautiful frescos at the church! Beautiful island thanks Gabriel for sharing your day! ~Cara
Gabe, Maui say you seem way more excited about this girl than any of the others in your videos. I’m only excited if she wants to continue on the same path in same way as you. 🤞🤞
Theo-skepasti means a roof provided by God (or covered by God). So, obviously, the structure is a little church using the rock formation, slab, as the overwhelming roof and building some space against the rock. Theo-skepasti = god's roof, hence the name of the little church. Since a lot of Greek churches on the islands are nothing more than conversions of ancient Greek temples it's easy to imagine a prior temple there under the giant stone provided by God Zeus or demi-God Hercules.
Im so glad i found your beautiful channel today! Subed without second thoughts. Thank you for advertising our amazing country Greece in such a nice way!
Nice to see u explore a bit w/ a new friend. I ran into some Estonians in Belize once, they seem to get around, haven't run across Lithuanians or Latvians yet. It seems like Estonians are well educated and prosperous, I can see why the Baltic countries don't want the Russian influence anymore, they do fine on their own!
Yeah, as a Lithuanian, can agree. The independence from Russia was and still is the best achievement of 20th century, I think, for all three Baltic countries.
You are always a great source of inspiration, I love Island hopping Greece and your videos gave me lots of ideas during the years. I cannot wait to go back to Greece this summer, I just hope I won't run into my ex Estonian GF as she already did it in my former spanish heaven, sometimes life is weird and whimsical...
Back in March 2022, I rented a scooter from Ikarian Way in Agrios Kiyrikos and explorered some of the paved and unpaved roads. I also stayed two nights in a stonehouse in the hamlet called Droutsoulas. I had a great time.
Beautiful as always , I enjoyed the video , it's nice to see a company with you . The churches ⛪ are overall in Greece , nice views . It's just incredible
Watching from Tampa, FL myself. It would not surprise me if his relative lives in nearby Tarpon Springs, there is a very large Greek community there. Cheers!
I first discovered dolmasdakias in San Jose (California). I've been a big fan ever since. Funny you're just discovering them now after all your Greek trips. Yum.
Raki wow I haven’t thought about that stuff in 20 years🤯. My only experience in Greece was from my time served in the Marine Corps and we once did a training exercise with Greek Marines on the island of Sardinia and I trained a case of MRE’s for a case of Raki👍🏽👍🏽
Greece is the ultimate destination. You made me laugh when you said Turkey changed its name. Is it because they are jealous of Greece? The only issue I have with Greece is the Euro. I wish it was the old currency Drachma. Enjoy your time Gabe.
I think the monastery on Amorgos that she is talking about is Panagia Hozoviotisa. The landmark of Amorgos ! Very picturesque, built on the rocks right above the sea.
Wonderful, beautiful Greece and the Greek people. Never change, especially in this world of turmoil. My wife and I have spent many happy times in your country. Oh if only I had been born Greek! ,
I hope you guys will stay in touch, that would be cool if you did! It's always awesome to meet new people, everyone deserves a friend, someone to share exploring & going on adventures with as well. One of the most underrated Greek islands.

The most beautiful Greek island i have been to was Lefkas or Lefkada. Omg so amazing
The best thing for Lefkada is an island but you pass in 2 minutes, by car, no ferries 😂😂😂
Gabriel your enthusiasm is inspirational, greece should make you a greek citizen. Love your videos.
We don’t want him here
Your great affection towards Greece really shines in all your videos! This girl from Tallinn is really pretty and cool!!! Love her accent!
Thanks for promoting Greece and her beauties !!!
Love the frescoes.... spectacular photography..... gracias, Efharisto
She has a lovely accent and perfect English. Another great island with lots to see.👍😊
When she's there in a bikini I don't think Gabriel's primary focus is her English level, if you know what I'm sayin ...
I love traveling alone and meeting new people/friends along the way. Can't wait to get on the trail again. Thanks Gabriel. Cheers.
