That $0.95 Snickers is a lot cheaper than ATM fees. I do the same thing for a couple of reasons. One is to save money over the $5.50 in fees per transaction. The other is when I’ve already reached my daily ATM limit, and still need more cash. The nice thing about Walmart is that there are plenty of items under $1, and you can do it over and over until you have all the cash you need. Just the other day I bought 20 individual pencils at $.25 each. I did 20 transactions at self checkout, and $5 later, I had my $2,000 in cash!
I think the point was that they could get cash back without being charged an extra fee by an ATM. Nowadays, there's plenty of companies that have been patching this loophole because they need to make some money on their end as well.
@@TheFrankyMoon Thanks for clarifying because I didn't see the point of this. In my case I don't use cash at all. Reason? If you use only cash money, you're not accumulating and gaining cash back at all. Using credit cards linked with cash back apps is the best thing you can do to gain extra money while shopping. These are my four apps I got linked to all my credit cards. Bridge Money, Benjamin, Frisbee, and Pogo. When I do one transaction, I get cash back from all 4 apps. Nobody should be using cash only. You're not gaining anything back. Even if you sent one penny to a friend using PayPal with these 4 apps linked together. You just converted 1 cent into 8 cents in cash back because you got 4 apps and each transaction you gain 2 cents for 1 app so four apps gives you 8 cents per transaction. This comment is very real and I figured this method out way to late in life. Late is better then never finding out about it.
Seriously, I usually end up buying a lot of items before getting cash. Never crossed my mind to just buy one item, like candy to get cash. It beats going to the bank waiting in line or just having to make more stops

I do something like this when I have a $100 bill that are almost impossible to use in stores these days. I'll by a loaf of bread or some other small ticket item and then put the $100 bill in and get my change back with no hassle.
I now understand people buy candy bars just to withdraw cash (to avoid ATM/Bank fees). When purchasing a candy, you’re at least getting something out of it.
