Exactly, I hate it when people try to put two very different emotions together in this way. They contradict each other. I've felt envy with guys and girls growing up, and still sometimes do, but I'm aroace, and I've never experienced a romantic crush in my life. Honestly, people just sound so stupid to me when they try to "explain" hidden meaning(keyboard put meeting) behind emotions while they themselves don't even understand the emotions clearly.

But as a result, she had to pretend to be something she’s not and is turning her back on her old friends.
That’s not a good sign and this new kid could play an antagonist role (not evil or anything).

The creators actually said the reason that there are boys and girls as emotions in Riley’s head is because they wanted a group of emotions that could be more relatable to EVERYONE. Boys and Girls.

this is disney we're talking about, they won't have openly gay characters unless they're easily swept under the rug or cut out so they won't affect profits. the owl house tried and it got the show cut down before there was even any real confirmation of the main character liking another girl.

-Yes, there are a handful of examples of gay disney characters. they are the exception, and their identities are almost always minimized and/or in projects disney knows no one will see.
-Lightyear was less than fifty seconds of footage that Pixar employees had to fight to stop Disney from cutting out
-Dana Terrace was very vocal about the difficulties of even getting in the door with a show involving gay characters, and the show was very clearly cut down when others of its kind weren't due to that aspect.
-Alex Hirsch was in a similar boat, with Disney not letting him have gay characters in Graviy Falls, even as nameless extras.
-Strange World was advertised to maybe five people, so let's not act like it's exactly groundbreaking rep when you couldn't name five people that you know watched it
-Disney just does minimize gay scenes for the sake of profit, it makes it easier to cut them out the same way they have done and still do

Disney is having the PJO series, there are canonically gay(bi) characters in the books. Nico di angelo and will solace for example. But also magnus chase (despite not being apart of the main series)

Because we are desperate for any representation we can get. At least with Gwen the colors of the trans flag are all throughout her story in Across the Spiderverse. It's my headcanon, even though it probably won't be confirmed or anything, just because there is so little mainstream explicit trans representation to go off of. In middle school, there are popular, cool people. These people usually have charismatic characters and tend to have more friends than others. The ones these people befriend are the "cool kids" and if you wanna be popular and cool, you gotta befriend them, so Riley just wants to be her friend so she can be on the "cooler side" and dont stand out in an awful, dumb way

There is no way Disney has the balls to make Riley bisexual. The last time they even had a gay character (not side character that shows up for 5 seconds but like a main character) they basically pulled the plug on advertising funding and most people haven't even heard of the movie. This movie is immensely popular and they're definitely pouring money into it and the advertising. I don't really think we're going to see them risking angering the conservative moms.

Now before someone swoops in with some rage reply “yOu’Re HoMoPhObIc” or whatever else, I never said there was anything wrong with these additions, it’s just really difficult to be ok with being shoved in children’s movies. Just about any recent Disney (or any other movie belonging to a big company) movie has had some sort of extra thing that is put in subtly or not so subtly (that tends to also be a movie with a horrible plot or is in general not liked by people as a whole) and that’s what this person above was saying. The only time I can think of speculation was Luca when people were suggesting it was a gay love story between Luca and Alberto, which it wasn’t, it was a fun little adventure regarding sea monsters and being on land for the first time. Although everyone has been saying things that the original commenter outlined, those are valid statements regardless of whether this is all speculation or not because people have been seeing a trend and want an actually good original movie that focuses on the plot and quality, not simply just representation or whatever. These specific questions or comments don’t have to mean someone is shaking in their boots from the idea or whatever, maybe they are genuinely concerned for the integrity of a sequel which is based off of an amazing original movie and want to point out clues that lead to another possible theory. The theory I want to add, is really solid (coming from someone who barely survived middle school, junior high socially and is now just getting a bearing in sophomore year of high school) because they way Riley looks and feels in these clips are very much shared experiences for me when I was given just a little attention from a “cool and/or popular person/group.” The crush look was the way I expected Disney to go based on their recent track record, but the comments explaining its wanting to fit in, make more sense and is the most likely of the two to happen (I just think that it was not conveyed in the right way if that’s the case). Thank you for reading my ramble if you somehow got this far, and genuinely no one please get mad at this for some reason. I was just trying to clear something up and state my position on the matter.
