To all those wondering about the bad crimping within the wiring loom receptacle, I've repaired multiple camera malfunctions like this one by simply soldering the crimped cable and the shielding together even with the chasis of the connector. This requires a powerfull soldering iron as you need to do this quickly without any heat-induced damage the other wires and the connector body. But in my Mondeo as well as several other cars this was exactly the point of failure. Usually the camera itself works even if there is a lot more damage and condensation than the one shown in the video...
I had a failure of "crimped" connections like that make my tail lights stop working once. I didn't know I had a problem until a police officer called it to my attention... :-) This amount of stuff to deal with that problem is a perfect illustration of why I don't like to work on cars much, any more.
+FZet How did you clean the contacts and with what did you use? So have you had any more issues with the camera since you cleaned the contacts...any signs of the old problem creeping back???
Wow, quite a PITA that they went and changed the connector like that. Oh, you wanted your replacement camera to connect back to the system again? New harness too!
***** I did think WTF when they said it needed a new wiring harness. The old style camera is not available now, so unless you find one on ebay or some older stock somewhere you have to do the full replacement.
Hello Steve. Great video. Apologies this is so late. As the prices on these have gone up like crazy do you think it's possible to cut off the connectors and got new ones of a different design? Cheers
Hi Steve, I have the exact same fault, I'm certainly not going to pay the £400 that ford now want for the part. I'm going to dismantle mine at the weekend and have a look (Ford S-Max 2014) hopefully I can identify a problem at the plug. Do you know if its possible to replace the camera with an aftermarket camera and get it to work with the OEM park assist system?
Hi all, I have had a Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB head unit with a 7" touchscreen display installed in my 2013 Mondeo Titanium X. I also had a reversing camera installed and it works great. The only issue is that my parking sensors which used to BEEP in a different tone front and rear, no longer make any beeping sounds. Everything else works, including steering wheel controls, but just no beeps. My installer said that I had to lose the beeps as they came from the old stereo which was removed. Does anyone know if there is a component I can purchase that will likely reinstate the old parking sensor beeps also, whilst the vehicle is in reverse?
Hi Steve, thanks for the video. I'm just wondering if you have come across a case that both reversing lights are not working on a Mondeo MK4. However the parking sensors and reversing camera are still working as normal. I've done some researches which suggest there is no separate fuse on MK4 for reversing light, given the sensors and camera are working, almost certain the reversing light switch is also working fine? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi there. My camera stop working without any flickering. İ read on diagnostic fault U200D :11-28 on CMR(Camera module rear) . Would you help me about it. What kind of faults is that and is it possible to fix it or i have to buy new module? Thank you.
Hi Steve, can I ask you if you don’t mind? The radio in this clip is the same as the one in my car , unfortunately iv just had the battery change & Iv lost the code??? Great video. Many thanks!!!! I have the flickering. I also have a very blurry image. Is this normal with this generation Ford camera. How sharp was the image with the new camera?
It should be pretty clear. Not as sharp as you'd expect with today's technology but easily good enough to recognise everything in view. Check my newer video on this though as there may be another reason for the flickering.
great video . i have a 2012 mondeo titanium head unit has the silver ring on it but camera is not installed on the car .is there a reversing camera that can be fitter to the head unit
If you can get hold of the camera and control box, you can install the OEM module without needing to do anything other than plug it in. The head unit has a FAKRA connector on the back which is a composite video input. So any camera can be used to feed into this - it just won't have the lines on the image. Something like this would work: www.banggood.com/custlink/mmmmPj1yDM if you can find a long enough cable and adaptor for the head unit. Connect power to the reversing lights.
@@sdgelectronics thank you for the reply . So if I understand you properly I can just get the camera in the link and install it without the oem module and it should work

hi i watched your video but my problem is a little different the camera works but it doesn't show me the warning lines and my parking sensors don't work! what could it be thank you very much
Good morning and thank you for your quick reply! on diagnostics it says a problem in the camera, I replaced it with another one but it is second hand, it is highly likely that it is not correct, sometimes when the lines come out the sensors also worked, but lately there are no lines and the parking sensors are not working, what does that parking module look like?? where is it? my car is ford mondeo 2012 station wagon

Hiya mate, got a 2011 Money, reversing camera gives no image whatsoever. Have made and connected a new earth strap to the control module, and checked for water ingress in the camera connection...no liquid or signs of oxidisation. Could I pick your brains as to what you reckon the next step should be please? Ta muchly :)
It depends a little on what equipment or expertise you have. Next step would probably be to lift out the head unit and check the cable is correctly inserted. If you have a FAKRA cable adaptor, you could test the input on the headunit also. If it's all OK, you need to check the camera controller is getting power on the green connector.
