I really think Minis all need some sort of high-level brake light (like the last ones were fitted with) . The standard lights are just too low down compared to modern cars.
The small front indicator housings usually won't fit the same bulb as the rear, but do have the right bulb for your front. We sell indicator kits in three versions to account for the different from indicator styles over the years, so you would want the Type I if you have the standard housings up front.
@@Stevestonmotorco Are your Type 1s a "switchback" type which also operate the clear parking lights/sidelights? My Mk1 is a CKD export model, so the front parking lights/sidelights are actually inside the indicator housing rather than the headlamps - at the moment it's pretty unsafe because with a clear bulb and clear lenses, when you indicate at night with the parking lights already on, you can barely tell the difference when the indicators are on because they don't turn orange, but rather just get *slightly* brighter when flashing. Would love to be able to fit some bulbs which operate the white side lights but also switch to orange for the indicators, maybe these LEDs could be a good solution if that would work! Cheers
Hi Jack, the Type 1 is indeed a dual circuit and will be the driving light as well as the indicator. But the colour would be amber for both. The difference between indicating and steady driving light is quite clear because of the brightness.
@@Stevestonmotorco Nice one thanks for the info! I imagine the difference in brightness will be much better with proper LEDs than with the rubbish old incandescent bulbs of the '60s, so definitely something I'll have to consider. Especially after getting rear-ended today in my '91 Mini... maybe they'd have noticed I was braking if I had brighter bulbs :(
Hi Phil . Love the bulbs , have you ever watch my lads channel on utube. Total car reviews all about restoring classic minis ?? Uk 🇬🇧 based keep up the great work cheers Mark
Just checking if the indicator and stop/tail bulbs will fit in a Mini Traveller lense ok? I know they don’t have just as much clearance as the saloons.
@@Stevestonmotorco no problem thanks ... guess there would be but just thought I’d double check. Love the woody in your Instagram stories by the way 👌🏻
I'm pretty sure the guy that manufacture those for you is scamming you. I've had those for two years in my mini, and it cost me 3-4 $ a piece from AliExpress. Same for those LED Headlights, they are from Jeep Wranglers and cost about 50-60$ both from AliExpress. I disassembled them and I am 99.9% sure they are exactly the same. It's been two years since I'm not running any filament bulb in my mini, and my alternator thanks me !
@@rob_lightbody they published an update to the classic car HID/LED headlight bulb upgrade directive in March last year. Basically any car prior to '86 is exempt from the changes brought in from Jan '21.
I just installed these, the light is truly immense bright. I can highly recommend them to everybody.
Can confirm these work on a Ford Capri as well 😄
wow what a difference

These don't require any special resistors or flashers to operate correctly?
Nice update,Can u use the rear flasher bulb on the front flasher.I have a mk1 mini.

Hey mate, nice video! I have jewel lens on my mini and I was wondering if the led bolbs are colored?
Yes they are all coloured, so they work great for clear housings.

Hi, we actually haven't tried but there should be plenty of room to spare.

How can I buy a set ?
Do they work in mk1 lights?
Yes! Just the reverse bulbs are not applicable, of course.

@@classicminidetails8887 My pleasure!
But if one is working on getting a Mk1 as close to factory spec as possible they're oh so wrong 😉

A quand des sous titres en français ?
Led bulbs in optics which were not designed for leds, are a MOT failure in Spain.
Same in the UK, although they're mostly concerned with the headlights as they can dazzle
