    Awesome idea for the budget minded like myself. Looks easy enough to build. I'm going to get going on one this week.
    Thank you for sharing this video.🚂🚃🚃🚃

    Thanks for posting this video. I made mine last week, based on your design with some adjustments. Used two layers of wood, as I don't have the tool to carve the centre slot out. Took me two hours to make, so that was very fast earned.

      macnavi awesome. I’m glad it worked out for you.

    Other then the #6 jig I bought from Fastracks, I use all their templates to make all my turnouts. Many different frog #'s, curved and compound. Tim Warris has produce a great product and I support the company all the way. 2 thumbs way up!

    Would be handy to develop a scale along the center wheel track to duplicate future radius. Maybe make the center wheel so you could crank it to help feed the rail. I have a wood lathe so could turn the wheels to fit the rail profile.

      I just put a mark with a pencil. No need for a crank, it is easiest and fastest to push the rail through.

    There isn't a way to set an exact radius to it. I think different rail reacts differently, so I start out with a minimal radius and tighten it if I need to. I make a few passes until I am happy. I would think the store bought versions work the same way. Different code rail would bend at slightly wider or tighter curves.

    Could you show how you attached the rollers to the wood? I have ideas on how you did it but I would very much like to see it. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for sharing your nice idea...I too like Fast Tracks but their price of a rail bender is way too high.

    can you do a video on, or showing hand laying track?

    Hey I need one of those!
    I do like the fastracks stuff, so far I have a #5, and a #^ turnout fixtures for code 83, and 79 rail. As I have a lot of turnouts to make it was worth the outlay. Trade You some turnouts for a rail bender, as do not have a router to make one with. Let Me know.

    Nice design. But I would like to inquire one question. How to setting the rail radius on this module?

    Ah! very good idea, Thanks!

    You don't really NEED a router, a router will make it easy to build but you don't need it. Since seeing myowngods' design I plan on using, possibly, oak like his with two pieces of wood attached to a third. The two pieces will be set next to each other with a channel wide enough to fit the sliding piece. I have a piece of 3/4" plywood lying about so that will be the backing wood that the other two are attached too. Heck I just might make the whole thing out of 3/4" plywood. Not sure.

    How do you calculate the distance if the bearings from each other please

    • @MineMountModels

      If you are talking about during construction, between the 3 roller, then I just eyed it up.
      If you are talking about when I roll the rail through to bend it, then I start out with a wide curve. Then adjust it tighter as needed.

      Hi Ron many thanks for advice I have lengths of ten mile to bend to 8ft diameter curves wish me look.lol

    The top of the "slider" is a tiny bit higher than the top of the rest of the unit, so the roller on the slider must be a little higher than the 2 stationary rollers, or did you correct for this with a washer?

    • @davidnereson8192
      @davidnereson8192 4 года назад

      I meant two washers -- one under each stationary roller - ?

    • @MineMountModels
      @MineMountModels  4 года назад

      No. Each roller is in direct contact with the wood. The bottom web of the rail fits under and helps keep the rail flat as you push it through.

    Are the rollers square or oval edged?

    • @MineMountModels
      @MineMountModels  9 лет назад

      radivil They are the square edge rollers. But they still have a very slight rounded corner that just catches the base of the rail. That helps hold it down against the wood.

      Thanks. I've since made one myself. Mine is much shoddier and much more poorly made (and ugly) but it works like a charm.

      radivil Cool. I'm glad it worked out for you. Looks don't matter, functionality does.
      Keep model railroading
