In 1893, James Reid had a late night encounter with a freight train that left him with a severed foot. Reid survived his injury, and not wanting to just dispose of his foot, he gave it a proper burial in the Lutheran Cemetery, complete with a ceremony and a headstone. The inscription reads "Foot of James A. Reid - Severed by a Freight Train on Nov. 25, 1893." Reid lived for another seven years, dying at the age of 95.

What a fantastic way for the Church to remind them of the afterlife. Living life for the lord and in death, you're with the lord and forever in church because the lord loves all his children. I don't know what else to say about a cemetery being next to a church

With the people that give scott money i only i wish i had the money to give but i give next best thing my love.scott has the best viewers. i got my foot amputated when i was in my late 20's right after my dad died and it was a hard choice but i had to make it because i kept getting chronic infections. im glad i did because it was either my foot or my life. im glad to be here too. from Vickie🥰

Scott, my Ancestor was leaving a party and passed out on the train tracks and was run over. Pretty wild. This happened in Indiana in 1908. The article says, "From the facts of the fatal accident that could be learned it is thought that (name) was asleep on the tracks, when struck by the swiftly moving car. The motorman in charge of the car, declares that the man was lying on one rail, just at the break of a curve. The headlight failed to disclose the object on the track until the car was almost on it."
