Loticians should explain that retwists do not make the hair loc. They simply make it neat and create a uniform look. Lack of combing and the natural matting process makes it loc.

Budding is normal- you don't have to control the loc - they are suppose to bud and swell - please don't drink this kool-aid.. she doesn't know what she's talking about
Either way will give the same results. However, if you choose not to control the swell from the loose coil, it will take longer to form. Hence the reason for controlling the bud
Controlling the budding literally defeats the purpose of locs. Budding means it’s tangling. Budding gives the loc it’s eventual thickness. This is just over maintenance.
Yes it Will. I made that mistake. Trust me never again. Just let your crown grow and do it's thing. Locs have to Budd in order to loc. I'm on my third set of locs and i know that over twisting and not letting the budding alone was a huge mistake.

Budding is natural! 'Controlling the bud' is bad! She's combing out part of the loc and retwisting it. There is nothing I repeat NOTHING you can do about Budding. I'm over 2 years in and I still have buds. They don't look like it over Time because it evens out. Different parts of the loc bud at different Times they eventually all whine up the same size. But after about 1 month after a retwist I get new buds. Doing this hurts the locking process and prolongs it as well. Those buds are just gonna keep coming back.
