I just wanted to say thank you for posting this very easy-to-follow video! I have zero automotive skills and with your guidance I was able to replace my own car battery in my driveway and it's running again!
just swapped battery & realized there were no covers on either terminal when i removed the old one. is that unusual or normal for this vehicle? seems like it could be safety issue
Newer FCA/Stellantis vehicles use an Intelligent Battery sensor(IBS) mounted directly to your negative battery terminal. This sensor is self learning and resets by itself after 15 seconds of bieng disconnected. No adaptation required. Adaptation is not in the owners manual & I have not had any issues since replacement. This is much more common on Audis, VW, BMW and some newer fords. Check back. I am going to post a video on this…
The cloth battery cover is to insulate the battery. Prevents it from getting too hot or too cold. I use this grease on my terminals ➡ amzn.to/41zxFUG (prevents corrosion and acid plumes) Check out my recommended tune up supplies ➡ bit.ly/3V0n3f6
My question is for my 2020 , 2.0 turbo charged four-cylinder jeep Cherokee, when I go to replace the battery, If disconnected is it going to mess up the computer? Somebody said “well you could take that battery out and it’ll mess with the computer. That’s why they say take it to a dealer.” I was going to buy the battery and do it myself but that kind of scared me.
Removing the battery does not “mess with the computer”. At worst, it will reset your radio presets and you’ll have to set those up again. (Presets did not reset for me) Most dealer service bulletin start with “disconnect the negative battery terminal”
What they meant was the computer will have to reconfigure itself for about 10 miles because your new battery will be putting out a different voltage than the damaged battery. If the car runs weird for the first 10 miles that is the computer self adjusting the new battery. This doesn't always happen though in fact it hardly ever happens.
@@CForteCreate you are right its reconfiguring and u might get a "stop/start disabled" notice or "battery saver mode" certain functions like stereo wont be available either, until it "resets". However I will say this happens every time I replace the battery in my '15 jeep. Its pretty common esp if u drained ur last battery lol

Glad it helped.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. Just followed your video and it was perfect!
Followed these instructions, worked great. It did not mess with the computer. Everything was like it was before I changed the battery. Thank you
Glad it worked out for you.
I just had to do this again. Our AGM battery was no good after only 2 years.
Thank you Sir. Was able to change it myself successfully
Thank you - very to the point

Thank you so much for posting this. For some reason the alarm triggers when I connect the battery. Any thoughts?
Strange. Are all the doors closed?

Do 2019 Jeep Cherokees have auxiliary batteries for the stop/ start function?
Mine did not. If you have an aux battery, it will be under the passenger seat.
Hey how to set the outside temperature & time
These should automatically update after a while. Did this update?
I dropped that plate for the front screen inside of the hood. How do I get it out
Hope you got this out???😅
@@Inn-Overdrive no I never got it out 😂I haven’t had any issues though. Everything has stayed put.
2019 jeep Cherokee have auxiliary battery? Different
What about the start/stop system? There is a module on the negative ground cable. Doesn't a Battery adaptation needs to be performed ?

So if I have a 2019 jeep cherokee 2.4L with start stop there's not an aux battery that I have to change just the regular big one
@@seriko112I have the same Jeep except the v6. Did you have any trouble with the new battery?
Why is the battery cover necessary? To prevent corrosion? Just wondering bc my terminals always get corroded maybe should order 1

Dont these have two batteries you gotta chang?
@@LSDdreams808 only has the one under the hood. If you have a second battery, it would be under the passenger seat.
