Awesome! Yes, up here in Northeastern Ontario it's been a bad year for ice as well. But enough to still get out now on "most" lakes but some of the back lakes are still pretty sketchy. Just have to check conditions before riding a sled out on them. Stay safe and can't wait to see the next video!
Looks to be the start of good trip, Joe. Thanks for sharing and bringing us along. That's a luxurious tent setup now - you're going big! (The one comment from the wife - "Huh, Brandon got a new jacket.")
@@JoeHollandFishing - Wonderful! Thank you. You've got a set of books coming your way in the meantime. One with a north woods winter theme - poachers, ice-fishing, and a mystery in the woods.
We rented from the young biologist intern’s parents last week on Long Lake. Noah Frost, great young man. Telos, Great Lake, spend a week on High Bank every year
I'm with you, Joe - breakfast the best meal of the day. Especially Sunday mornings with a charge of cold beans leftover from the night before. Really enjoying the series, thanks...
Patti Nugent told me herself in 1977 that there were no smelts in the waterway until the ice fisherman came, SHE or AL did NOT introduce smelts to the waterway, and to suggest that about these legends of the waterway is shameful! That biologist should do his homework and not assume something like that, that woman cooked for me and my father and another legend Loyd Perkins for a week when we crash landed in front of her camp when my dads plane broke a cable on the ski, and we were stranded there for 7 days, I was 9 years old, the hospitality that woman gave us was the best I have ever had, and I have traveled the entire US and three other countries. That guy needs to apologize publicly for such an accusation or assumption, I enjoy your channel Joe, but I grew up in the waterway and I knew Patti Nugent, and when she retired she asked the state that my dad take over her camps, but the government got involved and the rest is history with Nugent camps.
I knew Lloyd Perkins the Game Warden at Chamberlain somewhat. Can you talk more on the State blocking your Dad from taking over the camps? That's interesting.
The original people that ended up with the camps and let them rot into the ground were involved with Webber oil, and also Mckernon, the future governor to be at the time, my father had an airplane, and was a builder, the state got involved and had the top candidates write an essay on what they would do to preserve the nostalgia of Nugents camps, my father was clearly the best candidate, and would have preserved her camps, and also had Patti’s recommendation to take them over, and the other guy got them, said they were going to plant trees, but it was all political, Lloyd Perkins had my dad build him two houses, and they used to hunt rabbits together and fish together, my Dad just recently died and Lloyd reached out to us from Florida where he lives now, he was a great warden. That’s our story Joe, maybe we will meet on eagle one of these years, I’ve been going there every year since my dad took me there when I was 3 in 1976, I still remember that trip, there was slush all over the lake, just like this year and I caught an 8lb cusk, we used to catch big ones like that all,the time up there, got pictures to prove it too, you’ve got a great channel, I enjoy watching it.
@@chrisbrann7733 thats great stuff thank you for sharing. I knew Lloyd by his nephew, We used to see him at Chamberlain or when he came south to Augusta area. He also trained one of my friends who took over that house after he left.
A fine young man. Met him at the camp at Umbazookus bridge at a gathering with the Minister who owns it. I pick her up by boat to come preach in the village on Sundays June through September.

Those buddy heaters make me nervous in enclosed spaces.

You're setup is nice looking! Very comfortable. What are your thoughts on colored line? Do you think fish see it or not?
I try and just keep it away from the lure far enough just in case as far as the nylon goes and use a fluorocarbon leader
Branden looking sharp this season you guys look like you're sponsored by ESKIMO...great upload as usual
Thank you. We thoroughly miss his red mustang jacket!
Yeah definitely. Was the first thing I noticed an the fish call
You doing the long lake derby?

Tell Kyle I said Hi!!
Ok will do, He's highly respected and respectable.

Why was. 1 of the maine wardens wearing what looked like a respirator
It’s a face shield for cold weather while snowmobiling
Awesome video, how long ago was this filmed? I'm curious because of Ice thickness.. been trying to get fishing for a couple of weeks now
This past week, just getting back and editing now.
40 min in. FISH, Previous footage all crap. Come on man!!!!!
well, sometimes that's the way it goes. Seeing the set up and most things that happen in a real day aint for everyone.
