    I bet you need the external battery when you're running it at 500W (1:49)! you can probably warm your hands around the antenna on a cold day though. ;)

      @atw98 5 лет назад +1

      You should be able to with Flex but you have to flash your recivers also and rebind. I am no expert but seems from superficially looking should allow 1w. But when you can get 28km with 500mw how far do you want to fly. We all love long range but if you ever fly over 20km, hypothetically of course, you'll find it's much further then you think. Also there's always 4g or UHF.

      @@atw98 28km with 500mw? Jeez, is that with a directional antenna?

    • @alanpaul1234
      @alanpaul1234 5 лет назад

      Yes, set as EU which gives 868Mhz and then select Flex. You need Open Tx 2.2.3 and flash the Module and receiver. There are some good videos on how to do this and it was pretty easy once you learn how. A benefit of flex is that it uses the lower power until the RSSI tells the Tx to increase the power. This is a good system now that FrSky have sorted all the teething troubles.

    Hi can I ask you a question please about this setup and receiver.
    Is this pretty much all you kneed for this kind of long range setup?
    the esc would plug right into that receiver and you are pretty much ready to go?
    im still trying to figure out how to use a long range setup I seen the dragonlink and crossfire
    This looks pretty simple I never actually seen where the esc's and servos go on these setups.thank you for showing the servo connected.

    • @AndrewNewton

      For long range you would use a flight control board. Receiver and servos plug into that.

      @@AndrewNewton thank you I really appreciate your time and reply.
      Even with that module plugged into the transmitter you still need the flight board controller?
      Im sorry lol now I got confused again and have no idea about this again.
      In the setup in your video with the module connected at the r9 receiver that wouldnt be for long range?
      Im sorry you dont have to reply I wish I knew what items to get been trying to figure this out for a long time.

      Dont need a flight control board for the range, but it is highly recommended for safety and stabilisation. If you're not using a flight control board you will need to have a receiver that has PWM outputs (some only have an SBUS output)

    Hi Andrew, my understanding is that the R9 2019 edition has ACCESS hardware in it. That said, it is not usable with older transmitters like the one in your video, or even your Taranis X9D.
    If you get 8 kms on the ground with it, even on 1000 mw I will be very surprised.

      That’s correct. ONLY ACCESS protocol radios are compatible with ACCESS RX’s. You can still use ACCST with R9M 2019 on older radios but not ACCESS. So to sum it up. To use ACCESS with R9M 2019 JR module you will have to upgrade to a new 2019 X9D Lite or X9D 2019 SE.

      Normal analog FPV range is about 3km (depends on the RF noise in the area) DJI digital can go maybe 7km with basic gear. But higher gain and directional receiver antennas and higher VTX power extends that range out to 10s of km.

    910Mhz is completely legal in Australia. Max power is 30dbm EIRP. This equates to 1W. To calculate EIRP just add your antenna gain in dBi to the power output of your transmitter in dBm. So if that antenna has a gain of 6dBi then you have to run the transmitter at 30-6=24dBm. Power output is easy to convert if you remember 1W = 30dBm and 3dBm change is double or half the power.
    So 27dBm is 30-3 so that equals 1000mW/2 = 500mW. Going further 27-3 = 24 so that equals 500/2 = 250mW
    It works up as well - 33dBm is 2W and 36dBm is 4W.
    EIRP is effective isotopic radiated power.

    The sbus port on back is for Bluetooth HC-O6 module. I have one connected to mine and use Telemetry Viewer App from Android AppStore to get all my Telemetry to tablet. Works pretty well. Not perfect but does work well for say downed planes you can use this to locate easily. Ask me how I no🥴

      Andrew Newton sorry I meant the Smartport on back. The 3 pins on right are used if you want to add Bluetooth module.
      You can use either HC-05 or HC-06. Modules. I’d suggest using HC-06. Much easier to program and all you need is $2 inverter

    Just watch 28km with the r9 reciver! It was crazy only on 500mw.
    Your lucky in that you are going bt able to flash the new ACCESS as you have the x9 lite. So stupid that a radio like the qx7/7s which is only a year old can not be patched.
    But as we are in the warm embrace of Nanna Australia with more open space then we can use we can't fly long range anyway. Thank God for that really wouldn't want to take advantage of proven sa features lke RTH and telemetry.

      @@AndrewNewton I don't post videos of any of my flights. I'm worried that I might inadvertently do something wrong and be reported as I'm in the city so it's really hard to have total control over environment. I do love long range and can't see how flying over bush is going to impact on anyone. Your flying field seems nice and large so I can see you'd get some satisfaction out of having fun there.

      Angus Whitehouse please just don’t fly in suburbia or subdivisions like I see lots of us Americans doing and posting their videos for likes and subs. They don’t realize they are hurting the hobby more than anything. I watched I video other day of a man from Florida flying his AR wing full speed 50ft over top of homes in a subdivision and he flow out well over a mile into neighboring subdivisions!! Stupid move on his part! Thing is when I mentioned he was flying in a bad area and to please stop he processed to call me the idiot🥴

      @@Freebird_67 I never post videos, only instructionals on 4g flight apps and how tool's. To many people have been fined thousands here CASA does a good job of monitoring sites for people breaking the lae, ìf not being a little overzealous! I'm in total agreement as Andrew would agree there's no point makeing the hobby look bad especially at this point in history when the media is flat out lieing about the risks of drones.
      If your going to post pleanty of great stuff to fly around here in Australia without breaking the lae.
