14:02 Yamazaki 🥃 on deck. I completely agree with you on Japanese whiskey, especially Yamazaki-it’s worth every penny despite the premium price. @ienkhbr thank you, it’s always updating and there will be a new video on it at the end of the month, but if you want a sneak peak. Check out my latest video :)
This is a great setup that actually gave me some ideas for my own. Every time someone says "small space" its just a full bedroom dedicated as their office. Its great to see someone else who has their office in their bedroom and are trying to make it work. Keep it up!
Thanks Keith! I try to keep it ‘real’ on this channel as I don’t want people to think stuff I put out is genuine or untrustworthy 😅. I’ve got more ideas for the space and hopefully a few big changes in the next few months
It takes a lot of work and talent to get such a small space so full of stuff but still looking very clean and organized. Well done. You've given me some ideas I'll be using later.
If you're struggling with keeping things secure when mounted under a desk, try using 3M Dual Lock. I use it on pedalboards and once things are locked in place they are REALLY hard to pull apart. Shouldn't have any issues holding power strips under a desk.
Great setup. One weird hing I focus on is, Brits will say "if I'm honest" and Amricans will say "if I'm beinghonest." Also, as a former ESL teacher who taught with both American and British textbooks in Japan, Brits say "got" a lot more than Americans. (e.g. I've got X instead of I have X.)
This is an interesting comment, but actually really helpful. A large majority of my audience is US based, so it’ll be good to tailor my content more towards them.
With the noise of your speakers it's the soundcard. If you mean that it's a con that they are quieter with the macbook, then get an audio interface. Maybe the macs output isn't providing enough juice without one. If you mean louder interference noise, then it may be that they aren't magnetically shielded and a gaming PC can cause interface noise, especially when stressing or utilising the GPU when gaming.
It’s related to volume, the speakers are usb so that may explain the lack of volume. Which is ironic as the Mac is touted as being able to support high impedance headphones, but cannot power speakers very well!
Upgraded my PC from Define R6 to the North last year too and that air vent mod looks quite neat. Not exactly necessary for me since I got the vertical mount with the mesh panel + fans on the side but I've been looking for an excuse to try out 3D printing =)
That is a real nice setup. I have one thing that I badly need from your setup. The USB Switch. Can you please confirm how long it takes to switch between MAC and WINDOWS using the switch? I had a similar one from different brand and that takes about 8-10 sec to switch, which is a deal breaker for me. If you can confirm if UGreen is better, then I might right away get one! Thanks in advance.
The switch I have is instant. But that’s only used for the speakers. My keyboard is wired into my PC and for my Mac I use Bluetooth. So to switch keyboard from Mac to pc I just hit function U to turn it to wired mode.
II came here because I was wondering what is the wallpaper you use (the diamond pattern). so nice! But your set up is nice. I have the same color theme going - walnut and black.
Very nice setup. Definitely taking some inspiration from it. Just one question - how does the PC connect to the desk? I didn't see any connecting cables.
Thanks Simon. Long story short. There is a 5m DP cable, and a 5M usb extension cable with a usb hub plugged in for all my accessories. It's then fed down the shelving, underneath and then up the cable spine!
This is an awesome use of space! Can i ask what the dimensions of your room are? I have a similar sized room, i think, and ive been trying to think of ideas of how to utilize the space as best as i can
Great setup! Im curious how you switch between your Mac and pc with the same peripherals. Also curious how your cabling your desktop that far away from your desk.
I use Bluetooth for my keyboard on Mac and usb for pc, I only need to switch the setting under the caps lock when switching, I’m also using a 5m display port cable from the pc to the monitor and the Mac is hooked up to the monitor through the thunderbolt dock.
Are you using an external sound card to connect your speakers to your computer? That could be why you're experiencing volume drops when connecting them to your Mac. I've been using a Komplete Audio 6 sound card for the better part of 7 years as I've been using monitor speakers + subwoofer (Yamaha HS8's + Yamaha sub) and have experienced no issues with volume across my MacBook Pro and my gaming PC.
Could be worth trying a sound card out if the volume issues are bothering you, they tend to provide better quality sound output too rather than relying on the inbuilt DAC in your pc/MacBook. Awesome setup btw, going to take some inspiration from your setup as I'm in the middle of upgrading my own!@@ChrisWilmshurst

Hello Chris, very good video, everything looks very organized and nice, I would like to ask you how the Logiteh headphones sound when listening to music, is the cable on the outside of these ugly?hi from Medellin Colombia
Hey! Thanks for tuning in, leaving a comment and being nice. The headphones are not the best when it comes to music, it does focus on bass a bit as it’s more of a gaming headset. You can tweak this in the Logitech software and set up custom profiles, but I rarely listen to music on my pc unless it’s through a video/speakers. The cable itself is just a plain old black cable with a microphone mute switch and a volume control. Very simple and easily stored (mine is tied up under my desk when not in use.
@@ChrisWilmshurst Thank you very much for responding, and I congratulate you on your setup, it is very sober or pleasant, mine is something simple but in the future I will make one similar to yours. Regarding the headphones, which do you recommend to listen to music and play games from time to time?
So I have a 5m display port and usb extension cable going from the PC to the desk. Theres a USB hub plugged into the extension cord which my keyboard/mousepad/ USB switch and headset are connected to. Then I have a single 3m thunderbolt 4 cable going from my Mac to the cal digit ts4 which also has the USB switch plugged into. So speakers will switch at the press of a button and for keyboard/mouse, the gaming mouse is always connected to the mousepad, the mx master 3s is always connected to Mac, and I flick a switch on my keyboard to go into wired mode for when using with my PC.
So I have the same countertop from Ikea and the Grovemade deskshelf. It bothers me as they're different colors. Did you do anything to yours or did you just get over it? Other than that, love the setup!
That’s not actually a charger. It’s a 3d printed stand just to store either mouse when I’m not using it. It’s designed around the mx, but the 502x fits into it. I use the power play mat to charge my 502x and a usb c cable for the mx

@@ChrisWilmshurst Good to know. Thanks! Also, I saw you mentioned a USB-switch. I gather that you are not relying on any KVM as such, but rather dual mouse, the USB-switch and then I guess you change input source on your monitor when you want to switch between the two systems?
No need for one, if power goes out it’s not the end of the world. I’m not a streamer so I don’t need a 100% backup power as I usually work on my Mac which is on battery half the time
@lysias55 haha, I can understand that. Luckily my pc is only on when I’m gaming! I’ve not had a single power cut in two years, so I’m hoping it stays that way

Calm down flower. Just because ‘back in your day’ people didn’t have an interest in it, doesn’t mean people don’t today. The mechanical keyboard market is more popular than your basic membrane keyboard and a lot of people want to know about the sound and typing experience, so I’m going to include them, rather than exclude them because of some grumpy person who can’t be bothered to hit the right arrow key on their keyboard a few times to skip the sound test.

Why exactly does he need such an efficient "work" station? Is he some type of engineer or computer programmer? I'm confused. People like this on RUclips who are so obsessed with their "work" stations and "studios" really bug me. They have all this wonderful tech and their "work" stations are setup super nice. It's a bog standard 5m USB extension cable. Found on amazon and a display port 1.4 5m cable. (slightly expensive for what it is).
Does you MX Master 3 not bug out when used on top of the Power Play pad? I have both and I, as well as many others, experience jumping cursor when using the MX on top of it. Or do you plug out the pad first when running with the MX?
I’ve only ever experienced a few jumping issues when my pc is turned on, but if it’s is off it’s smooth.
@@ChrisWilmshurst Good to know. Thanks! Also, I saw you mentioned a USB-switch. I gather that you are not relying on any KVM as such, but rather dual mouse, the USB-switch and then I guess you change input source on your monitor when you want to switch between the two systems?
How does this monitor compare to the 27gr95qe? I play only on console but would like a better setup
I personally wouldn’t recommend this monitor. It flickers like crazy!
Do you have a link for the headset?
Hey, I do yes, sorry for the late reply!
geni.us/nEdFTh I have generation one (wired), but they do offer a wireless version (gen 2)
@@ChrisWilmshurst thanks!
Doesn't the TS 4 dock lock you in 60hz even though your monitor is 144hz?
It does for my Mac yes, but for my pc I have a 5m display port cable running to the desk
You checked your A1 yet?
?
What microphone did you use to record this video?
I’m using a seinheisser xlr microphone
Why no UPS? Better insurance than the power strip
No need for one, if power goes out it’s not the end of the world. I’m not a streamer so I don’t need a 100% backup power as I usually work on my Mac which is on battery half the time
@@ChrisWilmshurst I just like being able to shut down properly. Suddenly losing power isn’t something I want to put my 4090 through
@lysias55 haha, I can understand that. Luckily my pc is only on when I’m gaming! I’ve not had a single power cut in two years, so I’m hoping it stays that way
does the monitor wobble when in standing position ? Some of these stand desks are dreadful
Only if you shake the desk, but when typing like normal and moving your mouse it’s pretty solid.
awesome, thanks for the reply and the video@@ChrisWilmshurst
How you connect the PC to your monitor ? its to far )
A 5 meter display port cable!
how do you switch between pc and mac ?? please help
I change the input on my monitor and flick the switch on my keyboard.
how does your apple watch do that? my watch congratulates me for standing for 6 hours when ive been sitting for 8 lol its so inaccurate
Are you wearing it on the opposite wrist that you set it up on? That’s how it messes up
@@ChrisWilmshurst nah it’s setup for a lefty properly
@EdwinFairchild haha, I haven’t a clue then. Maybe my resting hear rate is lower than yours 😅
@@ChrisWilmshurst lmao damn now thats worry some for me haha
Yeah I don’t understand the grove made stuff. $100+ for a tray and 300 for a riser shelf
Admittedly, it’s expensive stuff. But it’s all handmade in the USA and definitely not for everyone. I wouldn’t recommend the tray, but the riser is very good quality. Much better than a cheaper/alt brand version I currently use for my tv
@2:09 is that Tana?
I’m confused?
5:50 Oh please... That S**T doesn't matter to us when we use our keyboard way back then...
Literally fwd'd to the keyboard chapter to learn the model and make.
Find a lower gear pal, I dont want you spekaing for me. Keyboards matter "to us" hahahaha its the most interactive peripheral ! Haha silly goose.
How do you type on that keyboard? 😂
haha, what do you mean? its so nice to type on!
@@ChrisWilmshurst the blank top buttons 😅. It feels smooth tho.
@@hassanshahid9776OHH!!! haha. I can see what you mean. Luckily the letters are shown on the front face of the keys, so when you look down at it from a sitting/standing position you can see the letters you are typing on.
@@ChrisWilmshurst Yeah it's cool! Great setup Chris! 😄
au bhai bhalla?
Huh?
I will never understand the appeal on the clicking noise on the keyboard. for me the best keyboard is the silent one.
The appeal is not the sound, is the feel. You can customize the sound and the feel of the keyboard, you can even make a silent mechanical keyboard.

Check Ganrti for A a black lamp
Those are some expensive lights 😳
@@ChrisWilmshurst lol they are but they fit your aesthetic so I wanted to recommend them. You could easily find some like them
There is no way someone will be as lucky to get Herman Miller for 20 pounds.
Well I must be the luckiest guy in the world as I did. I also bought three other aeron classics for £50 each and flipped them for £300 each.
Look on marketplace for ‘office chair’ you’d be amazed at how many people are selling them and do not even know. Most of them are supplied by old jobs. This one was purchased from a retired guy
Was this an ia generated scripted?
Don’t be silly
£60,000? Arson here I come 😂
So, this guy keeps talking about his "work" station and about how he wants to make this area productive and efficient. So, what exactly does this dude do for work? Why exactly does he need such an efficient "work" station? Is he some type of engineer or computer programmer? I'm confused. People like this on RUclips who are so obsessed with their "work" stations and "studios" really bug me. They have all this wonderful tech and their "work" stations are setup super nice. I just don't understand what for. They constantly talk about being productive, but never actually are. Can anyone enlighten me?
I’m a professional photographer / videographer. Which I state in the video, pay attention next time.
Also, if it bugs you, don’t watch them and go on Pinterest next time.
Lmao 7.1 surround sound.
Haha yeah it’s not amazing, but it does seem to work somehow.
@@ChrisWilmshurst It's just marketing BS. 7.1 means 7 bed layer speakers and 1 subwoofer. It's just not possible in headphones, nor would it make a difference if it was. They go over both ears in stereo. It's 2.0.
5:55 i hate this sounds. mechanical keyboards are worst.
That’s completely fair, they’re not for everyone.
Your typing gives me anxiety
If that gives you anxiety, you should probably seek help. 😅😅😅
I fucking hate the sound of keyboards. why does everyone think their clickitty clackitty keyboards sound good? mute that shit
It’s personal preference. Don’t worry about what other people’s like. Let people enjoy things. You can enjoy your silent one
nice set up but the speaker is the worse one.
Thanks man, curious to know though, what is wrong with the speakers in your opinion?
£20 for a HM chair!? Mine was $800AUD second hand haha.
I got really lucky on Facebook marketplace. 😅
