Longtime Oilers/Texans fan but I believe every major sport should have a CHEAP SHOT RULE. It would go something like this: If a player injures another player as a result of an illegal or malicious play (cheap shot), then the offending player is out (WITHOUT PAY) until the injured player is medically cleared for play. In this case likely Al-Shair's season would be done. Another case: There was a hockey player who unknowingly skated up behind opposing player and put his hands on opposite ends of his stick, pressed the stick across the shoulder/neck area from behind and drove the opposing player into the ice from behind, BREAKING HIS NECK. Ended the career of the victim. Couldn't make any more money or play. The thug? He got to keep on playing hockey in spite of ruining someone else's life and career. If there was more teeth involved in this kind of stuff (only with cheap shot plays) then you would not see nearly as many of them. Like pushing someone who is clearly out of bounds (yes, you Al-Shair). If the player gets injured, guess what? You are out without pay for a while.
Azeez was clearly locked into the hit when the slide started. To me it looks like he was trying to deliver a punishing hit on the ball to force a fumble. Trevor slid at the last second and changed the targeted area from where the ball was to his upper chest falling to the ground.
Acting like this is about the single hit is absurd. If it was the hit alone it would be a fine. It’s dirty hit, after dirty hit, after dirty play all year long.
I will say, they absolutely need to penalize QB’s who make movements like they are going to slide or step out of bounds and then don’t. Should be a like 15 yards and loss of down. It’s that stuff that is what’s going to get QBs killed.
It wasn't just the hit - It was the third time Al-Shaair had confrontations *after* the foul deed. He punched Caleb Williams and then got into a fight with Roshon Johnson then Al-Shaair had a dust-up against the Titans THEN this. Al-Shaair has become the next Vontez Burfect. He's not learning the lesson.
Ironically the hit isn't even what caused the ejection it was the fight afterwards which he didn't start. Was it a late hit yes, but a dirty one no. Also TL should've slid earlier.
Azeez has a serious anger problem- he loses control at times as evidenced by his track record of violently aggressive acts, just look at the tape. He launched with his forearm to the QB's head. If he had attempted to pull off the hit it would have just been a penalty, but he didn't because he has issues.
The 3 game suspension wasnt for one hit, it was for repeated actions of negative behavior.
They need to become the Astros. Let this fuel their run. Azeez didnt do anything wrong. Thr NFL came after him hard! Lets back Azeez!
"Karen Runyan" 😆😆😂😂🤣

Woa, this will likely never be implemented but what an interesting take! It would immediately bring down dirty, cheap shots in professional sports.

Tua has a bit to do w/ it. Making Al Shair an example…league needs its QBs to sell brand

If QB’s wanna b treated w kid gloves stay behind the line of scrimmage or slide waaayyyy early not last second and not expect to get blown up

This guy choked Brady
Ok, but are QBs gonna think twice before running for that 1st down?… You bet they are.. lol..
That's like his third this season i believe... that's a problem y'all 🤦♂️
People that never played sports before saying dirty hit ???No it wasn't
Was it a late hit.... yes but dirty... not at all.
Super dirty can’t wait for CJ to get rocked like that and hear the Texans crying
Which professional team did you play for in order to validate your opinion.
