Thank you for bringing up Caleb Williams. I was watching that game and thought it was ridiculous that the quarterback tried to fake going to the sidelines and then almost got hurt and caused the player to almost get fined. When are the quarterbacks going to be held accountable?
🎯🎯💯 thank you! I'd tell my players to take no chances & to hit the QB every time. Either the QB's would learn not to mess around or the league would figure something out. It's ridiculous the way they hamstring the defense nowadays
Penalties are the problem, not the solution. Stop penalizing NFL defenders for tackling NFL ball carriers. It's absurd. Giving the quarterback all of this special privilege has made the sport much, much worse.
@rogerolsen19 my point is to get down before someone gets a chance to hit you with a forearm (which happens all the time btw). The slide is there to protect yourself, not just merely end the play.
I have an idea. Put a red LED light around the QBs helmet. Put a chip in wvery defensive players' helmet. Once the defensive player gets within 3 yards of the QB, the red light goes off, and the play is dead. Until you stop Maholmes, Allen etc. from faking slides and faking going out of bounds this won't stop.
Better idea: remove special protections from the QB position. If you sign up to play NFL football, you shouldn't be surprised when you get tackled while running with a football. That's what happens to football players.
He said what he needed to say as a coach- defend his team, voice concern for the health and safety of Trevor, and deflect blame onto the other team. Well said as a coach.
If we’re all about player safety why are they passing the ball 40-50 times a game?.. What do you think would happen to a RB who had 50 touches in one game?!.. lol.. This is what happens when you play like you’re down 10 points in the 4th quarter on your first drive of the game!.. Which literally every team does, every week.. Run the football, THATS WHAT YOU DO DAN!..

This isn't UFC, it's football and in no environment from HS football to pros are coaches telling their players to "hit someone as hard as you can every play", you miss way too many tackles trying to be a show off rather than doing what you need to make the play.
If you honestly believe that there are zero coaches at any level instructing their players to hit hard, you are dreaming. Hard hits are encouraged. They always have been, they always will be. I remember my HS coaches teaching us how to tackle properly, and emphasizing that we should "explode through contact". I remember them singling out opposing players and saying things like "he's always one big hit from a fumble". You can choose to believe in this make-believe version of football where nobody wants to inflict needless pain on their opponent if you want, but it's a fantasy. It is a full contact sport. Physical bullying and intimidation are not scandals, they are celebrated and effective tactics.
He says in his 'apology' that he's trying to hurt people and if they get up after the play well good for them. He had plenty of time to avoid Trevor. He wanted to hurt him. Enough with the hand wringing. The rule is fine as is. Azeez needs a big fine in addition to the suspension.
