24:06 the moment Christopher realises Tao Zhao is no reaper, but a mage.
26:22 the moment Christopher realises that the whole squad are no soldiers, but mages
7:35 when he realised that even 98% is not safe from Xcom logic
God should have saw the last mission with the 99
God That's Xcom baby!
Seems to indicate that the pathfinding algorithm is tied to the nav mesh/coordinate system, while the character object is a decoupled mesh renderer, meant for visuals only. The bug appears to be a "disconnect" between the two systems, one tracking visual position, the other tracking actual position.
his luck is good enough, miss a 99% is equal to get 12 70% hits in math
“I think that means Zhao has got to come with us on the Chosen mission”
Tao Zhao: Negative Trait Acquired - Fear of the Chosen
Odd, Zhao has holotargeting as well, so in theory after the first shot in banish, each next shot will have a better chance to hit the target. So, if you target a sectopod or gatekeeper, maybe even with ap rounds, they truelly do become banished. Pls upvote so Odd can see this.
Holotargetting doesnt actually affect the shooters accuracy at all, even with multi-hit abilities.
You can combo Banish with Superior Repeater + Superior Expanded Mag, and truly "Banish" any kind of target. Even Alien Queen and Chosen.
Farhan Ihram One of the most fun things to do also. Kinda makes up for the low damage normally from reapers. I find it hilarious to run up on a secopod and press delete.
ODD: If your going to take out Darkwood on the Hunter mission, take Willy instead of Sofia, because 1)Darkwood and Willy are bonded 2)Willy has Gremlin Heals, whereas Sofia does not!
Also Take Fain and Drake instead of Klaus. I know how much you want to bring Klaus on this mission, but if you want the best possible chance for your squad, then take 4 bonded people + Reaper and Mox.
There is no guarantee the Hunter will target Klaus when "Parry" is active.
Agreed. Also, give Rahjin shredder already:)
He did actually buy Medical Protocol for Sofia I believe it was last episode. So she finally has it.
Ah. In that case, he's good either way.

Log: Klaus Werner "Scorch"
Entry 36
Happy new year, Log! Not that I think you care, but we were able to insert on our tactical position over the cover of fireworks. The Doc and I are just trying to keep ourselves busy, so I might as well recount things.
I never thought that many Lost could be in the entire world… They counted sixty bodies in total. I can only say that we’re lucky we didn’t end up in a worse condition. Everybody will be in working order in no time. Final got promoted, and started practicing his Trigger Discipline. Or perhaps… a lack thereof. He was emptying his mag into every Lost he saw. I’m now officially scared of him.
I’m finally out of the Doctors, with a clean bill of health. But Final is in behind me, apparently some freaking out about the upcoming mission. Mox is finally back after we lost Radio contact, and he’s been given his rightful position. We threw a celebration, but I can’t say he looked particularly comfortable.
Final invited 4-20 and I to the mess. When we got there, all the lights were out. Candles led the way to a couple tables in the center of the room, one with Final, the other with Outrider. I can’t say how I knew, but I felt I was supposed to go to Final, and let the two of them have their moment. When I sat down, Final pulled a bottle with the Reaper insignia emblazoned on the front, and poured a couple shots. Normally, after that mixup with the wine from Little Light, I wouldn’t accept alcohol, But i got the feeling I didn’t have a choice. It tasted… indescribable. It was sweet, but burned like fire. It felt like it was numbing my entire mouth, but I could still taste, and the world almost tilted on it’s axis. By the time I recovered, Final had set down a couple plates of… something. It was purple, and had a hard shell. Perhaps… I shouldn’t think about it, but it’s taste was bliss. It was almost like the drink numbed every part of my mouth that wasn’t needed for this experience. When both of us finished, he handed me the bottle, and told me: “This, is venom. It’s a drink we Reapers made, and acts as a sort of Badge of Office for us. I can’t tell you how it’s made, but it uses a little bit of Chryssalid venom to give it that little extra kick. Careful with this stuff, cause this is the only bottle you’re ever going to probably get. Welcome to the Reapers.” I don’t remember the rest of the night, but I somehow ended up in my bunk. I might just have been the Hangover, but I don’t think 4-20 was in our barracks when I woke up.
I got called into a a Covert action, as well as a guaranteed promotion when I get back. Thanum is telling me we’re about an hour from prime-time so I’ll finish this up when I get a chance. Hope this gets back safe.

...Holy shit that is an awesome way to get into the Reapers...when you're ready that is.
Chris, falstro's got inplacable, that's what's happening to his AP :)
That is crazy that you can farm kills on Lost to regain more AP than you spend this way xD he could for example reload, kill Lost, give action to teammate, kill Lost, move to damaged teammate, kill Lost, heal, kill Lost and still have 2 actions and one round in the gun to dispatch some advent xD
TheBlobik that is probably a means of dealing with them when you don't have the headshot order. Still, maybe a little to much
This.
I think its only once per turn, not for every kill.
Ixal I will assume here that you say that because you saw it trigger only once...right? If that's the case I do think ( not sure tho) that it only triggered once because after the first implacable he gets back to 2 AP and after that he had "headshot: free action" which refunds all of your ap just like it normally would. Then if you actually move and shoot everytime, it'll will trigger as long as you only have 1 AP left when you shoot the Lost. I hope you understood what a meant, because it may be unclear since English isn't my first language. Sorry in advance for my possible mistakes
24:50 "I've never seen that happen."
That's XCOM, baby.
Edit: Freakin' loved your reaction to the combination of ExMag+Repeater+Banish on a Reaper. You might want to think about doubling back to pick up Blood Trail too - that's +1 damage per rifle shot on any target that's been wounded, which will let you take further advantage of Silent Killer and make Banish just _that_ much more effective in the event the repeater doesn't proc on any shots.
I love what they did with this game. My wishes for the future games of this franchise would be more use of vehicles and maybe weaponry on the landers and ships, so they can help with the fight or just bombard from far away.
Also having our own space ships and going to galactic adventures would make this franchise so epic and we'd never run out of interesting games!
Interesting, in my campaign Volunteer Army was continent bonus instead of a resistance order. I did get an order for a double agent, this allowed a random Advent to join me during missions.
I had both of these as resistance orders, and once they both triggered, so I started the mission with 8 troops
*GRRRRR*
*UUUUUUURHHH GRRRR*

Welp. Time to burn some more heretics.

GRRRR?!
The Lost - RUN!
Can't remember if Klaus got fortress, but if he does he is immune to explosives, parry makes him immune to the next attack and deflect and reflect means that at 3 focus he only have a 50 %/25 % (not completely sure if reflect and deflect are two separate rolls to ignore damage.) chance to take damage on ranged hits not including hit chance/cover. Give him a mind shield and he is basically immune to anything (including chosen daze effect) the enemy would throw at him.
The amplify and invert abilities should also help a lot in dealing with the chosen.
Implacable stacks with headshot, so you can move, shoot to kill, then get two actions back.
Yeah i'm surprised he didn't realise.
This episode proves that bladestorm rangers aren't the ultimate counter to the Lost. The Lost Brute dodged the sword attack and hit the ranger right in the face doing seven points of damage (one point absorbed by the armor).
Bladestorm Templar on the other hand...
Elders: I took a small loan of a million humans for the war.
And this is why you want a sharpshooter with face-off and "between the eyes" in missions like this.
face off would speed things up at least. Killing 1 lost at a time takes fucking forever when there's this many of them.
“It doesn’t matter what the percent is we’re just missing them”
Welcome to XCOM
Zhao heard you when you said that he had to go on to the chosen mission. (57:47 - 58:07)
YES! now Mox is an alien ruler
and rightfully so! Too bad for the aliens he's on the XCOM side.
They have enough when it comes to alien rulers and other things *cough* sectopods *cough*
I am not sure why he likes the sustaining sphere. So, far I don't think he has used it once, but it was used against him by a shadow warrior once. So far Advent has gotten more use out of it than he has.
Manual Override effects Justice, Wraith and Grappling Hook which involves the great strength of the Skirmisher, mobility. Battle Lord I hear is bugged, as in it may only effect upto two enemy actions... I'm not 100% sure and I'm hope I'm wrong, else then Waylay would be a much better superior choice, 2-3 guaranteed Overwatch shots is better along with more grappling hook attacks. That and tactical rigging allows for Mox to carry ammo types, 2x Bluescreen shots for example to just kill two codexes is powerful.
Also you got a lot of high ranked dudes now, you may want to check out the GTS for the upgrades for all your soldiers. You got the supplies after all.
Sadia jumped with joy as she was assigned to go into the field with Klaus Werner, he was always mysterious and way more sexy than the average XCOM grunt... too bad Sam Thanum was also there. "Hey Sam, when we get out there just leave me and Scorch alone for a while, okay?" she walked up and grabbed onto Klaus's arm. "Don't worry, Klaus, just protect me while I get the data needed to improve the armor designs, maybe after that we can... ummm... get something to eat... maybe a drink at the bar... or the skyranger has enough space we can..." she rambled off not realising no one was even paying attention.
battlelord is an amazing ability, I can't believe he called it 'safe' lol
"I want the Lost to fight the Advent." Immediately runs his guys in and kills Lost so the Advent don't have to.
Falstro is so op he gets three actions like a sectopod
Wait... Grenades can miss? O.o Cause it is not an "has to have clear sight" type of grenades... So... What? Am I watching Valkyria chronicle now so they can dodge explosives by lying down on them or what?
Sitrep: Notification Squad
Higher chance of "first" comments on video
first
Babymilk and now have a blueshell
You have an amazing ability to split your bonded pairs.
Since remote start doesn't reveal your party, could you bring just a reaper or two, and then hide snipers everywhere, then send the reapers to remote start everything to summon a stupid number of lost that would slaughter the advent before just head shotting them all out of existence afterwards?
It would be time consuming, but probably funny as hell.
BeginswithPIE
And then a chosen shows up and ruins that plan. I know because I tried. Barely got out.
Everytime Bradford talks, the only thing that goes through my minds is "No shit, Sherlock."
98% miss that's xcom baby
what about that 99% miss on the metro mission with the assassin, yikes
Audio Log: Dr Valus Ambrose
12/29/2035
The morning of today's was terrifying to be frank. To hear that five out of the six soldiers that went out on that supply raid came back injured. I was too busy to watch the direct feed from body cam...but, when I went to treat Major Zhao I noticed acid burns all over his coat, mask and skin. He expressed great fear over the coming mission against the Chosen...I know our doctors in the Psych Ward will allow him to recouperate again. It's a wonder these men and women come back alive, let alone on their last legs. The Commander, though sometimes frankly skittish, especially around Sectopods, must have an aura of luck about his words and commands.
I've heard tell of a party the soldiers are to have around New Year's. Dr Tygan got wind of it and made sure to mention to all science staff that, and I quote, "Science does not wait for the new year. We have to finish this Andromadon autopsy by next week!"
Klaus, though still in the infirmary has been showing signs of healing, and will be out of here by the new year. I wonder how he is able to train Prophet and heal like this at the same time..."Psionics" I suppose.
I've heard from Bradford that they re-established radio contact with Mox and the Covert-Ops crew. I do hope their all right...I do not doubt Mox getting a promotion after this.
I am quite tired...with all the injury and research that had been done...i haven't much had time for sleep...I just hope nothing else bad happens this week. Those Chosen are closing in on us again...makes it hard to sleep at night.
Well...with that I will try to get what I can only call...rest.
Dr Valus Ambrose: Audio Log 2-End.
*RAVELY WOUNDED*
Reminds me of Ravelord Nito
if he's ever wounded, it would be ravely.
that intro made me refresh the video twice. I got played!
The thing with Zhao happenned to me aswell, in the same map and another time in a retaliation with one of my rangers. It was rather... Odd.
And about banish: it becomes even stronger next promotion.
Implacable is giving you the extra action.
I don’t understand the logic of throwing down a lure to pull the lost towards the Aliens and then spending the rest of the turn trying to kill as many of those Lost as possible.
It’s like Dory is playing.
How does a Templar find shelter?
click "see more"for answer
He just rends an apartment
Clever girl
Looks like you still have issue grasping the LOST movement. They will hunt only xcom until there will be no viable targets for them to run to. If you use lure, enemy will become a target for spawned swarm to attack. Any other new spawned swarm or found pack will target xcom and ignore advent as usual. I found i nice tactics of blowing up the balcony to prevent lost from chasing you up. Also with such tactics you can run from ambush missions. Double dash to the ladder and blow up the balcony behind you.
PS Also after successful free attack for advent triggers, they target xcom if they have any in sight.
am i the only one that thinks he should bring a faceoff sniper with the headshot order and just go explosive happy on lost missions so in case he can use faceoff
the teleporting troopers glitch is something I've had happen a bunch of times since the update.
Six shots, with 15% chance each to execute, gives you roughly a 62% chance that execute will proc at least once.
@ChristopherOdd: This might be redundant information, but this is the seventh video that I see from you that kind of tells me that you are unaware of the possibility to interchange modded weapons that your soldiers hold. This way you can possibly bring all your soldiers with modded weapons to every mission. All you have to do is while preparing for the mission, go to their loadout and select "Make Weapons Available" (this will unequip the soldiers that are currently not on a mission, which you already know I think) and pick a modded weapon for that soldier. You do the same for every single soldier that you are sending on your current mission and you'll be guranteed to have all of them bring modded weapons. This can increase your success rate and decrease the number of deceased soldiers.
The upgrade to banish is even better
The reason Falstro had 2 actions after moving and killing a lost was implacable. It activated when you killed the lost.
Assuming I did my math right (which isn't likely, I'm just a kid with rather little knowledge on probability), a reaper with a superior repeater and a superior expanded mag with have a 62.2850484375% chance to kill any given target using banish assuming that the reaper's gun is fully loaded.
This isn't taking into account that you could also just kill the enemy with the shots, and it assumes that all shots have a 100% chance to hit. Still pretty insane tho.
Assuming 100% to hit, the math checks out. I have it at a 37.71% chance to miss all six 15% kills, which would mean 62.29% chance to hit at least one. The rounding is close.
Also tip: A super combo with Reapers is Banish+ExpandedMag+ Repeater, each shot has a chance to hit with repeater, so if you have a 15% chance to kill with six shots, your almost gaurenteed to murder.
Bladestorm is so good against the lost (and the chryssalids), one of my favorite skills. Especially in this type of mission. The ranger can just run around and mark the crates while the rest fights.
So angry that you didnt use the shredstorm when it was the perfect situation to use it, would have saved so much time
AWESOME 😊 😊. Love the series Odd keeping up
Of course, the moment you said Zhao was going on the stronghold mission, he had to develop a negative trait that needs to be removed first. What else did you expect?
Joking aside, have you ever considered using remote start on a claymore? With its expanded blast radius, it might change some of those "can't quite get everyone" groupings into ones that will get the entire pod.
Curtis Shaw it dosen't work. The claymore is actually clasified as a normal target and so must be detonated with a regular atacks. Only environemental hazards can be remote started.
Thanks. I'd wondered about it a few times, but don't remember ever seeing it. That probably just means I got distracted at the wrong moment.
Curtis Shaw np. To be honest one claymore is already enough. Now the the got 2 of them tho...
the reason that the assault trooper had an extra action is that when you killed a lost, you got refunded the action point AND received an additional one due to implacable
That lost must have been a certain Frenchman in the past (TF2 Joke)
Just completed the Assasin's Stronghold, lost nobody but 3 people shaken. First time encountering Andromadons, killed 6 of them total. And codexes, sooooo many codexes, pain in our buts, total killed 11.
Don’t know if you even still read comments on these videos, but FYI “5 by 5” is actually a military communications condition used to communicate the clarity of signal coming in. It is talking about relative signal strength. 5x5 means they are receiving base’s signal at full strength and communications are clear. It is basically like a stars rating. If a team is in the field, base might ask for a signal strength check to ensure they can clearly receive updated orders. If terrain or something interferes they might reply “2x5” or “3x5”, but if an aircraft like Firebrand reports anything other than 5x5, it indicates an equipment problem because terrain is irrelevant for aircraft. When she announces 5x5 when leaving the Avenger, she’s reporting that all systems are functioning normally for the mission. You may not care, but in case you wonder why she only ever says 5x5, if it was anything other than 5x5 leaving the Avenger, Firebrand would return immediately to address whatever technical issues that were impeding the coms signal.
it was inplacable combined with the lost action point that cauzed the 2 actions, it actually was a shot and a move, but thats the same as how ur turn starts
You can kill the berserka queen with that banish ability on you reapers
Joe Abernethy With AP rounds you can kill ANYTHING with Banish. Rulers, Chosen, take your pick.
I got the kill on the Berserker Queen and the Archon King both on the first pull by overwatching the rest of my squad then hitting Banish with a superior expanded mag on the vektor.
It's really op
after watching this video I then went into the final mission on my campaign and Dragunova one-shot one of the Avatars with it. So very OP, especially when you have the other skill that makes you keep going on other targets once your first one dies until your ammo runs out.
Joe Abernethy yeah and if you throw a superior expanded magazine, You are unstoppable.
I swear it's going to be a constant cycle of just "one more mission guys" and he will never kill the chosen
shredder storm on a spark unit with rain maker skill is the ultimate destruction.
Yes! I'm enjoying the spark buff very much on my playthrough.
Great job on this mission. There were a lot of bullshit hits on Advent's part at the beginning
Chris, I think it is better to wait with marking the crates, untill advent marked them, that way there is a higher chance that one of the crates will be in a safe area
Well... Mox's Major abilities seem a little under whelming. I feel like the best strategy for him is: Wrath to get into the enemy crowd, Retribution to have free attacks, Waylay and Reflex for extra actions with Battlelord and Judgement to panic enemies. What are other people's strategies for Skirmishers?
Collux13 well, skimrisher are beasts if played right. It's like having an alien ruler on your side. Right now Battlelord is bugged but by taking an action after every enemy action, you just mow down an entire pod before they have the chance to react. On top of that, their grapple allow them to have around 3 actions per turn, and will most of the time get to shoot 2 times, enough to kill any target with the help of a grenade.
It came out for Xbox today and it 43.42 gigabytes so now I just get to wait
Same with me and PS4. It's like 30 gigs on this system and I live in the boonies. Started downloading the day before, and it still is only about a third done.
started 3 hours ago, at 10% perhaps tomorrow after work I can join in the fun.
ahhh this makes me so nervous, i wanna tell you: @30:30 It's Implacable! :D nice video and series btw, i love it
Banish plus extended mag plus repeater is pretty much dead anything. I also have a resistance order that increases the effectiveness of weapon upgrades, so my superior repeater is a 20% chance of instant kill and the superior extended mag is +4 ammo, so you are firing 7 shots, which in unto itself pretty ridiculous; but each of those shots has a 1 in 5 for instant kill. And there is a colonel ability that makes banish move onto a new target after the first dies. haha Reapers go from really good scouts up to captain then the last 2 promotions turn them into killing machines.
Ahh, time to eat brunch and watch this video!
Hey, I've heard of this XCOM game! I also heard there's a really nice youtuber by the name ChristopherOdd who likes to play it. You should check it out!
It's counter-intuitive, but it's better to not tag the crates as soon as you see them. That way, when ADVENT tags crates, they might be easily accessible. Whereas, if you've tagged all those you could, the ones ADVENT tags will be off in the dangerous fog of war. They also don't start tagging until you engage/lose concealment, so put off engaging as long as you can, and try to engage the group near the most crates first, while they're isolated from other groups. I've actually managed to recover all the crates on one of these missions on 4-soldier Commander, with this strategy.
I won't spoil why but bluescreen rounds on the chosen mission will be a lifesaver
THe thing with his action 4-20's action points was Implacable.
Now you have to remember Zhao's name lol
Chris. the specters are not mechanical. Dr. Tygan said it on the autopsy.
Love the series man, makes my day everyday
Just came out on xbox1 today, cannot wait to play this.
That's a 90% chance to kill something outright with Banish.
30:00 When you made a kill, implacable kicked in and thats why his movement went to blue.
You should consider Tactical Rigging on Zhao, because then he can put ammo in the slot and run it with banish... Bluescreen, Talon, whatever, man...
Falstro was never be the same after the accident..
also.. he may have had infected Zhao with it
Everyone's saying faceoff, which yes would have been handy. But you know what else would have been darn handy for that crowd of them at around 30:00 ? Saturation Fire.
i reckon that the psi-zombies are the most dangerous, because you normally just kill the reanimator to kill all of the zombies, but if you don't have the one host to kill, you actually have to waste shots on the zombie
The moment u realized u attracted too much lost horde for fun that not even Sectopod can stop them.
Did everyone else hear Mr. Odd orgasm when he found out that Reapers can have two claymores? Or was that just me?
I've had the same problem in mission like this. Advent just ignores the zombies and beelines straight for our guys. Makes it really hard to weigh the decisions.
So many lost in play it slowed down the game and even glitched it out with the reaper.
This game is more intense than any horror game I've ever seen
Falstro was operating normally! that's just what implaccable does against the lost on first move fire.
Psi zombies is also bad, because unlike from reanimate, these psi zombies don't die when you kill a sectoid or a priest or a gatekeeper.
Last edit: A.P. is better than blue screen as AP is universal, you don't have to worry about if that shield barer is a machine or not.
The flamethrower is good on missions that have a lot of Lost (especially the missions where you *only* face the Lost), because it's a heavy weapon that doesn't make an explosion, and thus doesn't attract more Lost, and lighting Lost on fire makes them run away, while they continue to take DoT. You just don't take the flamethrower on missions where you aren't facing the Lost.
bladestorm + blademaster ranger (damage) + assassin katana (guaranteed hit) = no more fear of lost
I had that bug the other day as well (the odd pathing and having a soldier somewhere where i think they actually weren't), it seemed to happen to some chrysalids too, they where targetable but their actual model was outside the map restrictions by a really long way, I'd be interested if anyone has theories as to the cause, it is quite interesting.
Louis implacable which probably had to be kill which grants him extra action points
Banish is Hilarious, i took a Maj. Reaper with it against the Chosen Assassin. I think Dragunova did over fifty damage in one turn with it hehehe.
59:23 That idea does indeed work. Each shot will roll on the Repeater chance, so you get 6 shots at 15% each (20% with the right continent bonus/resistance order) works out to about 63% chance of the repeater working. Personally I don't like this, but that's because I hate the Repeater auto-kill. It is a silly addition that can just completely ruin an experience with a Chosen or Alien Ruler (or Avatar).
But since you like Repeaters I'd say its a worthwhile investment for you. Personally I prefer Laser Sights on Reaper weps, because with Soul Harvest and their rediculous mobility they can get amazing crit chances (after 4 soul harvests, with Laser Sights, Flanking, Talon Rounds, they can get 100% crit chances), but you do what works for you!
@christopherOdd cam we name my shotgun after me??? (The Crimson Prince) lol
A random suggestion:
Bring Darkwood, of Orange, and Mox
Have a superior auto loader and AP rounds or Talon rounds on Darkwood and see if she can solo the hunter
Edit : Do not remove the laser sight on Darkwood.
44:40 AP rounds work best on people with Shredder. That way you are shredding AND ignoring the armor. Think about it, who wants to target the enemies with tons of armor? People who can Shred, so giving them AP makes them even more efficient.
On everyone else I usually go Bluescreen because they are just amazing, except for Reapers (if they have Tactical Rigging) they LOVE talon rounds, you can get them to 80%+ crit easily.
Zhao and Darkwood are a must once you attack the stronghold
Bannish combined with a superior repeater. = Executioner
Flastro had more action points because of implacable... if you kill a lost with a ranger who has it it gives you the "Headshot: Free action" as well as the bonus move.
But i have no idea what happend to that reaper. He must have messed up space-time or something.
Also why would you complain about free actions?
Edit: You finally figured that out yourself :) And yes, implacable does indeed only trigger once per turn
Edit 2: Banish is so powerful with superior expanded mag and a superior repeater. Dragunova killed like 4 guys in one turn (a Gatekeeper and a Sectopod included. Best moment ever:)
so much bugs in this build......
oh and as for what happens with Falstro with the magically recovering AP, I'm gonna guess it's because of the Implacable thing which normally restores just a Sprint AP but because of Headshot gets weird.
Hell yeah XCOM
WIth Falstro's action points, I think it has to do with an interaction with headshot and implacable. Normally, you'd only get one action from implacable cause of a kill, but headshot makes your shot free.
I went to the warlock stronghold and when my soldier got mind controlled, I tried to see if a stun from mox's justice will disrupt that; it didn't work. What's worse the soldier got bugged in a stunned state. I got so mad. I could move her, but can't do any action. Once the warlock use that mind attack, it dazed her from the chain. I went to revive her and she's back to normal xD
