As a European, I love Dead Can Dance too. Sorry, to say that to you, but what you're hearing in the studio recording and not live. Pay attention all the instruments you're hearing and what you see. Besides, it's also obvious of the qualities of musical sounds, and of his voice, of course. Take care.
Fair point, but you’re mistaken. I agree it sounds like the album version, but if you listen to both simultaneously, you’ll notice the difference. So, no, it’s not mimicry.@@dominusstyx
@@pixelfrenzy No, they're not pretending to play, it's what we're hearing as audience, and that's the studio recording. All TV/Radio shows it's the same thing, even if there's live audience. Only concerts are really live, with all the paraphernalia and full orchestras. Of course there are exceptions, but are rare though. On that particular setting, for me, there's no way to be live, apart of the absence of the plethora of instruments we're hearing, even the "echo" of his voice and only, screaming Studio. Very few realize how rare it is for creating performers to sing with absolute mastery, 20-30 years later in their careers. Who knew Dead Can Dance would be their best in their 60s?
unquestionably one of the most iconic bands of the 80s and beyond. Brendan perry is a craftsman like no other. Lisa Gerrard equally an emotive force like no other . dead can dance you are simply wonderfull.
This is a song that fits perfectly into these end times which we are living in now... he who wants to dive into spirituality must pay heed to what is said here... a song of faith and hope...

First time I heard this was at night. I was driving up I95 in Philly. I had never heard of this band and I could not get over how much he sound like Jim Morrison "all the older children come out at night". Unbelievable!
Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry are brilliant, have been for 30 plus years and they have not lost it at all in fact the newest album is one of their best. Live just shows that Brendan's voice is stronger than ever. This tune is just beautiful. When I first bought this album this being the first song, just took me away, just as all their past work did, and does
Sounds like a pagan chant from out of this world beckoning us to the greater mysteries of life itself. Love the arrangement of the keys, rhythm, voice and the very solemn look they all have while performing. Its quite an experience!
Lisa's voice is what got my attention immediately when I first heard DCD many years ago but it ended up being Brennan's voice that I ended up liking the best. They're both incredibly gifted singers and musicians that have brought a lot of musical enjoyment to my life.
This song is we a warm cocon. I have seen Dead can Dance in Berlin at 1985 in the Loft Club on Nollendorfplatz in Schöneberg. It was amazing! 🤗🤗 Dead can Dance is forever in me!
thank you Sandra Louise Maxwell for petting my hair turning me onto this song tripping in a hotel room exactly one year ago tonight. Here's to Crescent City. I haven't been able to relax since but that night I was floating on a cloud. a child of the moon. you of the sun. I hope you are well. justin
If you watch carefully, at 6:13, it's the only time in this song that Brendan sings with his eyes fully opened. Delivering that line! One of a kind song...
I love revisiting this performance every couple of years. Such a fantastic and influential band - I'll be looking up an artist I'm just getting into, be it metal, rock, pop, electronic, film/videogame music and so often I'll see Dead Can Dance cited as an influence. They're one of those bands that perhaps aren't charting constantly but whose footprint can be seen or heard in a great many bands, and will be for centuries quite possibly.
I was blessed with discovering DCD in 1990 on an alternative radio program in Canada. I was stunned, mesmerized, and nothing can compare since. This music is sublime, Divine, otherworldly, and deeply magical . BTW...DCD has been explained by Brendan Himsrlf as the coming to life of musical instrument, the resonance, what was still and inert, touched by the human and the energy of Soul....comes to life....thus DCD....not goth by any means....old Souls music from another world. Thankyou for 30 plus years of nectar.
Damn... I remember when I first heard these guys... I was 19 ...I found a cassette tape in the laundry room trash while I was doing laundry. Took it to my dorm an pooped it into my then hi fidelity tape player... and it changed my life...
Okay. I did not think that it was possible for goosebumps to appear atop of goosebumps. What an exceptional performance. That voice and those accompanying musicians layering those lush sounds. Wow!

I remember when I saw them live the first time, after buying every album they had put out...and I was stunned by the power of their performance. You just don't realize how those drums shake the walls and how Brendan's voice is far more powerful in the live setting than it sounds in these recordings. And of course Lisa is a legend, and rightly so. When that voice takes off the angels come to earth to enjoy the show.

And his voice sounds like Frank Sinatra too
late Jim Morrison sounds like DCD
I love watching them perform live! Nothing like it. Brendan Perry’s voice is perfection.
he is really a pro. gives 110% in his performance
So true!
I saw DCD in Tokyo back in the 2014 it was one of the best performances I’ve even seen. His and Lisa’s voices are out of this world 🌎
Wonderfull!
PERFECTION for sure.

This is just our Carnival as they remind us, my friend
Brendan's voice heals my heart.
Brendan Perry is such an incredible song writer. Its sad that most people are caught up with 'Modern Pop' and wont experience his work.
Share it.
His voice is amazing too.
You don't actually know if that's true... I have heard your words saying this from so many... Its just learned behaviour.... We are ancient.... 🙏
Eu amo a energia das melodias do trabalho dele. Brasil. Fortaleza-Ce, em 4/ 5/2023.
Y qué? La música de DCD será inmortal
We are ancients
As ancient as the sun
We came from the ocean
Once our ancestral home
So that one day
We could all return
To our birthright
The great celestial dome
We are the children of the sun
Our journey's just begun
Sunflowers in our hair
We are the children of the sun
There is room for everyone
Sunflowers in our hair
Throughout the ages
Of iron, bronze, and stone
We marvelled at the night sky
And what may lie beyond
We burned offerings
To the elemental ones
Made sacrifices
For beauty, peace and love
We are the children of the sun
Our kingdom will come
Sunflowers in our hair
We are the children of the sun
Our carnival's begun
Our songs will fill the air
And you know it's time
To look for reasons why
Just reach up and touch the sky
To the heavens we'll ascend
We are the children of the sun
Our journey has begun
All the older children
Come out at night
Anaemic, soulless
Great hunger in their eyes
Unaware of the beauty
That sleeps tonight
And all the queen's horses
And all the king's men
Will never put these children back
Together again
Faith, hope, our charities
Greed, sloth, our enemies
We are the children of the sun
We are the children of the sun
Back in the days of standards and effort, this was once called poetry.
