I caught a 19” monster rainbow at Grindstone Lake yesterday using Pautzke Fire Bait! I used the techniques you showed in the video! Thanks for the tips guys!
Just got back from a vacation to Ruidoso/Grindstone. Thank you for posting the video. I'm from OK and have fished for bass all my life but never for trout. Would not have rigged properly if it weren't for this video. Me and my group caught more fish than anyone around us. The key is to have a long leader (4 - 5 feet) in order to get the bait up above the weeds (which are EVERYWHERE). Didn't see a single person not fishing this way catch anything. I also caught more than the others I was with because I could cast further out. They go deep when it's hot.
I’m here now and for the next 4 months, I’m gonna kayak fishing this lake..what bait, technique and line size do u recommend..also out on the lake are they deep or??
Great job, you guys are putting up trout videos like never before and catching tons of trout! I'm loving the multiple daily uploads. How have you been able to post so many videos lately?
I loved this lake as a kid. I recently went back after 20 years, very disappointing. They turned what used to be a cozy little fishing hole into a cash grab "destination." Elbow to elbow with walmart fishermen, people jumping off the cliff right next to people trying to fish, kayakers and paddle boarders running right over fishing lines, basically everything you don't want when you go fishing. The place was absolutely trashed! Bottles, cans, bags, there was even a pop up gazebo frame that had obviously been there for quite some time. A damn shame...

Well done, that's much larger than we caught!

The video answers all these questions.
Anything big in grindstone? Any bass?
Can confirm there are some small smallmouth. Saw many and none had any interest in artificial lures or trout bait. Not sure how you'd catch them.

We have been filming every day since Jan 15. And finally have a reliable editor!
that’s great, I wish I was able to fish that much. keep up the great work!
I remember going to grindstone lake when I lived in Ruidoso, miss going there after school.
nice , what is the best distance to cast when it's unknown water?
Is this bait sold at Walmart?
Every one in NM!
You should go fishing Luna lake Arizona
A buddy of mine just caught a 10 lb rainbow this weekend

Carrie,
Maybe try a different technique? We get photos from anglers who catch easy limits weekly.
