#4 El Dorado at Santa Fe is where I grew up. My father was the original developer for El Dorado in the early 70s. We were the first family to ever live at El Dorado. It's so unbelievable how much it has all changed and GROWN! We spent our play time, hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle and go cart riding. The hills were ours to explore! Oh the memories!
I lived in all 4 areas of Albuquerque for 8 years. And been to all the places mentioned in the video plus other places. Moved back home to Montana a few years ago but still go back to Albuquerque for visits and see friends that I met while living there.
Silver City is where Star Trek cast member Nichelle Nicholas lived and where she passed away at too. I had a late uncle who lived in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico but me and my family never went to visit him there. I have seen on other RUclips videos that the big cities in New Mexico are not bad to live in, but the small towns there are very poor and economically depressed there too as in not much in job and economic opportunities. I have even learned that some retired Hollywood stars have also retired to New Mexico, Dennis Hopper had a ranch in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico and is laid to rest at Jesus Nazareno Cemetery after he died in Venice, California in 2010 from prostate cancer. Dennis Hopper also owned a home near Venice Beach too, that was up for sale but I am not sure who bought it. I even know that Gene Hackman is living there now.
I can save you a lot of time by telling you that half of those places you named are in Albuquerque. You basically named off neighborhoods in Albuquerque. 🤷🏻♀️ So basically Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Cruces
These critiques on NM are based on criteria important to many folks in the U.S.- income, education, safety, established employment opportunities, amenities. Those may be priorities in some areas, but most people I know who've moved to to NM have done so to escape these living patterns.

Las Cruces is located near the Mexican border, Las Cruces is known for education (NMSU). Roswell gained fame due to the 1947 UFO incident. Farmington, situated in the northwestern part of the state, is known for its proximity to the four corners monument. Plenty of things to do like go on drives to Colorado, visit trails, go rafting down the river, and many festivals. I live and work here so I know the most about San Juan County. Everywhere in New Mexico is great. I love everything you can do outdoors.
Have you done it yet? If not, try Los Alamos. I nicknamed it "Pleasantville" a long time ago because it is. Super nice people with none of the cultural racism that is found in other parts of the state. Los Alamos is inhabited and managed by a preponderance of well educated people. No trash in the streets, snow removal is functional, the police are friendly and efficient, and the air is clean.

Edgewood and Albuquerque are in Bernallio County, not Santa Fe County. Sounded like an AI narrator and creator. This whole thing is bad misinformation.
I'm not familiar with some of the areas which you have mentioned but understand that many of them are near better known areas. The crime rate in Albequerque is high enough to be a concern unfortunately so try not to drive a car with any removable options like fog lamps or mirrors as I learned the hard way. That inner city is half the size of Austin's Travis County and a tempting alternative for someone looking for a less crowded more subdued lifestyle while living in a friendly city with a desirable climate. I'm surprised that Hot Springs/Truth or Consequences didn't make the list, as well as Carlsbad which are charming and friendly if a bit boring. They don't call New Mexico "land of enchantment" for nothing.
Edgewood New Mexico is in Santa Fe County, through annexations , its town boundaries now extend into Bernalillo and Torrance counties (Wikipedia source).
Living in Rio Rancho, working at Los Alamos. LA, that's Los Alamos, for the locals is a great town and community. It is hard to find a good home, but once your settled most folks I know trade up as their career grows. Rio Rancho has good schools, close to Albuquerque and shopping, we like it. As a pilot, NM is a Gem. One thing I wish NM had was more cloudy days or even 50% clouds. If your spending the day outside the sun can wear one out.
Have you been to Alamogordo ,I went there and had my tires stabbed in the Home Depot because I had a Licence Plate frame that said Beverly Hills Ford and some hard core creep was trying to start a fight with me inside the Home Depot . I also had someone call me from HD and wanted to know if I had received 7,000.00 worth of siding and wanted to charge my credit card It was visit to the twilight zone and I will never go back there again. I have no idea if the whole thing was a set up or extreme stupidity I think it was someone trying to steal from Home Depot (an employee because the police called me and asked what happened a couple of months latter). The police wanted to know if I had returned something for store credit and had I been given a store credit to use in the store? I don`t want to go to a town like that ever again .
I love Las Cruces. The Organ Mountains are absolutely beautiful in the evening sunset. Just across the Rio Grande is the little dusty Mexican village of Mesilla. This was the territorial capital of both New Mexico and Arizona when they were one territory. It is also where the court house is where Billy the Kid was sentenced to hang but escaped. One of the best Mexican food restaurants I've ever eaten at is there. The "La Posta" . In business since the 1800's and was a stage stop.
I lived in Roswell for five years when the Air Force Base was open and went back for High School in ‘63. I really thought it was a pretty nice town. It used to be very dusty and brown which has changed for the better in recent years. From the downtown traffic I would say it’s doing pretty well.
La Huerta is Carlsbad not a suburb, has the same zip code. Artesia is known as the City of Champions because of the winning records in their sports in high school football program. Also called T Town. They hold the record for the most High School football championships of any school in the nation, with 32 titles, since 1950, placing 3rd if you go back as far as 1920 (of course there was no Artesia sports back then).
I know Los Alamos well; pretty, clean, lovely park with a huge pond and fountain in downtown areas. There are no good stores for shopping and very few restaurants. There is nothing to do.
I need a place on 5+ acres where it doesn’t snow and winter temps don’t go below (or rarely) 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Privacy and solitude are of utmost importance….don’t want nosy or annoying neighbors, oppressive/dictatorial HOAs….
Southern New Mexico especially Las Cruces, la mesa, mesilla, santa Teresa are all warm with generally no snow. Only gets around freezing(~32F) at night in winter sometimes. Land can be pricey around there though
@@station8572that was a very narrow and inaccurate view of the 5th largest state in the union. Santa Fe and Taos are near Colorado and certainly don’t set the standard for all of New Mexico climate and feels..
I live in Orogrande. Maybe 35 residents here, now that's solitude and extremely inexpensive. 35 miles north of El Paso and 35 miles south of Alamogordo.
Have a lot of family living in New Mexico, I was born there. Loved hunting and fishing all over northern New Mexico. I lived in Espanolia. Really loved the shot of the Gorge Bridge between Taos and Tres Padres (TP). Drove over that bridge a lot. Mother grew up in TP and said the bridge to cross was down on the river so took a long time to go between Taos and TP back then.
Nice list but at least 10 of the placed mentioned are around Albuquerque, 3 are Santa Fe, 2 are Los Alamos and 2 are Las Cruces. So I guess we only have 7 places that are nice in NM.
You are correct Los Alamos is the number one place to live in New Mexico I moved from Santa Fe 12 years ago and I love it the schools are amazing people here are amazing and very welcoming city is very clean there is no crime and to be honest the few times we had crime was because people came from española santa fe or near by cities otherwise it’s the best and safest place to raise a family
“Sandia Heights is a very good choice for those who don’t mind wasting a lot of money for the sake of living in a good place that their children could grow up in.” Who wrote this???
My family is from Taos a lot has changed people from out of state keep moving there. You know causing everything to go up It's basically turning into a mini telluride
Lol- 1) North Valley and Los Ranchos are the same place - " a mere investment of $174,000 means you can by the lot for that price.... homes in that are average $800,00-$3 million plus.... 2) Paradise Hills is about 60 years old and the houses you showed are one small segment 3) Albuquerque is at 132 Homicides as of mid Sept 2022 and getting worse 4) Rio Rancho is safer but the property tax will kill most just getting by... they cater to Intel 5) Corrales is nice, but it's $250,000 and acre ( without a house ) 6) Santa Fe has no real middle class, liberal policies have made it so the majority of the people who work there, commute from Rio. Rancho or Albuquerque. And jobs .... jobs here pay crap for and have no real manufacturing jobs. Amazon distribution center pays $15 an hour and the Sheriff's Department responds there several times a day for employees stealing, fighting and even set one of the bathrooms on fire. If you believe in failed government that caters to criminals . New Mexico is your state. If you want to live somewhere you know your car will still be in the driveway when you wake up ... Stay out of tue Albuquerque metro area.
Robert doesn't know New Mexico. Since I live here in New Mexico I can point to those areas that have high crime and it definitely isn't most places listed. This video also left out some of sweeter places in the state like Ruidoso or Cloudcroft.
TAOS NEW MEXICO❤❤❤ FYI!!! TAOS DOES NOT CONSIST OF ONLY THE INDIAN RESERVATION. IT IS A HISPANIC SOUTHWEST LOOKING TOWN WITH ADOBE HOMES MODERN AND SOUTHWEST. YOU ONLY SHOWED THE TAOS PUEBLO!😮 ALOT OF DIVERSITY❤
Hands down best place I think!!!! No place like it and the housing is beautiful. The layers of the town are amazing and the culture is beautiful LOVE TAOS!!!!
I had to stop at the beginning when you have mentioned Silver City since you may have never been there and may not know about it being very high on crime rate (brake ins) as well of being very high on drug use and dealing with narcotics.
I have lived in SC for past 3 years and my brother has been here for nearly 20. No break-ins. His girlfriend/wife has been here longer and no break-ins. Where did you live and how much meth did you deal?
Sandia Heights and the North Valley are NOT suburbs. Both places are within the Albuquerque City Limits. Also, Eldorado, though beautiful, does NOT have sufficient water to support further growth.
Keep in mind that New Mexico is constantly at the very bottom of the list of states for quality of education. If you have children and want a good education I suggest making sure you are near and can afford one of the private schools. Even though I loved living in Los Alamos keep in mind that they are the best public school in the state, but that just means they are the best option of the really bad options the state has to offer. And they are rigid about their policies. I had one of my 3 children that did well but they are not transparent or qualified to work with children that have significant ADHD and they have no one on staff certified to work with child with Dyslexia or the other learning difficulties under that umbrella. The state claims to have a voucher program, however I know multiple families that had to sue Los Alamos public schools to be able to use that program and they all had to agree to NDA’s for the school system to help offset the cost of the only private school setup to education these different learners. And it’s 45 minutes away from Los Alamos. I love the town and I definitely have many positive experiences here in New Mexico, but education if education is important to you it’s not the state for you.
You evidently haven’t been to WV, Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas or a few other states…with the exception of some of the larger cities, these are truly 3rd world….
This is a profoundly uninformative and misleading video, compiled, it seems, entirely randomly. Do not base any decisions on a video designed for clicks rather than for information, education, or even entertainment. This is epitome of thoughtless content. Other than that I really liked it.
This video is basically useless. It should at least have a map, more information about each town some thing about the median, home price and the schools. This is like a travel log. Totally unhelpful to anybody that would want to move to NM

What about Roswell? Any comments about living there?
Please learn how to pronounce the words! They are usually words derived from Spanish.
Rio Rancho, Los Alamos, SantaFe, Placitas, Red River are my picks, White Rrock. Hospital and schools😊😊
Cost of living is off the charts
What the AI wrote this script?
La Huerta is Carlsbad not a suburb, has the same zip code. Artesia is known as the City of Champions because of the winning records in their sports in high school football program. Also called T Town. They hold the record for the most High School football championships of any school in the nation, with 32 titles, since 1950, placing 3rd if you go back as far as 1920 (of course there was no Artesia sports back then).
I can't see Los Alamos as #1. It's a beautiful place, but that's about it.
I know Los Alamos well; pretty, clean, lovely park with a huge pond and fountain in downtown areas. There are no good stores for shopping and very few restaurants. There is nothing to do.
Born and raised and before the fires it was solo beautiful. But it's going down in the canyons going up the mountains that's where the beauty is at.
I need a place on 5+ acres where it doesn’t snow and winter temps don’t go below (or rarely) 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Privacy and solitude are of utmost importance….don’t want nosy or annoying neighbors, oppressive/dictatorial HOAs….
@Station 857 I was stationed at Kirkland when as a young man, fell in love with NM. Can you touch on Las Cruces as a retirement destination?
Ugh, did you want water with that five acres?
The 20 best places to live in New Mexico are all located in other states.
So you will need more ammo then you think
Los Alamos is the town that everyone is jealous of if they are educators because many hard working serious people live there.
What city do you recommend in San Miguel county I have a voucher to move there
Stay the hell out of San Miguel county unless you want to sooner or later want to be involved in some kind of crime statistics 😬
“Sandia Heights is a very good choice for those who don’t mind wasting a lot of money for the sake of living in a good place that their children could grow up in.” Who wrote this???
My thoughts exactly... during the entire video. 😁😉
These autogenerated robo voiceover videos are hot garbage
Didn’t have time to listen to the robot read your dialogue. Also, far too many ken burns clips. Next time, try to get more video clips.
Don’t forget about little alcalde, New Mexico, northern New Mexico to be more specific
My family is from Taos a lot has changed people from out of state keep moving there. You know causing everything to go up It's basically turning into a mini telluride
("wild goose chase", not "wild goose hunt").
Your prices are way off, it's much more expensive now.
Lol-
1) North Valley and Los Ranchos are the same place - " a mere investment of $174,000 means you can by the lot for that price.... homes in that are average $800,00-$3 million plus....
2) Paradise Hills is about 60 years old and the houses you showed are one small segment
3) Albuquerque is at 132 Homicides as of mid Sept 2022 and getting worse
4) Rio Rancho is safer but the property tax will kill most just getting by... they cater to Intel
5) Corrales is nice, but it's $250,000 and acre ( without a house )
6) Santa Fe has no real middle class, liberal policies have made it so the majority of the people who work there, commute from Rio.
Stay out of tue Albuquerque metro area.
very good accesment!! i thnk they are just trying to find more taxe payers so they can bring in more homeless
@Station 857 are you an idiot ? Sounds like it…
Most of these places are rampant with crime as is most of the state due to lots and lots of poverty 😬
That's why Ruidoso and Cloudcroft are special.
Robert doesn't know New Mexico. Since I live here in New Mexico I can point to those areas that have high crime and it definitely isn't most places listed. This video also left out some of sweeter places in the state like Ruidoso or Cloudcroft.
Drugs are everywhere. The state is beautiful. I'm tired of people that don't live here having an negative opinion.
The cops in New Mexico just don't care
@Station 857 just new Mexico is just now outlaw on beastiality
I don't know man. LA numero uno. I don't think so. 5 other towns in video beat this pick...
Sssss. Don't tell everybody!
Hands down best place I think!!!! No place like it and the housing is beautiful. The layers of the town are amazing and the culture is beautiful LOVE TAOS!!!!
Please don't moved to Los Alamos and White Rock. It's full and prices for housing is terrible and more people will only make it worse.
Soon as I hear that automatic robot voice, I leave. Hire a narrator, a human being.
Dont forget our volcanos and tram
Wow, Santa Rosa was missed.....But this is just the spots for Tourists....
I had to stop at the beginning when you have mentioned Silver City since you may have never been there and may not know about it being very high on crime rate (brake ins) as well of being very high
on drug use and dealing with narcotics.
Thanks!
I have lived in SC for past 3 years and my brother has been here for nearly 20. No break-ins. His girlfriend/wife has been here longer and no break-ins. Where did you live and how much meth did you deal?
California Style Government in New Mexico has people leaving New Mexico.
Vote with your feet.
Sandia Heights and the North Valley are NOT suburbs. Both places are within the Albuquerque City Limits. Also, Eldorado, though beautiful, does NOT have sufficient water to support further growth.
This is fake, this dude does not live here.
It’s an AI voice so probably written by AI.
You mentioned Taos, and you didn't bring up skiing thats like talking about Vegas and not bring up gambling.
I agree about edgewood
No Ruidoso or Alamogordo 🙄🤦👎
If you're going to Santa Fe bring your own shopping bags cause them yuppies are saving the planet
Thanks
Get rid of the Governor
Get rid of the Republicans & Trumpets 🎺
@@rickoasisfan Liberalism is a mental illness
Albuquerque is known as the car theft capital of the US.
Yeah, some cars are difficult to steal while others don't appeal to thieves. Consider before moving to Albuquerque.
So; dont drive a fancy car that anyone else would want🤩🙃 comefort and dependability are what is most important
Me personally I like Tucumcari and
Santa fe.these places I have never
Heard of.
Curry? Are you an artist? I have family in Tucumcari. I’ve purchased art at the gallery although I don’t think it’s still open. Tucum is alright .
I’m surprised you found 2.
Just remember when you moved to New Mexico it's like a third world country
You evidently haven’t been to WV, Mississippi, Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas or a few other states…with the exception of some of the larger cities, these are truly 3rd world….
@Station 857 I was in Rio rancho
@Station 857 I'm glad I out of Mexico
@Station 857 and back in the United States
@Station 857 and remember Spanish to Spanish in New Mexico so Mexico New Mexico whatever it's the same thing
You make NM home ownership affordable which is far from the truth!
Use a real narrator.
can’t get to the point fast enough.
Whn in NM dnt ever say Rio Grande river!!! Its just the Rio Grandè (big river, not river big river!!
Terrible grammar.
hai gize, from India
I just watched the 10 worst towns in NM. Many... the same as your best.
This is a profoundly uninformative and misleading video, compiled, it seems, entirely randomly. Do not base any decisions on a video designed for clicks rather than for information, education, or even entertainment. This is epitome of thoughtless content. Other than that I really liked it.
The narrative is poor for the objective. The descriptions are cliche and repetitive.
Silver city collage and ARTs lefties.
This video is basically useless. It should at least have a map, more information about each town some thing about the median, home price and the schools. This is like a travel log. Totally unhelpful to anybody that would want to move to NM
Edgewood has nearly 10k residents, not 3700. The rest of the video is equally inaccurate and ludicrous. Artesia in the top 20?? JHFC!!!
Don't forget morarity
New Mexico has become a homeless drug infested arm pit of a state . I was born and raised . Glad I moved out 24 yrs ago .
So are we/ "the people who actually like it here😘"
So the title is “29 best places to live” yet the intro is about NM tourism? Lame 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
The best place to live in New Mexico is anyplace but New Mexico.
ANYPLACE!
I can't with the AI narration. I had to click away after about two minutes.
I was born in Alomogordo and lived in Aztec/ farmington...eee yyyyaaaaa nice land and history as for everything else... ya no.
Los Alamos!?! The most irradiated city in the US? No thank you!
