This awesome stretch will get right into your hamstrings while putting the love into your hip flexors and psoas muscles. The extra benefit of this stretch is that you are moving your leg out of the sagittal plane, which is where we tend to do most of our activities and movements. Moving your leg from side to side provides an opportunity for more diverse movement in your hip joints and surrounding muscles and tissues. Enjoy!

I just tried this and it seems to have relieved my lower back pain almost immediately. I've tried chiropractic care with no results. I just cant thank you enough for this video. 🧘‍♀️ Thank you SOOO MUCH.

Wow! That's great feedback. I hope your back stays feeling good or that this helps to give it a bit more ease.

    Hi Brea!
Would this be a good way to release a "pinching" feeling in front of the hip??
Thanks for sharing this yummy stretch!

Hey Brea would you recommend before or after a class.....it feels like it might work both ways.....I’d like to to try this dur8ng the beginning of class as I feel tight hamstrings ans Psoas prevent and restrict so many people in their practice? But also maybe too after a strong legs class? Thanks xx

Either way is great, depending on your intention for the movement. I often add it at the end of classes, but the beginning would work as well.

where can i buy that yoga strap?? is there something else i could use ?

You can use a belt or a long scarf if you have those things at home. Otherwise, if you have a yoga studio near you, they'll likely sell straps. You can sometimes find yoga straps at fitness stores as well.

This is great, I can't wait to try it! The bolster I have is bigger, 24×6×12, so I'm wondering if it's too big for this? I do have a soft foam roller that I can use to prop myself up, or I can get a bolster like yours? But I would like to try this immediately.

Hi Alisa, if you haven't already tried it out with your bolster at home, I would say it's worth a try. It doesn't really matter what size it is, as the aim is to lift the pelvis high enough that the extended leg can be a bit lower than the hips tp get the benefit. You can also use a yoga block or a bunch of firm pillows.
