I love how you decorate such awesome cakes with such thrifty techniques. The way you make names with various fonts with your trace method, so no need for expensive cutters. You use leaf cutters to make those tail fins, clever! I love it!!!
Thanks girl! You gotta improvise sometimes. I hated the cutters I had, they were so boring and I didn't want every cake to look the same. So that's how that technique was born! I'm glad it's helping you! 💜🙌
Beautiful!💜🧜♀️ I love the shells and the sand🐚 I had helped a friend years ago with a cake. it was for her son who loves baseball. we used crushed Graham crackers for the dirt. I have molds to make mini doll cakes. cut that small enough to make the pitcher's mound and baseballs. it was a fun cake to help her decorate. Another cake we did together was bikini cakes. we did one for each of our hubby's. Doing 2 heart cakes, cut the tips off and ends together the same mini doll molds cut down to make the chest. and then decorate the way ya want your bikini to look. we had fun giving those to our hubbys💜
Absolutely adorable. This is the cutest little mermaid 🧜♀️ cake I've ever seen. I love how after so many years baking not only does your imagination get broader you don't rely on expensive fancy equipment. In the first shot with the sea shells 🐚 I actually thought they were real!!! What a great tutorial. Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
Lorraine! Thank you so much! The shells are super easy and end up looking so real. I got those molds at Global Sugar Art like 15 years ago. So I couldn't find the exact ones, but there are so many available on Amazon and other places online!
Omg, so my granddaughter who will soon be 6 has told me she wants a Mermaid/Power Puff Girls cake! I’m like, how do I pull that off?? Well with help from all your videos, I’m sure I can handle it!! Thank you for this and for all your other videos! You are the best!
Aaaaamazing!!!! Do you have a wedding cake tutorial that shows how you measure.the cake and the monogram or flowers to make sure they are the right size?
I don't have that specific one. However, whenever I am making decorations, I will measure wherever I want to put them on the cake and make sure that I make them whatever size that is. I know that may not really help, but that's my process!
Excellent tutorial and beautiful cake! Thank you, karolyn. Could you please tell me how many inches were the round cakes, basically what size, and how many layers in each? Thank you ( i watched the whole video, read comments and description box before asking ☺️. Thank you again.
Stunningly beautiful! You mentioned in your video that you measure the cake and the size of the number to make sure it's the right size....how do you do that? Is there a special equation you follow and is there a certain measurement tool you use? I don't have a clue how to make sure things are the right size on cakes. Please help! :)
I just take a ruler to the cake and measure how tall each tier is, and how much space across the top tier as well. I print on Microsoft Word, and there are rulers on the sides that tell you how big you're printing the pictures / letters so I can make sure they are the right size! I kind of talk about it in the beginning of this video: ruclips.net/video/82mn2-pf6kc/видео.html

You can google the clipart images for your theme and get inspiration that way. (For example, if you are doing an elephant theme, you can google "elephant clipart".) Or you can look at other cakes that have been done with your theme and take inspiration from them. Don't copy them exactly, but maybe you like the topper on one, and the way the name is on another, and a certain decoration from another. Then you can put them together into one cake!
If you enjoy my tutorials, I'd be so grateful if you'd Buy Me A Coffee! ☕🙏

Oops I totally forgot to say that! The top is 5" (2 layer torted) and the bottom is 7" (3 layer). Feeds 30-35.

Wow!!! you are amazing!! Thanks so much for this video.
I always has this question, How long in advance can I make the fondant details?
I have made them up to a week in advance. I keep them in a ziplock bag so they don't dry out and won't break when I put them on the cake.

Not sure why that happened! I fixed it, the link works now. Sorry about that!
What colors did you use to get the blue fondant color?
The color of the mermaid scales / tail on the bottom tier? It's actually a little bit of teal.
Here's what I use:
