EXACTLY! a lot of other pop singers are good too but he's extremely talented and even if some haters don't like the sound of his voice, his lyrics are so thought through especially Afterglow, that song hits *DIFFERENT* he also writes/helps writes like a large amount of hits or songs in the pop music industry :)

You know how on all of the shows like the Voice and American Idol and so on, the coaches or judges always say that you need to look at your audience.... that's one of my favorite things about Ed, after all of these years of tours and mega hits, he still sings with his eyes closed.

You’re actually wrong, Ed actually made this song after the album was finished. In just about every interview he’s said he wanted to try to make a dance track, and that is what he did. It’s similar to when he made shape of you. He made shape of you after the album was done and made it a single to kind of show everyone what he is capable of doing/how versatile he is. Yeah, his record label has nothing to do with what songs he releases.

@@Nexodon I wouldn't say he started out as a pop singer, and part of his charm always was that you never had the feeling that he was interested in the money. It was a guy with a guitar, passion and stories from his life. Now it's tiktok, some sort of rave pop and massive promotion on all outputs, as if he's afraid people won't buy his stuff.
@@mattgee4867 That was part of his pop image. I think now he's only proud of his accomplishments, and as he said in an interview with an Italian singer, Bad Habits's goal was to make people talk of him, but the rest of the album will be very much like +, x and ÷.
@Matt Gee Ed has said in the past (and in basically every interview he's done since his return) that he always releases the song he thinks his fans will hate the most first. He also mentioned that he wanted to try making a dance song because he never has tried that before. Personally I love Bad Habits, but if you don't that's understandable and by Ed even expected. I wouldn't worry about him selling out though. I've been a die hard Ed fan for years and he seems to be just as humble and down to earth as he's ever been.

Agreed. The original sounds very generic to me. Like it could've been composed by any generic pop artist at all. Didn't feel the "Ed" in it.. I was here for the premiere on YT but didn't even finish the song. I love this version though. The first time I'm actually paying attention to the lyrics lol.
Before anyone decides to jump me, I'm not saying the original version is bad. Just that nothing about it stands out from generic songs they play in shopping malls and clothing stores.
