  • The new Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Shield EZ in the new 30 SC (30 Super Carry, also called 30SC). It offers a few more rounds of capacity than the 9mm or 380 ACP, has almost the power of the 9mm, and is about the same size as the 9mm and 380 ACP versions. Also, we just did a complete size comparison video using a Crossbreed holster. If you want to see that video, click the link below!

    I love 9mm but I came across this 30 super carry EZ pistol for $199 so I bought it mainly because… well why not 😆.

    I have an Ez 9 mm. Love the gun. My gun shop has a 30 SC EZ 30 and still has it. I persuaded my buddy to get the 9 mm version and now is his EDC over his Glock 19. Getting the gun with the Lazer is a no brainer !!

    What I can’t wait to see is the regular shield plus in 30sc. S&w’s website says 16+1 rounds in the extended magazine which is pretty crazy but I would want it in the 4” model.

      I love my Shield Plus 9mm PC (4"). It's definitely a little on the "snappy" side with recoil, but the barrel length did give me more confidence in my accuracy. Only have ~300 rounds through it, but it's a great little CCW pistol. Really interested to see how .30 SC shoots in comparison!

    32 acp is equivalent to 32 s&w long. 32 naa is equivalent to 32 h&r magnum. 30 super carry is equivalent to 327 federal magnum. I hope this round lasts. I like its paper ballistics.

    I would seriously like to have a S&W Shield EZ with a 32 NAA barrel. I know it would be difficult to feed, but I love 32 H&R Magnum ballistics.
    The 30 Super Carry has 327 Federal Magnum ballistics which should make it a very fun round.

    I love my Super Carry. I think I might have liked the thumb safety thats on the Plus, but the back strap safety looks like it will make it a good, efficient carry. Carrying loaded is always a concern but the backstrap safety seems to do the trick. My Super was on sale for $450 and I have had no trouble getting ammo. In fact, it seems that most gun stores have plenty of ammo but no 30SC pistols. I buy 30SC when ever I can. But have no problem finding it. This was a very good video on the 30SC and it answered a lot of my questions. Appreciate it....

    I think the .30 Super Carry could be a useful new cartridge. But the limited ammunition loadings so far limit it’s appeal. I checked all four manufacturers websites and found that Federal, Speer and CCI all show a velocity of 1150-1250 fps. Remington shows they will produce in the HTP and UMC lines but no load information, that I could find. The issue I see is they all are trying to make it compete with the 9mm. Other RUclips reviews I’ve seen said they didn’t notice any reduction in felt recoil compared to a 9mm. While felt recoil is entirely subjective, I think most shooters will feel that the 9mm will offer far more versatility and availability. The appeal in the .30 Super Carry will only be to those who value capacity over other factors. I think a better selling point would be for a slightly lower velocity load with less recoil but higher power than the .380. Even with the scorn heaped on the .380 by 9mm fans, .380 is still a popular choice among many buyers. A load with an increase in power but with still easily manageable recoil AND the increased capacity would make the .30 Super Carry more attractive to these buyers, IMHO. Thanks for your review.

      They should have made a 327 magnum auto instead of 30 sc ,
      Like Coonan made a 1911 in 357 magnum the same round has the revolver 🤔
      Have a Taurus 327 magnum and I would have definitely wanted a 16+1 semi auto
      Almost bought a coonan ( expensive back then late 80s) and they started remaking them and they are now triple in price today

    The average pressure of the .30 Super Carry cartridge is 52,000 psi, which could be a safety issue in pocket-size firearms that were designed for 21,500 psi (average .380 ACP pressure). However, any ammunition that is NOT used by military and law enforcement is good news for civilian markets, as long as civilians understand the importance of ammunition diversity. Meaning, good luck finding affordable 9mm if a major war breaks out. 30 Super Carry can survive if 52,000 psi does not injure too many shooters AND if made by manufacturers who only have production lines for civilian ammunition (e. g .30 SC, .223, 22LR, .357/.38) that will NOT re-purpose those production lines for military ammunition (e.g. 9mm, 5.56, etc).

    The grip safety makes re-holstering 100% safe if you put your thumb on the back of the slide or any way you dont engage the safety. So that the barrel looks like it has the outer dimensions of the 9mm you maybe can convert a 9mm Shield to a 30sc with that barrel and an additional mag.

    30 Super Carry was horrible marketing on the part of Federal. The cartridge should have been called 32 Super Auto (for marketing purposes) and it should have been loaded to energy levels just above 380ACP ~ 250 ft-lbs (similar to standard pressure 38 Special). A lot of people would have liked a new "old school" 32 pocket pistol with 38 Special power. Competing with 9mm Luger was a mistake, especially with the new high capacity compact models like the Hellcat/LCPMax/P365. Federal made the same mistake with "327 Federal" competing with 357 Magnum. Also, 30 Super won't be successful unless they design pistols around the cartridge; rather than simply converting existing 9mm Luger pistols.

    • @patientestant
      @patientestant 2 года назад

      At 50,000 psi, only locked breech guns.
      I agree, build specific to the ammo.
      I would also like to see conversion barrel and spring for 7.65 x 20 French long for .32 H&R ballistics for the frail or aged.
      The .30 SC seems as snappy as 9 para.

    If you compare 30 Super carry to 115gr 9mm, then 30 Super Carry actually has a little bit more energy. So, if you carry 115 gr for personal defense, you get more capacity and a touch more energy. I am willing to bet if they made a loading of 30 Super Carry slightly heavier than 100 gr, maybe say 115, perhaps 120, it might yield a tad more energy than 9mm 124 gr... Just sayin', ya know.

    • @criggthekid
      @criggthekid 2 года назад +1

      Or if they made an 85 grain bullets with extra powder. 1400fps with a muzzle energy of 430ft•lbs.. that would be nice. It would shoot flat and be devastating on impact

  • @GeographyCzar

    30 Super Carry is the 9mm of the 21st Century. If 9mm fanboys really cared about the power, they'd give up 2 more rounds and go with 40 S&W. 30 SC is closer in muzzle energy to 9mm than 9mm is to 40, and provides the same capacity advantage over 9mm as 9mm has over 40 S&W. Similarly, the recoil of 30 SC is substantially lighter than 9mm, which seems like complete voodoo to me since the muzzle energies are so comparable. In my opinion, S&W in cooperation with Federal has created THE ROUND for the modern subcompact pistol. 380 isn't even in the same ball-park. 9mm has many dedicated followers, but at the very least this round will kill off the 380 if it is properly supported by the arms makers. Right now the ammo is available at embarrassingly deep discounts as it appears to have been overproduced. I've seen it for as little as half the price of 9mm or 380 in the same major brands (Hornady Critical Defense, Federal HST, Remington HTP, Speer Gold Dot). As the the new round catches on, many of us will look back on these days and wish we'd stocked up even more. Alternatively, if it dies on the vine, we'll find it harder and harder to find, and then we'll really wish we'd stocked up when it was cheap and widely available!

    If the diameter of the 30sc is 0,213 inch? Then it is 7,92 not 7,65 like in .32acp or am I confusing something? Either way I hope it will grow, EZ should be a double stack with like 15 capacity. I wonder if it comes to Poland.
