Singles. I got a play set of MOST of the showcase cards for nearly $25. I didn’t get Gandalf the White, Saruman of many colors, Tom Bombadil or any other card over $2 per copy that I don’t see as being good as play sets.
Insanely helpful info for someone who has been out of the Magic scene for a while. I was really hoping to get a nice collection of these LotR cards, but these prices are crazy...
If you want to dabble a little for a few choice cards then buy the singles. That is still the cheapest way. But yes, if you want to buy product it is not a cheap one to go for. 😞
You would be surprised, the past couple have been much cheaper than normal. crimson vow are 200 a box, kaldheim is 180, dominaria 200, mh2 280. with the new sets only being ~100 for set and booster, it is much cheaper to get into it
Buy the common bubdle, the box artwork with the ring on the lava looks perfecr, then buy separated set boosters. Not point buying collector booster considering the ridiculous prices, if you really want them, just wait until the prices drop.
Same here, haven’t played in a decade as well and saw these LOTR cards at Walmart while getting groceries, like a grown up and I reverted to a child like state and grabbed a commander deck and boosters lol 😂 Also had no Idea what commander was until this video
I’ve been playing magic for about 6 months now and this is the first person that I’ve found that broke down all the different options to buy cards so easily to comprehend! Keep up the great work brother!
Being someone who is only interested in the fantastic Lord of the Rings arts included in this set this video gave me a better perspective of where to look. Thank you so much!
I haven’t bought a magic box in about 20 years. I am going to buy this. Thank you for this guide I now know what I all I am going to buy and I can stop looking for help as you have provided all I need!
Seriously this video is so helpful!!! I have never bought mtg before and I literally was trying to find someone I knew to figure out what the heck to buy! Thank you so much
Thank you! We would suggest waiting for a few weeks maybe a month or so before looking at single cards, prices will drop. There are plenty of good places to look (eBay, cardmarket, local stores) so go for it 😀
Big fan of LotR, I was sold on this instantly! I'll be getting the Starter Kit, a Commander deck, the bundle, and maybe a set box at least. I have not played MtG seriously since 2015 so it'll be nice to get back into it.
Obviously not someone who is a fan enough to have read the books or watched the films that more closely followed Tolkien’s creation though…. Not really a fan if you’re okay with them disrespectfing Tolkien’s work and the universe he toiled over creating.
I just got back into magic after about 6 years hiatus and I’m teaching my fiancée about the game. When she asked me about the different boosters I was so confused 😂 Thanks for explaining them!
Thanks for the clear breakdown of the various products. I have already pre-ordered all 4 Commander decks and plan on leaving them unchanged for when friends come over to play. I also hope to pick up a pre-release kit or two and a possibly bundle (mainly for the storage box). I can hardly wait for June 23!
Very interesting and helpful, thank you! Best info I have found that helps to explain this to me as someone looking to pick up MTG again, but not prepared to go in to all of it. So I like this themed stuff, plus being Lord of the Rings them, makes it quite interesting and somewhat contained. Really appreciate the explanation!
Great video, thank you! I haven't really bought cards in several years and was very confused there's different kinds of boosters now. Can't pretend I'm a big fan of WotC hiding their premium cards inside such expensive packs but I'm not gonna get the ONE ring anyways, so I'll just stick to draft boosters I guess.
If you just want to open cards and see what you get then draft is good. Set is a little better for value but you do get fewer for the money. Hope your experience is good on your return to the hobby 😊😊
lets be fair the 1 of 1 ring will never actually be put into a random pack that gets mailed to the public. it's going to someone with ties to wotc. They might make a whole thing of it by having them live stream it and have it be in one of their "sealed" boxes but it's not going to be possible for average joe to get it .
As a newcomer to MTG its all very confusing but this video helps alot!! Question. Is it feasible to say, buy a ring binder and aim to collect one of all 281 regular cards, disregarding alt cards, rarities etc (including the One Ring). And would bulk buying Draft booster be the way forward to this?
Thank you. And great question. I would suggest that you open set boosters (as many as you wish, a box probably) and then complete the set through singles from a local games store or online market place. Set boosters will enable a greater range of singles pulled, and if you don't pull every common/uncommon from the packs they will be pence online, whereas the rares and mythics could be £50+. I hope that answers your question? 😊
@@Mcleody9 MTG is not the simplest TCG out there, even the product ranges are confusing haha. If you get any further questions then chuck them out way :)
Great, comprehensive overview. Thanks. I am looking forward to this set. Overall, the type and variable packs, boxes available has really become confusing over the years, to a person that is coming back to MtG.
We haven't done a deep dive but basically you get the same cards with new artwork including some limited serialised cards. But you don't get the chance at the '1 of 1' ring (which has now been found anyway).
This was a great and clear video for starting players and general fans of mtg and lotr lovers interested in this, very well done! Im gonna get 3 collector bundles, open 2 because i am an absolute fiend for opening packs, and save one for a rainy day untouched.
gift bundle was best value for this set since it came with the ring and a collector pack at least for me i felt it was a good way to jump anf get a ring card which is valued at 30 bux felt dwarves were backseated when it came to commander
Thanks for the info, DoubleSleeved...I like your style...LOTR fan here, going big on this one...primarily because leaked artwork and narrative blurbs on cards appears true to books...and Tom Bombadil - God Bard!!! - Full geek mode. Learning to play MTG now.
Thank you! I don't think you will be alone in learning MTG off of the back of this set. As for great art and text, it seems to be a hit so far. Hopefully the more we learn the better it keeps getting 😊
True to the books huh? What about aragorn? Lmao hes one of the most important Iconic characters. This set should be legendary but they made it into an agenda pushing joke. Some things just shouldn't be changed. It's as bad as matt damon playing the last samurai lmao 😂shit doesnt even make sense based on the setting and context.
I have nothing to do with MtG but as a massive LotR Fan I will collect this for sure. Thanks for the Video and the explanation, great Job. As someone who wants to have some kind of a Main Masterset with some nice Foil/Special Cards I should aim for the Set Boosters as far as Ive understand everything the correct way ?! I wont ever play it like intended, only for collecting. Thanks in advance !
You got it. Set boosters will get you most of what you need. If foils are important then collector boosters have a lot more (whereas only one per Set booster) Otherwise it will be most cost effective to open a number of set boosters and then pick up the rest in singles. 😊
Hi, considering my idea is to buy one single pack, i don't play magic (maybe one day) but i like the idea of having some "good art work" card and i'm really passionate about lord of the rings, what pack i should go for? It is more worth one single draft booster, set booster or collection booster? Obviously only the option with an rng experience
Great question. The set booster will be great value and fun to open. The majority of cards will be common or uncommon and basic artwork. This may well be super exciting enough though as all cards are in some way linked to LOTR. Ultimately the best experience for 1 pack will be the collector pack. It has great art, interesting styles and the highest potential for amazing (and expensive if you are interested in that) cards. But that comes at a much higher price. All packs are gambles and can be a disappointment or an amazing reward. Your level of financial investment is what will determine how much you want to spend. Money no object, a collectors pack will always be the choice. Hopefully this made sense, opening any booster comes with a great thrill, no matter which one. I'm sure you will enjoy it either way 😊
@@DoubleSleeved i'm sure of that, thank you. I was thinking to buy one single collector but i noticed that on amazon the single one is out of order (i think?) theoretically when the expansion comes out they should make more available, right? and also according to what you say i should exclude the draft pack as an option right?
@@incogneditz It is a tricky one, collector packs and boxes will be tougher to get hold of. They are a limited print run with no reprint (due to the 1 of 1 ring) and so I would look outside of Amazon for the pack. Amazon aren't the best place for any TCG really due to re-packs etc. Draft packs are designed to use in a few different games (one of which is called 'draft') and so they aren't the best for just opening for fun. You can do, but set will be a bit better for only a little more money and collector will be significantly better. If someone gave me a draft pack I wouldn't throw it back at them though haha.
Much appreciated, im a HUGE LOTR fan and I’m just looking to get some LOTR cards but still be able to play, so I think I’m gonna get them commander decks, possibly some boosters later, or more likely just pick up singles down the line.
If you can wait it out, singles may be your best bet. However the values will be high on release and then some powerful cards will no doubt continue to climb in cost whilst most will drop. Commander decks will be a solid choice although unlikely to have the best characters in. A few boosters is always fun but can also be a gamble. It is a tough choice, ultimately it should be a good set so no money will be wasted 😊
I'm so excited for this set ever since the rumors came out last year! I haven't purchased any MTG products since the release of Kamigawa Neon Dynasty last year. In February, I pre-ordered the Draft, Set, Gift Bundle, and Collector's when the prices weren't as crazy.
*New to the hobby - recently subscribed* I've never played MTG before but have bit the bullet on this set..... I've landed myself a pre-purchase of the Gift bundle and am excited to receive it in July but wanted to know if I need to purchase the starter set to enjoy playing the game or will I be able to make a deck from all the cards I loot from boosters and use the 40 land cards that are supplied in the kit? I am more of a collector than a player but it would be nice to be able to play the game on occasion. Any help/advice is grately appreciated.
It is entirely possible to craft a deck from a certain number of cards, however the usability is likely to be very low. Considering the pre-built and easily 'pick up able' nature of the starter kit, I would grab one on the off chance you want to play. It's also useful in that it comes with a second deck to give you a level playing field. It's worth noting that these decks are a low power level, so no tournaments will be won with them. If you were looking to play more regularly then the commander decks (any of them) would be a worthwhile purchase and most will hold their value. If it's just a one off or very rare then the starter kit is great 😊👍 P.S. thank you for subscribing 😀
@@DoubleSleeved Great, thank you for the in depth explaination to my question. I think based on what you've said, I will wait for my Gift bundle to arrive and enjoy the unboxing to see what I get and also collect a starter kit, just because it's very well priced. Moving forward, a commander deck will be ideal. 👍
So if I’m strictly just collecting and not playing, do you mind putting in order of which product I should get. I know nothing of the card game but I’m a fan of LOTR
That was the intention of the video, sorry if I didn't make it clearer for you 😞 ultimately, of price were no object, collector packs will be the most amazing collection of cards for someone looking for rarer characters and beautiful art. However, if you want to collect the whole set of commons and uncommons and don't mind the fancy art then set boosters are most efficient. Once you've opened a few boxes I would then pick up the single cards on the 2nd hand market. If you want every card in the entire range then you will need to buy the commander decks also as they have special specific cards not found elsewhere. Sorry for the long explanation, but... Tldr: 1. Collector (if money is literally no object) 2. Set 3. Commander 😊😊
I tend to play EDH with 99 cards because I'm quite casual and play mostly precon EDH decks. Two of them are curled to the point of being extremely conspicuous in a deck, but one of those is the commander, so it can be used in a game still. I could replace the other card, but then if I win, I can't say that a precon won the game.
I've wanted to get into MTG for a while but with all the different sets out its which one do I get and where to start. I also however love lord of the rings. So I'm going to start here. My mate had a set in 1993 at school so this reminds me of good times.
Hi and thank you for the great video! I plan on buying the Starter to help my daughter get into Magic. She is a fan of LotR, but I have the following very important to me question - does the starter kit contain only cards from the set or is it mixed with others? I really hope it's only from the set.
Thank you. For your kind words. 😊 I think the starter deck is a great place to begin. Truth be told though, I don't believe it's been definitively confirmed if the cards are all from the set. If I'm honest it would surprise me if they only contain lotr cards, but most of them are common or uncommon so it's not out of the question. Sorry I can't be more help on this one 🫤
Prerelease Kit - if I can attend the Prerelease Event Gift Bundle - because my Collector Booster will have THE One Ring Food And Fellowship Commander precon deck - cue Atlantic Starr - ruclips.net/video/27X9f67mclQ/видео.html Secret Lair drops - will evaluate when announced
We aren't a finance channel so it's hard to say. I would say all of lotr is a great set with wide appeal. It's unlikely they reprint collectors so that could have value but once 'the one ring' is found the value will drop. Always keep boxes sealed etc. Otherwise it's up to you.
I’ve pre-ordered the gift bundle set, and in going to order a commander deck. My friends have ordered the Mordor one, but I’m deciding either Hobbits or Elves… I may order the starter kit as this will be my first magic set I’m collecting, as I’m a huge LOTR fan.
Im a Tolkien fan and have nothing with mtg or any tcg. But, i really want to collect these cards. Hopefully the complete set 😅 Does anyone now where to find the card list of all cards to collect or something? Another question: will this release be limited or something? Or can i buy the single booster time by time maybe? Thats more fun I think and cost less money all in once. But if i can buy the sets for a limited time than i have to handle otherwise i think.
The full set list will be released in a few weeks. I will do another video helping people out again. The release will probably be a one off but stock levels should be ok. I would suggest picking up packs initially and then probably getting single cards on the secondary market when you want them. 😊
This video was so clear and helpful. I’ve played a bit of Magic but don’t have a lot of friends to play with. I love LotR and love the artwork! So I was looking at maybe investing in the decks. Would opening the boosters and selling cards individually be a good idea or would holding onto a pack and keeping it be a better idea?
Thank you! We do our best. It should be a great set no matter what. In terms of what to do with your money, unfortunately we can't offer that kind of advice. It really can differ with every set and with so many external factors. Ultimately, if you like the products then pick up the ones you like and hold on to them for as long as you want. Opening to sell is a tricky market but do what makes you happy. 😊
I disagree with your assessment of Prerelease kits: a lot of game stores post-Covid still give out additional packs with the purchase of a kit depending on when you pick them up. My LGS gives 2 additional packs taped to each kit if you buy them the week they come out. I don’t think there are any products Wizards currently sell that beat the price per pack of $30 per 8 packs + stamped foil rare/mythic + custom dice from the set.
You aren't wrong, some LGSs will do this. And prices can vary depending on where you go. I'd suggest that for most people a set booster box will work out cheaper but always do your own research for sure. Thank you for bringing that up 😊
Great question. Wotc have said it's not a 'one and done' deal. There is likely to be a second printing, especially as we know there are more products now due in November. However there will unlikely be anymore collector booster boxes as the '1 of 1' the one ring can't be reprinted and so it somewhat undermines the value. Either way, if you like the look of it then grab some. Second printings tend to be smaller either way. 😊
At this moment in time it is unclear. We know the gift bundle definitely includes it but the normal bundle says '4 scene cards' so it may be an option or they may be keeping it as a special gift bundle only thing. I'm sure it'll get clarified soon 😀👍
I pre-ordered a collector booster box case (6 collector boxes). I have been working extra overtime days to justify the extravagant expense. I would LOVE to pull a serialized Sol ring. I may also get a set box, commander deck, and a gift bundle. I love the flavor of the art, lotr lore, and what has been shown so far. I just hope the gameplay and mechanics turn out to be fun too because if its too janky, it will be a beautiful shiny gold plated turd with no depth, longevity, or relevance.
Great question, does your nephew play at the moment? If he does and he plays commander then yes. That'll do it. If neither of you do then the starter kit is probably the best to learn the ropes and progress to commander once you've got the game mechanics. Commander can be casual and very fun but is often pretty complex. Ultimately if you just want some nice cards and to have a go then the starter kit would be my choice 😊
Thank you so much! I don't have any friends who play MTG but i'm desperate to get in to it. This is the exact kind of information i needed and you explained everything so clearly for a complete beginner. I have played a couple of games of the standard MTG and a game of Commander which out of the 2 was my favourite. I'm hoping to pick up a couple of the Commander decks (Food and fellowship / Hosts of Mordor) So hopefully i will be able to find someone happy to play with me lol. I'm a huuuge LOTR fan so have been eagerly awaiting this release! Thank you so much for breaking down the different sets available!
You are truly, unbelievably welcome. So pleased to be of help to you. This set will be a great one for MTG and LOTR fans alike. It's a great game so I'm sure you will enjoy it. Feel free to ask any questions you may have 😊😊
Great question, you aren't the first to ask. The information we have currently from wotc amazon is that the gift bundle specifies the mount Doom scene whereas the normal bundle says a scene of 4 cards and we know there will be other scenes. However the 'the one ring' availability picture shows that the mount Doom ring will be in 'all bundles' so it is a little ambiguous currently. 😕 Sorry I can't be of more help.
I don't believe we have had this detail yet, but my educated assumption would be that a few cards will be new artwork and most cards will come from the set, but I wouldn't expect all cards to be. Somewhat unhelpful answer I know but we will know the decklists before its release so hold on for that if you are unsure. 😊
What do you think will happen with the price of the collector box if no one opens the special ring after an year? I am getting a collector box and all precons.
I'm no financial expert, nor can we offer any advice about this. A well known MTG player calculated that the chance of pulling the one ring adds $0.30 to the value of each collector pack. So I guess that value would be increased as packs are opened.
Do we know what scene cards will come in the regular bundle? I thought they had the Mordor scene, but it sounds like that’s in the “Gift” edition bundle instead. Am I missing something?
It says on one document that you can get the one ring Mount doom version in all bundles. However on wotcs own Amazon listing for gift bundle is specified the Mount doom scene where as the standard bundle says 'a scene'. So jury is out currently. 😕 Sorry for the unhelpful answer. 😞
My dads a huge fan of Lord of the Rings and he’s planning on dropping 100’s of dollars on this new set and I’ll probably just get one of the new decks and a few packs depending on how much money I get due to me not have watching any of the movies.
I think a lot of lotr fans will be keen on this product. However it will be tougher to get then some normal MTG products. Preorder early and with a trusted retailer. Hopefully wotc will print enough 😊
Great question. Such a good question. Right now, we have no idea. All we know is that it'll have more rares. Once we know more we will release a new video 😊
I’m quite interested in getting back into MTG with this set, however I was also tempted when the MTG D&D sets came out. Look how much those sealed boxes have dropped in price by almost half. I’ll bet WotC/Hasbro will have massively over-produced this LotR set as it was planned/produced during the pandemic peak. Rather than pay $400 for a collector box, I’ll wait and see where the prices fall. The starter kit for $16 is plenty fine for now. And this is from someone who used to be a Top 20 player and has plenty of disposable income.
A great insight. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions. Ultimately the best way to purchase is to wait for the price you are happy with. We hope the set isn't crazy overprinted or it will just devalue the lotr IP but also don't think it'll be scarce. Hopefully you can get product you want at a price that's reasonable. It's got to be expected that some key cards will be worth a fair whack. 😊
I am LOTR nerd but never played MTG in my life, i was just looking at the products but thanks to your detailed explanation i ended up ordering the starter kit, the bundle gift edition and 2 set booster boxes, plus the sleeves that you recommend in another video 😅
So the only way to get the 01/01 ring card is in a collector pack? Seems like a bad way to go it diminishes the value of draft/set packs. Totally removes the Charlie chocolate factory vibe that anybody could potentially pull the card.
In some ways yes. However it is a 1/1 card that most likely will never be found or HOPEFULLY is pulled by a kid and playing without a sleeve. I think that most people that want set boosters will still buy them but may grab a lucky collector pack just in case. Either way, time will tell. :)
I’m brand new to MTG I love LOTR so much and want to buy to enjoy the artwork and collection so I’ve ordered the gift bundle. Should I buy the starter deck or the commander deck as 1 extra for reason I’ve mentioned
You could. Commander decks will hold more value and contain better cards (can't say they will be better for LOTR art but some will). The starter deck is an inexpensive way to attain a few different cards and is worth it if you want to grab a variety of products. Personally the gift bundle and a commander deck sounds great :)
I just got a couple gift bundles. Going Willy Wonka on it. If I win I win if I don't I still got cool cards. It would be smart for the person who finds the 1 of 1 to not say anything and hold on to it. The value on it would massively climb over time.
Sounds like a great plan! And yes, but £1m or $1m or however much it'll be worth immediately is very tempting. How long could you go knowing you have that money sat there?
@@DoubleSleeved no matter how long you take there's only one so someone will be willing to spend for it. You can take your sweet time waiting for the best offer.
There is a card info video out later, so I'll let that explain as there is a lot to take in! Just collecting cards would be set boosters and then buying the single cards to finish the set. But it will not be a cheap thing. There are also unique cards in the commander decks that you will need if you want EVERY card. But there are hundreds in total, depending on if you want all the different artwork variations 😊
I'll be excited to get a bundle (which I get with every set) and do to the prerelease & release draft. Based on the prices I'm seeing, I won't be buying any other sealed product just to open.
I have bought the commander food and fellowship and the pack which comes with the one ring, what's your opinion for a person that has just started in this game?
It will largely depend on how you want to play. If you have a good commander community around you and you enjoy a multiplayer casual format then your deck is spot on. Play, try it out and build from there. If you prefer hardcore competitive gaming then building standard or modern decks will be more your speed and singles will probably be the best route to getting into the game. All pathways into MTG are equal it is all down to your time/money/focus. Does that make sense? 😊
Unfortunately, the one of one: the one ring has now been found. It is worth $1m+. The one ring as a basic card has a $40-50 price on it at the moment, so still a good pull. 😊
What are the best products to build affordable sets in this universe? I'm new to MTG, I only have the 2022 starter kit and played a bit on Arena. I'm a big fan of LOTR and I plan to get at least the LOTR Starter Deck. However, I noticed that, just like my starter kit, it will not include all the colors. How can I get hold of blue cards (and more black cards) without breaking the bank? I am not interesting in collecting valuable items, I just want to add variety to my collection and be able to modify and make entirely new decks that are simply fun to play; I am also not interested in tournaments, I will mostly play with my SO or friends who don't have MTG. Is it worth it and does it work to get a LOTR commander deck, but not to play in the commander format, but to use the cards to make 60 card standard decks for casual play? How about Jumpstart boosters? Can I get some to mix and match in my standard decks? Does it work the other way around - to play the jumpstart 40 card format, but with cards from other types of formats (starter, commander)? LE: I checked again and the starter deck has White/Green and Red/Black. The question remains on how to get more cards with a specific colors. They have not announced Theme sets and from what I understood, theme sets in general don't have lands. Thank you!
What a brilliant comment. Your questions are exactly why we made this video. There is a lot to answer though, but I'll do my best. You have a number of ways to go about it. You can either purchase a few draft packs (the cheapest way to get some packs) to give you the black cards. This will work out fairly expensive overall if you want a decent amount of cards. You could purchase single cards online or in a local game store, many places will do 100 commons or similar packages for a fairly low price. You could 100% buy a commander deck or jumpstart packs and use the cards for casual play at home, and vice versa with jumpstart, the rules that MTG have made are for you to use or leave, if you want to make a 40 cards deck and play against a jumpstart 2-pack deck then do it. 😊 I do think jumpstart may be one of the best ways to play though, you can get a bunch of cards and have a fun and easy format to play. Sounds like what you were looking for. 👍 Whatever you choose, remember that having fun is all that matters, if you are doing that then all the other stuff is irrelevant. If you want more detail on any specific products then let us know. 😊
It largely depends on your budget and whether you want t enjoy cracking packs, but I would point out that some online sellers still offer things like complete C/U/R/M sets, bulk or 2-4 of each common and uncommon lots, and the land packs that appear in bundles as a separated out pack. Buying this way can be considerably cheaper if your actual goal is to obtain binder sets or play sets of cards. It also has the advantage of then only needing to buy the five JumpStart “exclusive” cards as singles, and letting you determine which cards in the Commander set you care about and whether to but the decks or just the singles. If you are trying to open packs on a budget with similar goals, it sounds like Set Boosters are for you, though whether you prefer Bundles or Set Boxes will depend on if you value the basic land packs in the bundles. Opening a box at a time until you hit a level of duplication you no longer care about and then switching to buying singles can split the difference between the true cheapest option and chasing packs. You will incidentally get some of the JumpStart rares and Commander original cards in these packs as well, but you will also wind up with foils, alt arts, cards from the List, and other things it sounds like you don’t care much about, which you could sell or trade for other singles. Buying the Commander Decks if you want decks to play Commander with makes sense, but if you just want the original cards in each one the value proposition is questionable, especially if you don’t care about truly “designed for Commander” cards that are multiplayer focused. Unless the card specifically references “your Commander” or “the Command zone” such cards are totally playable casually, but you may find some of their designs underwhelming and just want to buy some of these cards as singles while ignoring the rest. I can’t even recommend the JumpStart packs even if you want to play JumpStart with them, because the set-attached JumpStart sets of the past show us you can literally recreate the deck lists and experience more cheaply by getting the exclusive rares as singles, pulling lands from a land pack, and slapping a random rare of the right color in too. Unless something really changes about these compared to previous versions, like all the lands having a special treatment, they’re not an advisable buy. I hope this helps give you a better idea of what buying options are for you! You can’t go *wrong* cracking Draft packs for fun, especially if you don’t care about the variants, but you will start getting more commons than you know what to do with very quickly that way and still need lands and higher rarity cards as singles or lots if you go that route.
The collector boosters are sold for around 36 bucks each at the moment (preorder I assume). Are they actually going to be that expensive, or is the pricing pre release weird? I thought they would be closer to 15$.
The price for us here is rising. The supply is about 60% of what we ordered and there is no reprint (due to the '1 of 1' one ring) so I would grab some from a trusted source at a price you are happy with. There is always a chance things can go down but our predictions is that price only rises. (unless the one ring is found quickly)
Can anyone tell me what box is the best for a fan who just want to complete the set. Sorry I don’t speak good English to understand all of the infos that he give us.
I've found at least 3 non-LOTR cards in 3 Set Booster packs, so quality control is not perfect. Another frequent pairing is Gimli's Axe and Gimli's Fury in several set booster packs to date.
Interesting. We have seen sets of 4 commander decks that have 2 of the same deck and missing one. But hey, millions of printings there are bound to be errors.
What to buy if I want to collect a complete playset (meaning 4 of each card) for building decks and playing games indefinitely, (no interest in alt arts)? No one seems to be interested in collecting these sets like that.
Great question. Draft will get you card volume. This will aid in most of the players. But set may be the best overall. Finishing off with singles always.
Singles. I got a play set of MOST of the showcase cards for nearly $25.
I didn’t get Gandalf the White, Saruman of many colors, Tom Bombadil or any other card over $2 per copy that I don’t see as being good as play sets.
Perfect advice. Love it. This is how you collect ☺️☺️
Where did you get that? Trying to find something similar
You would be surprised, the past couple have been much cheaper than normal. crimson vow are 200 a box, kaldheim is 180, dominaria 200, mh2 280. with the new sets only being ~100 for set and booster, it is much cheaper to get into it
Prices would be fine if the art wasn't a huge yikes
@@spyrofrost9158
Are you talking about the blacks? You’re talking about the blacks huh?
Buy the common bubdle, the box artwork with the ring on the lava looks perfecr, then buy separated set boosters. Not point buying collector booster considering the ridiculous prices, if you really want them, just wait until the prices drop.
I haven't played MTG in a decade or so and I'm coming back to it just to collect this set. This video is EXACTLY what I needed! Great job man
Thank you for your kind words! 🥰 Welcome back to the hobby! 😁
Same here, haven’t played in a decade as well and saw these LOTR cards at Walmart while getting groceries, like a grown up and I reverted to a child like state and grabbed a commander deck and boosters lol 😂
Also had no Idea what commander was until this video
I’ve been playing magic for about 6 months now and this is the first person that I’ve found that broke down all the different options to buy cards so easily to comprehend! Keep up the great work brother!
Thank you. We really appreciate that feedback ☺️ hopefully everyone looking for this information can find it ☺️
Could not have stumbled upon a more thorough review of this set, as it will be my first to collect in over twenty years. Definite subscriber now!
Thank you so much. Glad to have you on board 😁😁
This will be my introduction to Magic. Ordered the starter kit and gift bundle....Cant wait!
Enjoy! And welcome to the hobby. 👍😊
Thank you for the video!!
I plan to learn how to play MTG with these... I will go for the starter + gift bundle
Awesome. Hopefully you will enjoy the game. It's very fun! Great product options too 😊👍
I got 2 presale box a couple of weeks after the set launch. I go 2 bow masters, 2 delighted halfling, 3 Nazgûl, witch king of agmar... Very happy
Woah! That's a hall! I'm not sure they've heard of 2nd bow masters pippin!
Being someone who is only interested in the fantastic Lord of the Rings arts included in this set this video gave me a better perspective of where to look.
Thank you so much!
Not a problem. Thank you for watching 😊
Thanks for the useful information and breaking down the bewildering options!
Not a problem 😁

Goated video man, I have no clue about mtg but am a huge lotr fan, I'll be getting the bundle and maybe some singles if I ever run into them.
That sounds like quite the shopping list! Great that you are getting some of it to enjoy both MTG and lotr. 😊

Fan of LOTR and you'd still want to buy this set...?
Same her 🙈
Obviously not someone who is a fan enough to have read the books or watched the films that more closely followed Tolkien’s creation though….
Not a problem. I hope it all goes well, teaching MTG is an art form! 😅
I havent played or bought mtg cards in almost 20 years..but as a fan of both mtg and lotr i had to buy a booster box and a premade elf deck.
Welcome back! A fantastic set to return to. Or to just pick up. Either way, enjoy yourself! 😁😁
@@DoubleSleeved thanks man, yeah im going to try and modify the elf deck with the booster box...see if i can understand new age mtg. And play again.
Me too dude. I'm new to MTG because of this set!
Very helpful, very nice energy/vibe.
Many thanks.
Thank you so much. We do our best 😀
Cool Video :) Is the food and fellowship also properly playable in Duell/ French Commander?
That's a specific question. I don't know to be honest. It's a playable deck for sure. Maybe someone else in the comments can help?!
Great video. Im joining the MTG community for LoTRs expansion so this is great.
Woohoo! Welcome! So pleased to have you on board. 😀😀😀
Sounds like you have it sorted! It should be a fun set and enjoyable release. Not long now either!
first of all i want to say, your beard is sick. second this video super informative been playing magic like 8 months and this intel is crucial. subed
Your beard based compliment is beyond appreciated! And your kind words about our content are incredibly generous thank you 🥰
Very interesting and helpful, thank you! Best info I have found that helps to explain this to me as someone looking to pick up MTG again, but not prepared to go in to all of it. So I like this themed stuff, plus being Lord of the Rings them, makes it quite interesting and somewhat contained. Really appreciate the explanation!
Not a problem what so every 😊 glad we can help and welcome back to the hobby! 😁
Excellent video, thank you!
Thank you 😊 much appreciated. Glad you found it useful!
Fantastic breakdown! Thank you!
You are so welcome ☺️
If it gets printed at all. A cynical view but one I could believe 😬
incredibly helpful, much appreciated :)
You are most welcome 😊
VERY, very helpful, thank you for this gem of a video! 🎉 ❤
You are so very welcome 😊😊
@@DoubleSleeved Thank you soo much, headache over haha.

You are most welcome. Hopefully whichever product you get will be great fun 😊👍
Hey, what are Collector Boosters - Special Edition and how they compare with the regular Collector Boosters? Thank you for the video!
We haven't done a deep dive but basically you get the same cards with new artwork including some limited serialised cards. But you don't get the chance at the '1 of 1' ring (which has now been found anyway).

so so helpful. Thank you for this. My brain hurt looking on the MTG website.
You are so truly unbelievably welcome. 🥰 Hope you get what you are looking for.
gift bundle was best value for this set since it came with the ring and a collector pack at least for me i felt it was a good way to jump anf get a ring card which is valued at 30 bux felt dwarves were backseated when it came to commander
When we recorded this the ring didn't even have a value 😅 but yes, gift bundles were incredible. Shame there weren't many of them.
My bad tom cruise** lol even worse really 💀
@@DoubleSleeved Thank you !
Will go for Set Booster Boxes and some loose Collerctor Booster Packs.

It's going to be a great set for sure! 😀😀

@@themachine7534 In many ways... Yes. In many others, maybe not. We'll have to wait and see!

I've never played MTG before but have bit the bullet on this set.....
If it's just a one off or very rare then the starter kit is great 😊👍
P.S. thank you for subscribing 😀
Tldr:
1. Collector (if money is literally no object)
2. Set
3. Commander
😊😊
I tend to play EDH with 99 cards because I'm quite casual and play mostly precon EDH decks. Two of them are curled to the point of being extremely conspicuous in a deck, but one of those is the commander, so it can be used in a game still. I could replace the other card, but then if I win, I can't say that a precon won the game.
,😅 if you have fun then that's what matters! ☺️
I've wanted to get into MTG for a while but with all the different sets out its which one do I get and where to start. I also however love lord of the rings. So I'm going to start here. My mate had a set in 1993 at school so this reminds me of good times.
That's great to hear. Welcome to the hobby. There is no wrong way to do it as long as you are enjoying yourself 😊👍
Very helpful! Thank you
You are most welcome ☺️☺️
Prerelease Kit - if I can attend the Prerelease Event
Gift Bundle - because my Collector Booster will have THE One Ring
Food And Fellowship Commander precon deck - cue Atlantic Starr - ruclips.net/video/27X9f67mclQ/видео.html
Secret Lair drops - will evaluate when announced
Sounds like a solid plan! 😊 Thank you for your thoughts
What would be the best choice in order to do some resale benefits ? Collector boosters?
We aren't a finance channel so it's hard to say. I would say all of lotr is a great set with wide appeal. It's unlikely they reprint collectors so that could have value but once 'the one ring' is found the value will drop. Always keep boxes sealed etc. Otherwise it's up to you.
I’ve pre-ordered the gift bundle set, and in going to order a commander deck. My friends have ordered the Mordor one, but I’m deciding either Hobbits or Elves… I may order the starter kit as this will be my first magic set I’m collecting, as I’m a huge LOTR fan.
Some great choices. I hope that your packs will be full of your favourite characters! 😀
@Chosen One then don’t buy the product. Nobody is forcing you to.
@Chosen One Ok. Fair enough.
You're a huge lotr fan yet you'd still buy this set with that yikes art?
Very helpful video, thank you.
You are most welcome 😊
Im a Tolkien fan and have nothing with mtg or any tcg. But, i really want to collect these cards. Hopefully the complete set 😅
Does anyone now where to find the card list of all cards to collect or something?
Another question: will this release be limited or something? Or can i buy the single booster time by time maybe? Thats more fun I think and cost less money all in once. But if i can buy the sets for a limited time than i have to handle otherwise i think.
The full set list will be released in a few weeks. I will do another video helping people out again. The release will probably be a one off but stock levels should be ok. I would suggest picking up packs initially and then probably getting single cards on the secondary market when you want them. 😊
@@DoubleSleeved thanks 🙏🏻
I'm still stacking boxes to open. Currently have 1 starter set, 3 tins, 3 collector boxes, all 4
Scene boxes and hoping to pick up a gift bundle soon.
Awesome. This set was and still is incredible
Thank you for bringing that up 😊
Great Breakdown! Thank You
You are unbelievably most welcome! 😁
you can get 4 mythics in a set pack, the rare could be mythic, the foil could be mythic, the showcase could be mythic and so could the list card
That is spot on. Not bad, although quite unlikely.
the most i ever got was 3 mythics and a rare, but it was a strixhaven pack, the lesson was a rare @@DoubleSleeved
Yeah, 3 still feels wild! Nice to know there are crazy mythic packs though!
Will the LOTR set be here to stay or is it a limited edition that will be unavailable for purchase in a few ? Sorry if it's a stupid question
@@DoubleSleeved Awesome, thanks alot for your help!
@@masquerade0133 No problem :)
The normal bundle has an oppurtunity for mt. Doom scene cards as well right? Or is that just a gift bundle thing?
That's about right. Good on you for going for it if you enjoy it. It's a nice set that has a wide appeal. Fingers crossed it's no turd!
I usually like to buy commander decks for sets I like. Maybe I’ll get a bundle too cuz I want to open a collectors booster
Make sure it's the gift bundle if you want the collector pack. 😊 I hope you enjoy!!
I'm gonna start playing with my nephew. Is a commander deck all I need? (Open question to everyone)
I’ve been away from magic for a bit because it’s expensive and I always lose. But I love lotr to damn much to miss out on this.
You aren't alone. This set will bring many new faces as well as a lot of returning players like yourself. Welcome back! 😊
Feel free to ask any questions you may have 😊😊
Not a fan if you like the destroyed lore with race changing.
You're entitled to your opinion 😊
Will the 4 cards with alternate artwork in the bundles (normal/gift) be the same just with different artwork? :c
Hey, John. I triple sleeve.
You are a mad individual. But I respect it.
Do you know if the starter deck set have all new LOTR art on every card, or will they include old regular MTG cards/art?
I don't believe we have had this detail yet, but my educated assumption would be that a few cards will be new artwork and most cards will come from the set, but I wouldn't expect all cards to be. Somewhat unhelpful answer I know but we will know the decklists before its release so hold on for that if you are unsure. 😊
I'm getting the commander decks and probably a draft box
Good choice. Draft boxes are a decent pick up, will you be drafting or just cracking packs for fun? 😊
@@DoubleSleeved packs and a chance at a cool box topper, set boxes don't have the box topper from what I read.
They should have a box topper. All sealed booster boxes should come with one. It's totally your call though 😊
I'm preording all of it my precious! haha
It is all too tempting though isn't it 😅😂
Do we know what scene cards will come in the regular bundle?
Gift budle has a great value. In my country 8x set boosters = 64€ and 1x collector boost pack = 45€ so in total of 109€ and the gift bundle costs 80€
Absolutely. If you can get hold of one on release then amazing! ☺️
You forgot the 1 Ring promo😉
What is the deal with the special edition collectors booster packs?
I spent the most I ever spent on Magic already on this set
Very easily done! It's expensive and everything looks good haha.
I am LOTR nerd but never played MTG in my life, i was just looking at the products but thanks to your detailed explanation i ended up ordering the starter kit, the bundle gift edition and 2 set booster boxes, plus the sleeves that you recommend in another video 😅
You are incredibly welcome. Pleased you found our advice useful! We do our best 😊 hopefully we won't let you down 😅 👍
Question: Is there anyway to guarantee you won't get duplicate decks when ordering the starter kit?
You will always get the 2 separate decks in the starter 😊
Thank you. Ordered
Great stuff. I hope it is great for you ☺️👍
I just got a couple gift bundles.
It would be a tricky one. I'd struggle not to cash in 😬😬
What is the best one if you just want to collect them? And how many cards are there
There is a card info video out later, so I'll let that explain as there is a lot to take in! Just collecting cards would be set boosters and then buying the single cards to finish the set. But it will not be a cheap thing. There are also unique cards in the commander decks that you will need if you want EVERY card. But there are hundreds in total, depending on if you want all the different artwork variations 😊
@@DoubleSleeved ok thank you 😊
I'll be excited to get a bundle (which I get with every set) and do to the prerelease & release draft.
Based on the prices I'm seeing, I won't be buying any other sealed product just to open.
Limited is one of our favourite ways to play. Both sealed and draft. Bundles are just a fab product. But you are right, prices are tough on this set 😕
@@DoubleSleeved Yes man, ty for answering me!
@@LuKe._. No problemo! I hope the new venture into this fine game is a good one. Let us know if we can help any more! :)
How much value is the one ring if I draw it in the collector booster
Unfortunately, the one of one: the one ring has now been found. It is worth $1m+. The one ring as a basic card has a $40-50 price on it at the moment, so still a good pull. 😊
Learnt a lot!
Excellent! 😊👍
I do think jumpstart may be one of the best ways to play though, you can get a bunch of cards and have a fun and easy format to play. Sounds like what you were looking for. 👍
Whatever you choose, remember that having fun is all that matters, if you are doing that then all the other stuff is irrelevant.
If you want more detail on any specific products then let us know. 😊
@@DoubleSleeved Thank you for the great answer!
What a lovely and very comprehensive reply. Thank you 😊👍
The collector boosters are sold for around 36 bucks each at the moment (preorder I assume).
Set booster boxes and then buy single cards separately. Hopefully that makes sense. :)
Great explanation. Sub added. :-)
🥰🥰 thank you. We will endeavour to keep you 😀😀
What to buy if I want to collect a complete playset (meaning 4 of each card) for building decks and playing games indefinitely, (no interest in alt arts)? No one seems to be interested in collecting these sets like that.
Great question. Draft will get you card volume. This will aid in most of the players. But set may be the best overall. Finishing off with singles always.
@@DoubleSleeved thanks very much for the fast and helpful answer!
No problem. I care a lot about the community and supporting our watchers. Hopefully you have fun and get the set sorted!
