Back then you'd see the same thing being done to superhero films, comic films, video game films, board game films, etc. In the midst of all the other "questionable" decisions when producing this film? Well, it looks like we would have a good film, if there weren't any problems behind the cameras. Johnny's death happened in the games at the time, though there it's suggested it was Motaro that did it, and was the result of the creators being pissed at the actor who played Johnny in the first two games. "Raiden is Eminem now!" - nice punchline 🤣 On the one hand, terrifying (in a bad way🙂) the film turned the filmmakers away from "dubious game adaptations for screen" for quite a long time. This is later, we will wait for 2002, the same director, but with a different game franchise (yes, Resident Evil 😉) On the other hand, this part has contributed to the development of both the film industry and the gaming industry... at least - how not to do😄 In particular, it became quite clear that it is not enough to just take and stuff a bunch of familiar characters into the film on the principle of "fans will understand it anyway." Alas, but to this day a similar principle is used in many film adaptations...
Fun fact, the original Johnny Cage actor re wrote a lot of his lines in the og film and he thought the screenwriters were terrible. When he saw the script for the second he was like “this is a joke” and refused to do it. So the screen writers killed off his character out of spite.
Brian Thompson played Shao Kahn. He gave an interview a while back and said that he was trained in Hapkido and had earned his black belt when he did this movie. This movie suffered mainly in the writing. Roles were recast in part due to the terrible script. If I recall correctly, Christopher Lambert said he refused to return as Rayden for that reason.
Raiden's Stunt Double is Ray Park, who played Darth Maul. The character Motaro is played by Deron McBee, who played Malibu in the 1st season of American Gladiators. This Sub Zero is played by the actor who played Reptile in Mortal Kombat. Michael Jai White was slated to play Jax in Mortal Kombat Annihilation but ended up playing Spawn instead
If you're going into the animated Mortal Kombats, make sure to check out the earliest stuff just to see how weird it was! "The Journey Begins", and the Defenders of the Realm series (it's short)!
Yo this movie was awesome I love this one and the first movie Liu Kang is my boy I was sad that Johnny cage had to die in the first beginning of this movie
At that time Game didn't have that much lore, so movie decides to insert lore from their ass like Raiden is brother of Shao Kahn and Son of a Elder God. Back when Johnny Cage wasn't consider to be that big of a character. And how tf Sonya (By herself) defeated Ermac, Jax (By himself) defeated Motaro and Kitana (By herself) defeated Sindel? Only logical battle and conclusion was between Shao Kahn and Liu Kang
This was a terrible sequel objectively, but subjectively if u turn off ur brain and let the cheesiness flow over u, u can still have a good time with it if u look at it thru the lense of it's so bad it's good lol
There’s a deleted scene with Quan Chi, the actor was from Thailand and didn’t speak any English. They could have dubbed him but to be deleted from this movie it must have been pretty bad.
Sonya and Liu Kang are the only really useful guys throughout this whole movie. Shao Kahn was not scary, he killed as many of his lieutenants as Sonya and Liu Kang did! Thanks, villain! This movie is just a hilarious tragedy. It’s so bad, that’s it’s good type shit. Lmao
So there are videos of the cutscenes from the Mortal Kombat games and they are like 3 hours long and the games continue from where the last one ended. Not sure when this started tho, wanna MK 8 or 9
Out of curiosity are you guys going to react to Mk Conquest, the tv show that came on between the two movies, it's got some camp to it but it's definitely a grade higher then Annihilation
What sucks is that the first one did well, but then some numpty/numpties decided to give this sequel less budget and very little time for the whole production.
it's Terrible no Doubt. i just love it out of nostalgia, i remember going to movies to see this Twice in Theaters as a kid, my cousin would pick me up after school and we would go see it, i Didn't care for all the flaws at the time because i was just such a big MK fan.
You guys made me look at the IMDB page for this movie, and I had to learn that one of the Tarkatans, not even specifically Baraka, was Ray Park Darth. Fucking. Maul! I need to go lie down...
Is that other dog's name Baaki? Was that a piece of cardboard? haha cute doggy. This movie is fun and ridiculous at the same time, it's not where near as good as the first movie but it's the same kind of fun like Street Fighter haha. A few things this movie does do well is the choreography and the music rocks! Nice reaction guys! And yes Ken is correct why Lambert, Wilson and Ashby didn't come back they all read the script and said screw this lol especially Lambert and Asbhy, they've said it in interviews lol.
The moment you realize that the only thing that can defeat Liu Kang is the Cameraman🤣

Me: "Earthrealm's never had it 😂."
27:57 that "soul" was actually Noob Saibot.
I loved this movie for what is. I loved all the action and more characters. Excellent video guys.
I would have like to have Michael Jai White to be in the movie to be honest.
There was an American Gladiator in this 😯😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 there's actually 2 of them the other is Lynn "Red" Williams who played Jax
Michael playing Jax in the MK web series was long overdue
Yay i was waiting for this my day is now complete flawless victory ken and Bethany 😈
Even when I was in elementary school I was like what piece of sh** lol
This and Batman & Robin are 2 perfect examples of "so bad it's good" movies.
My GOD I’m so glad they reacted one of my favorite movies
This movie was crazy. I really wish this film was better but damn that script needed to be better written.
This week sponsor for this video is party city LoL 😂🤣
Shao Khan's dad is Shinnok.
You both are funny as hell LoL 😂🤣
This was SSSOOO worth the wait
You guys should watch the 2021 reboot.
Also the Legends trilogy are awesome.
Scorpion's Revenge.
Battle of the Realms.
And Snow Blind.
And Cage Match, released just recently, possibly the most enjoyable of the bunch.
Lmao
I love your hat ken, very distinguished gentleman indeed 😌
So there are videos of the cutscenes from the Mortal Kombat games and they are like 3 hours long and the games continue from where the last one ended. Not sure when this started tho, wanna MK 8 or 9
Out of curiosity are you guys going to react to Mk Conquest, the tv show that came on between the two movies, it's got some camp to it but it's definitely a grade higher then Annihilation
They recasted Sonya, Johnny Cage and Raiden
Sonya is much better in this. Very badass. I love the fighting in this.
What sucks is that the first one did well, but then some numpty/numpties decided to give this sequel less budget and very little time for the whole production.
Yeah, definitely makes no sense for this larger Plot and cast set up.
it's Terrible no Doubt. i just love it out of nostalgia, i remember going to movies to see this Twice in Theaters as a kid, my cousin would pick me up after school and we would go see it, i Didn't care for all the flaws at the time because i was just such a big MK fan.
You guys made me look at the IMDB page for this movie, and I had to learn that one of the Tarkatans, not even specifically Baraka, was Ray Park
Darth. Fucking. Maul!
I need to go lie down...
I watched this movie every day for a month when it came out. I still have no idea why.
4:15 the speed at which that Okay came out, my man has a script for boobs and it's nonchalance.
Love this movie, all the sheep hate it gets is dumb. Both the original movies are good.
This movie was made in two months, with post-production and everything...
That is shinok shak n raiden dad
😎👍🙂
At 19:09 too answer your question Bethany the old dude in the black robe is supposed to be shinnok it's a bad adaptation of shinnok in my opinion 🤦
This was something alright,I like it and dislike at the same time, because its mortal Kombat. Phenomenal video as always you two.
Aah yes the movie that killed the live action movies
For Mortal Kombat? Or games in general?
@@SnipingIsFun for Mortal Kombat
That was Raidens dad shinock
Not gonna lie I was laughing with you 😂 the first movie was more enjoyable for me
