The Sony MDR-1000X headphones combine industry-leading noise cancelling technology with intuitive controls that allow you to tailor the sound to your environment. In the above video we show you how easy it is to get used to the gesture controls and quickly hear the sounds around you using the Quick Attention mode.

just got a pair today and am loving them so far. I am considering selling my other pairs for just this one now. good work sony.
Honestly, some of the coolest headphones I have ever seen, great sound, and very futuristic features.
If anyone's wonder these headphones are fantastic and works just as great as advertised. This is coming from a QC 35 user which doesn't even have a lot of these cool features!
do you feel like it lacks bass and is these worthy of my investment
uear7070 hi, i am doing a comparison in a couple Days. (no video). i used my brand new qc35 on this video and i got the mdr on their way. i am a bit of an audiophile so i will try to put them to the test vs my Denon AH MM400.
So far on the QC 35. Good base Good sound (for wireless) NC is Good.
top and lows of sound spectrum is missing though. pleasant sound but missing some details.
I cant wait for the mdr to arrive to try them out. :)
I really admire an audiophile like you, can differentiate top and lows sounds by just hearing it, any clue to train ur ears like that?

at least you has a campanion app which is working
Just picked these up for £229 on Amazon and can honestly say I am way impressed beyond what I expected from these headphones. I came from having the Bose QuietComfort 25 (wired version) with noise cancelling and although I enjoyed them, I wasn't overly impressed with the bass. I decided that wired headphones weren't for me as I travel a lot and I really value portability so I took the dive for some bluetooth head cans. These are not only of richer sound quality compared to the QC25 (haven't tried the QC35), the gesture controls are excellent. I've found them really responsive and I first thought they might just be a bit of a gimmick that I'd never use but I actually exclusively use them for controlling my audio!
In summary: sound is rich, design is gorgeous and elegant (i have the beige), gesture controls are really intuitive and simple, and the noise cancelling features are by far the most advanced on the market right now.
Verdict: If you're shopping for bluetooth headphones in this price bracket, definitely pick these up over the QC35.
Please let us disable Touch Controls. It's really annoying when you try to adjust the position of the headphones, but accidentally skip forward on a podcast.
how can this be disabled?
Yeah exactly, my friend has the wh1000xm2, and he said it is good except for touch controls not being able to turn off I am fine with my wf1000xm3s because you can disable it
Looking back at this after the reviews for the XM4 just came out.
We can just set what we can do with these actions like apple?
What's the difference between normal and voice ambient sound?
excellent headphones, I like it so much, the sound isolation doesn't feel bad
Are the gestures on hot sides or just one?
Hello, I bought this headphones and I am having a problem. I like to have walks under the rain and I use a hoodie not to wet them, but the hoodie keeps pressing the buttons and changing the songs, pausing them. Is there any way to turn off the control gestures?
in the app you can shut the settings off
Please let us adjust volume with swipes when using the headphone cable to connect to a PC or another device.
Can you use the touch controls while wearing gloves?
I just got me a pair of MDR-1000X:s and noticed that the play/stop feature is troublesome when listening to Spotify from my MacBook Pro. Otherwise it seems to work.
if i press the nc/ambient button it goes to ambient sound, what if i want to set it to ambient sound voice?
Hold down the button
But how do I turn off the touch control?! I'm using the headset with with a computer, these magic touch buttons are just an annoyance since it's virtually impossible to take off our headset or adjust them without accidentally activating them.
How to mute the mic during phone call? About to return this to the store if this cannot be done
How do u use the app
How to stop the beeping sound when making gestures, such as adjusting volume and stop and play?
untimelythoughts.com Sadly there is not a way. You could always manually use the app to adjust the volume which causes no beeping sounds.
Anybody know this song?
are the MDR-1000X still available to purchase I can't seem to get them online on the website
Can this headphone use for laptop?
How do you turn on bluetooth?
I love these headphones
Sound wise they're great, too bad that my touch controls never worked properly and its plastic is quite flimsy.
How to use Google Assistant by touch ? Or isn't this available??
Its available just touch and hold the middle right touchpad
Best headphones ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's there anyway to activate google assistant?
I used a single tap and hold to activate SIRI, not sure whether it work for google assistant or not.
Kenneth Chung it's the exact same as Siri for Google assist
Put a finger to the touch sensor when not playing anything :)
Sensitivity of volume rocker is very low. I have to swipe up atleast 5 times if i want a slight increase in volume.
Too annoying. Fix this if you are reading this.
nipun45 just swipe up and hold your finger there and vice versa for down. You don't need to swipe up 5 times.
Anyone having problems playing music with the Gesture in youtube? Playing etc work just not when passed then nothing works
The assistant is the only thing that makes me not like my headphones in the next update enable consumers to turn off touch controls. Its a huge hindrance on my personal enjoyment of your product
I love Sony
I bought an Experia XZ2 with the free headset deal. Was informed by Sony that my application for the headset was approved. After more than 2,5 month still no headset! Two weeks ago they promised to ship it to me. 2 weeks later still no headset. After enquiry I was told that Sony finally decided not to ship the "free" headset. No more Sony promotions for me!!! As for the headset, for a few bucks I bought a wireless headset almost the same quality at the local shop.
I wish there was a way to turn the gestures on/off, while I'm in the gym it's annoying as hell. Otherwise great headphones
I don't get the optimising noise cancelling
BIGCREEPER 412 Essentially it's takes information from the phone and the gyroscope inside in order to optimize noise cancelling to give you the best experience.
Best ❤️
As always, SONY never fails in innovation, +30 year of loyalty.
Dear Sony, Please make the next model have USB-C. I refuse to use Micro-USB.
pannekoek
I used to be the same, when micro usb broke a lot. they don't really break anymore, don't worry about it they are rated (generally) for 10,000 plug ins it might even be 100,000.
It has nothing to do with breakage. It's fitting the plug into the hole. Micro USB is often the wrong way up and fiddly to plug in. USB-C plugs in easily, every time.
lol then what did you do before? usb c and lightning are pretty new-ish, and before that all cables were not reversible. do you not use AC power plugs either? ^^
I've always found USB and especially Micro-USB to be specifically annoying. Ever since I got a smartphone with USB-C, there's no going back.
beautiful headphone😍😍 too bad i aint got £330 atm :/
i have 2 for sale 250£ never used ;)
Radu Barbu and you do have receits?... 🤔 😂😂😂
£250 on amazon right now
I got them for 189
Tommi receipts*
How do you use siri
SocAnxDis press and hold the right outer ear cup once and you will hear a beep after ask Siri what you want!
Very annoying when wearing a hud over headphones, a simple touch disable would have been great
The touch controls and buttons are so awful that it makes these headphones unusable.
i just dare you to delete this comment. connect app has 2,2 stars on ios market. the app is not usable. @customers: consider it before buying
I have
WH-1000XM4 .
Why don't you show how volume control really works?
1) Have you ever tried setting the volume up from let's say 50% to 100% on windows !!!!???? It takes 10 seconds of holding the finger or about 17 gestures!!!
2) Speak to chat- how can I deactivate this annoying functionality forever !!!!?
3) Also Cortana on windows starts randomly when I barely touch my headphones!
People, don't buy this crap, it's a waste of money. The gestures are just so annoying, I think the only purpose of these headphones is to ruin your days!!!
I arrived here because my volume control doesn't work. Swiping the volume up alternates between level 1 and mute on my iPhone. That is absolutely ridiculous for a 400 euro device.
OK found the problem. The "change with buttons" setting in iOS. I have it switched of so my phone buttons can control Spotify but not my ringer volume. That's a minor inconvenience, but I can live with that. It would be nice to have this as a warning in the manual, especially because the volume control itself appears to work but broken.
Thijs Koerselman.
I would love to buy a pair of headsets that had actual, clicky buttons and not this gesture control shit. :)
They are so cool but beats studio 2 sounds way better, I mean more loud and clear. Somebody knows how to make the Sony sounds a little better? I know Sony has a trick to do this but I can't found the video I see that.
hahah you audio peasant, beats are bloody awful and just have EQ ramped up to make it appear better to plebs.
Alberto Acosta hi Alberto, i was a beats user and i think the beats is to overhyped and the bass is to overwhelming . I tired the sony at a demo at a tech store and sound on the sony are much better. i cant wait to upgrade my beat to this neat masterpiece.
this are way much better then beats studio 2 :)
Bass on beats is just over-boosted and lack of balance. By the way, you shouldn't expect perfect audio output from any ANC headphones for now, that's not their selling point.
Touch controls on headphones is stupid
