Absolutely the best video on uninstalling a pop-up sink drain. You made it look easy but I could not unscrew and removel the the stem (4 min mark). Mine spins and I can't separate from the flange at the top!
That’s painful for sure. No easy fix- somehow you gotta get one of those not to spin. Maybe have someone else push down on the drain from top - inside the sink. Maybe wear those yellow rubberized gloves (typically used for cleaning with harsh chemicals.) Hopefully the downward pressure and the rubberized gloves both will work to stop it from turning easily. Then from under the sink, try and unscrew the long drain piece ( tail piece ) . Hopefully that will work???? Thx for watching!

i'm about to swap one out. a faucet change out turned into a full sink replacement. 50 year old cast iron sink was totally rotten. now I'm having to hope that i don't have to replace pipes under the sink. the old owners knew just enough to be dangerous but they knew even more than me.
Thanks for the video. I like the idea of an unobstructed drain from the sink to the p-trap. One thing I think is overlooked by people considering these push button stoppers is you have to reach into the sink water to open the stopper. I guess you could use a toothbrush handle or something.

Thanks for sharing this! The solid nut and rubber gasket here that you use are much more heavy duty than what comes with the drain that you linked in your description. Can you share some links on where to get those two things as well?
This video is great, helped me out a lot. Although I had to cut my old drain line out because it wouldn't come out. Other than that it went just as smooth as this. Thanks!
I have tightened the piece that holds the bottom rubber gasket in place right to the end of the thread with no more movement, but everything is still loose so I can move the plug side to side and up/down. This means the seal is not tight and water leaks. How do I remedy this?
Hey Greg, Seems like you may need an additional set of spacers under the rubber gasket ( another rubber gasket , o-rings, or a stack of washers ) - something to take up the slack. Hey the beard.., I checked the link on the ESFORT pop-up drain. It looks like the design has changed to the white / silicone looking gasket rather than black. That should be fine. Drain is useless w/o gasket seals. You should be good to go. Worse case - Amazon returns are simple. But you should be good to go. Hope that helps.
You left the strap of the lift rod dangling. I never liked this stopper system. The hole behind the spout for the lift rod is an opening where water can leak in. I removed the rod and would like to seal the hole. Any ideas how to? Thank you.
Hey 9825…, Hmmm. Not sure there is a way short of building your own plug - maybe thread the hole to accept a machine screw or something like that. Thx for watching!

Using the rubber gasket instead of plumbers putty, do you ever get a small amount of standing water around the edge of the stopper? A plumber told me he prefers the putty because the thickness of the rubber gasket can leave water pooled around it.
How important is the orientation of the overflow openings? Should they line up with the overflow hole in the sink? Do all overflow drains have two openings in the drain itself? What do you think the problem is if the sink leaks out of drain holes in front or back of sink (underside) when you push the drain in on a full basin of water and it drains out of the holes as well as the drain itself?
Not sure if this will answer your issues but here is where I'd start: - the down tube / drain tube needs to be one that is made for your sink Is it a sink with an overflow ( as opposed to a sink w/o an overflow. )? Those drain tubes are different. The drain tube needs to be seated in "plumbers putty" or silicon ( see the directions ). If those two things are correct, you shouldn't get leaks. Hope that helps.
I am 56 years old and trying to do this on my own with no plumber I've gotten all the other stuff to work just fine My sink is from I don't know when long time ago underneath the one that comes out from the trap mine is metal there's no washer or circular thing I don't know the names for all these things two unscrew It's a pipe metal pipe it was two pieces the other piece came off I can't get it to budge
No it's not the only place we have the tiniest of leaks is at the trap I think it's called the one that curves up and it's the one we tighten the white cap that goes into the straight plumbing pace into the wall right there we're getting the slightest bit still coming out so we're going to undo it and maybe it wasn't threaded completely straight I appreciate your help so much I'm not a plumber never done this before and I can understand what you're telling me to do. Thank you@@Housebarons

Kohler gave me the blues.

@@Housebaronsif that doesn't work I will be back next we are going to do the kitchen sink 😮
Damned Hippies and their long hair! Thanks for the vid!
Glad you liked it!
Where can you buy those push button stoppers?
Hey Edward,
Amazon or big box . Should be a link in the video description.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. The background music is truly aggravating. Not necessary. Sorry but I had to say it.
Thx for watching
Grateful for the fine video but I also found the music distracting.
I have watched a few videos where they recommend adding clear silicon around the sink gasket in the bowl and adding teflon tape to the threads up under the sink as drips from these pop up gaskets leak over time, How has it worked for you?
Hey Dangerma,
No leaks yet. I guess it’s a precaution, but these have large rubber gaskets - no water should get by.
Thx for watching!
