For those hating on Miranda using the “sick mom” card, it didn’t work and she got sent to the third round
That doesn't change anything at all, she still used it.
Didn’t change a thing. Its a cooking show not what her mom has show
Thea sees the manipulation in another contestant 😅 like looking in the mirror
She isn’t as bad as Thea lol. She complained wayyyy more
At the time I came across this video, only 1 comment and 2 replies to the comment were talking about Miranda. You could have just replied to them instead of doing indirects. 💀
Anyway, Miranda knew she was playing for sympathy points, just like Thea had her moments too. So I’m glad it didn’t work!
I know some people are gonna mention Miranda talking about her mom. And I just want to put out that this is a reality show. They need these moments for drama and viewers to get hooked. Now, Miranda may have mentioned her mom out of the blue. But keep in mind whenever any contestant mentions the struggle they are going through during these shows, it might be because the show crew is asking for them to do that to increase drama. Just saying, you don’t have to rip into her or anyone who plays the sympathy card. They may not even want to.
Thats the problem. We dont like drama in these type of shows. We're watching to see the competition and the cooking, not someone's rivalry or sad story.
Reality shows need to understand that. But oh well.

@@TheBlueCreeper- Totally agree!! Even Masterchef Canada who is admittedly not that dramatic of a show still has drama and sad stories that they talk about so much. Reality TV is certainly frustrating at times

When a hollandaise Sauce breaks you can literally add the tiniest amount of hot water and it will bring it back together when you’re a real cook and have been through all the mistakes that can happen you learn tricks to fix and mediate those mistakes

Thank you. Kinda unrelated tho, but I just find it ironic that they wanted them to make a perfect soft boiled egg but the example egg was overcooked

@@lachi3928erm the soft boiled the homecooks presented are fresh and served asap, the soft boiled judge michael made was prolly done hours or minutes before they've done the challenge so the remaining heat inside the egg had enough time to cook it(making it look overcooked)
idk man who would wanna wait like 4-6 minutes for a judge to make one soft boiled egg
still makes me mad how Amanda always used her mom to try to get away with stuff
Miranda, and honestly this challenge was like really the only time it got really mad. Most of the time she used to just complain that she had no prior experience with whatever they were making that day.

@@sarahwood2255 i honestly hated her for that before but after a year and rewatching these, i feel bad for her tho. she definitely has high levels of anxiety and there were a couple times during the season where i could tell she almost had a panic attack, like i used to think she was an annoying little brat but i can sympathise with her now. anxiety is really scary, especially being on a huge tv show. i still applaud her for being brave

Miranda bringing up her sick mom was so random and not needed at all
i used to think thea was a over-sensitive little brat, which she might be, but if not, i can sympathise with her
she always seemed so annoying crying over every challenge, but now i can tell she definitely has really bad anxiety. she looked like she was going to have a panic attack during a lot of challenges, but she still kept it together!
i applaud her for that
Perhaps you are correct and I will watch Thea episodes with this perspective to try to open up my own perspective. Personally I forward every time she talks/cries. I see her as using tears to manipulate. If her anxiety is this bad that she has to cry every almost every time, maybe she shouldn't put herself in this environment. It can't be healthy.
19:08 Happens in high stress situations. In the military, they teach you to do things like changing a magazine using your whole hand like a claw, because you lose a lot of manual dexterity. You can usually tell who's served at the range by the way they charge their weapon. Civilians will grab the handle between their index finger and thumb and pull back their forearm, whereas veterans will use their palm and pull back using their whole arm. It's also why a lot of military hardware is made with levers and handles which are larger than they really need to be to facilitate that loss of dexterity.
The effects high stress has on the body cannot be understated.
If your hollandaise is splitting, you should have cooked the eggs on lower heat, whisking more while adding butter and then up the heat.
I actually have a genuine question for anyone willing to answer, what actually did happen to Thea’s hands during the Scotch Egg challenge? Was it actually caused by stress?
It happens to me. It’s a combination of dehydration and anxiety and causes the muscles in your hands to tense. When it happens to me my fingers involuntarily get pulled in towards the center of my palm.

could have also been caused by body shock due to suddenly dropping her hands in the ice water. A friend I know still has stress attacks after one time going from a sauna and jumping into a cold water pool.
could also be a mild form of Raynauld's syndrome. Her hands looked a bit blue in the interview after.

Edit to add: My god, they ARE slightly blue. Either she has circulation issues like Raynaud’s disease (My dad has this in all fingers on both hands, minus thumbs), shocked her hands with the ice water, or just stress. It may have been years since, but I hope she had this checked out.
French omlet in 4 minutes is bonkers. I'd take at least 20 on a low heat.

The 4 minute omelette is complete nonsense. It takes that long at least to heat your pan lol.
I've made French omelets probably 20 times in just this past year and never once did they come out right lmao

What? If you have a half decent ceramic stove it will be piping hot in 1 minute, if its induction maybe 10 seconds
I got a Royal 6 burner commercial. I had a guy do something to get even more heat with blue flame. 10-15 sec to get hot pan, 200 degrees. 15-20 more sec and she'll start to smoke.
9:23 As a French, it made me giggle how he said "Baveeeeuuurse". It's "Baveuse" : une omelette baveuse, without the "r" and the s sounds like a z. Which actually means drooling.
I'm not mocking, I love Chef Michael : his elegance, the way he speaks. It's just that I love hearing foreigners speaking French.

I make eggs bene about 10x a day. Work at a cafe, and there is an art to it. If the waters not at a rolling boil, your eggs not going to make that perfecf formation, if the waters boiling too rapidly it'll tear your egg. Ngl the hollandaise in the example plate wasnt great. It should be able to coat the back of a spoon and not be transparent. That guarantees it wont be runny once you lay it on your egg.
As they cut in that "Juryegg" at the beginning of "scotch egg" ...i thought... if i´d ever serve an scotch egg that hard boiled to my mom..she´d kick me out 😂 but...may i say, that i love this show and also other masterchef shows so much, and even i ´ll never meet one of the chefs there ( or anywhere else on this planet) i´d wish to do so . Love it!

That would say more abt the judges then them also she could have actual anxiety and sometimes it rlly did look like she was on her way to a panic attack. Lastly she clearly redeemed herself in her 2nd season so idk why ppl still complain she didnt even win.

when you have 5 eggs to make 3 dishes the first egg to crack is the poached egg. you will have 4 chances to get it right, 3 of them doesn't matter if you break the yolk

as someone who eats and cooks scotch-eggs about once a month for most of my life...that example scotch-egg was a mess!! that is NOT what it should look like. So sorry, but I learned from a pro, my boyfriends Nana, and that yolk should be the consistency of a slightly over-cooked poached egg, almost like melted cheese. That's why it's considered to be so difficult...because you have to keep a viscous consistency in the yolk,

I'm really suprised that chefs copy paste this "vortex" method of making poached egg. Try it without it and it's gonna work great. The most important thing is adding vinegar. The rest is bs.

People saying Thea was playing for sympathy points are twelve or need therapy, she mentioned it quickly to the judges because something obviously went wrong. And yeah she cried she just had a panic attack so bad her hands were literally paralyzed that was probably at least mildly distressing.
No not really. She said her hands started freezing after she put them in the ice bath to take out her egg. If you're Canadian, this is pretty par for the course. If you've ever made snowballs with your bare hands, your hands get cold and start freezing up. Just warm them up by tucking them under your arms, or running them under warm water and the problem will be solved. It was just an excuse.
