Thank you for a very good video. Do you know if its the same work on a vl 1500 ?

I have a 99 Suzuki vs 1400 glp.starts an runs great , just wont move. Had it 2 yrs now and still cant ride it. Been riding an wrenching autos an bikes 30+ yrs.only bike I cant figure out. replaced .hydr. line , clutch master an slave cyl. clutch and basket . bled MANY times. Still jumps an stalls out when put in gear.Even in neutral , bike wants to creep. Clutch will not fully dis-engage.If you manage to keep it running in gear ,the brakes are needed to keep it from moving even with an applied clutch ! Only thing left to replace is the push rod. If that does not fix it ,sadly I will never own another Intruder , no matter how cool the bike is. any suggestions ??
I left a reply but it seems not to have loaded. Check the separator discs and the dished plate are assembled high side inward and flat side out! Check there is no old disc in the basket that you are accidentally replicating with a new one. My comments come from instructions within this guy's videos and the Suzuki owners manual. According to this those are correct solutions to double check. One backwards will expand the clutch pack. More than one is worse.
Hello! I followed your tutorial but the problem that happened to me is that when I'm idling, I can't pass changes, the box is like hard or stuck, they are passing but stopped the changes do not enter. I put all the separator discs looking at the same side, I applied the torque it requires. I made sure that the screws are not changed sides and that problem persists :/ I have new discs, separators and springs
I'm sure this is the first time I found this video and a few hours after I assembled my entire clutch incorrectly. Dang it. On to the second run on the clutch job. I just wish I could charge myself hourly.
Which way does the spacer go on the long springs? Mine has a lip on one side, or a raised area on one end, does it go inboard or outboard. I figure it acts as a washer spreading out the torque, I didn't see it till reassembly and wasn't sure which way it went. I figures it goes inboard to spread out the force on the aluminum surface of the clutch, am I right?
Thank you for answering so quickly I'm thinking of buying a 97 Suzuki Intruder 800 for $1,100 looks to be in very good shape the owner says if it clutch stopped engaging that's why he's selling it so cheap it doesn't look like it's too bad to repair I don't know though
Hello bro, what do I need to do, I replaced the clutch discs, but now the clutch lever is quite hard, it cannot be crushed, what does that mean? my motorcycle is a boulevard s83 1400 model 2005, I don't know how different it is from the intruder... maybe you can help me with that, men. I do not omit to mention, that I already purge the system, making sure that it is as it should be, but even so this error persists
Would you recommend changing the seperator plates or can I just use the old ones?
3 года назад
You can use the old ones providing they have not got burn marks on them from the heat of the engine. Typically purple and blue is a tell tale sign that you need to replace them aswell.
Hi Hagar. Do you happen to know of any websites that still sell the Intruder backrest extensions? All my research only found 1 used one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi. good video. I have a problem with my vz 800. the clutch basket does not rotate freely in the large toothed wheel. all parts are in place. do you have any suggestions?
4 года назад
Hey bro, thanks for the kind words. Have you got your engine in the bench or is it still in the bike as normal???
4 года назад
If your back wheel is on the ground then make sure it is in neutral gear. The clutch basket gets its power from the crank unless your in neutral
@ Hey. my english is based on google translate. I prepared a movie on my channel. please watch. maybe you'll notice something that's wrong.
4 года назад+1
@@bartoszbartosz7650 In your video, are you IN GEAR when it is "locked" up? If so then that is NORMAL - the clutch basket rotates with the engine, it should not move freely when it is in gear.
Aren't you rotating the engine when turning the clutch basket anyway? In gear or not the crankshaft is engaged with the clutch initially. So take the plugs out but will still feel residual friction afterwards.
I did buy the clutch springs that you recommended. Now it is impossible to get my bike into neutral in 1 try when I am sitting at a red light. They are to much spring for the bike. I also changed the clutch and I used a Barnett clutch . I have no idea why it is almost impossible to to get the bike into neutral when the bike is running . If the bike is turned off it goes into neutral no problem . It is like the clutch is still engaged when I try to get into neutral at a light. I still recommend the springs they are good springs. I am just having a problem with them and I don't know why . Would you know why this is happening and how I can fix the problem ?
4 года назад
Did you torque them to the correct specifications brother? Dont forget they are heavy duty and may just need running in for a day or two before they bed in. What oil are you running? This can also cause issues.
@ I did this back in July of 2020 when I was on vacation and they have not broken in yet. My motorcycle mechanic thinks they are way too much spring and he feels I should go back to the OEM springs. I have talked to several people about this and everyone says the same thing to go back to the OEM springs. On another note I put a cobra exhaust on the bike and it sounds amazing . of course I took out the baffles . But DAMN does it sound amazing. There is a video of it on Utube somewhere.
when I start the my 2012 model m109r, the sound of rattling sound comes from the side of the clutch and as soon as you press the clutch lever, the sound stops what is the problem of the thing please help me
Hagar ,just want to change clutch springs only. do i have to open the clutch bleeder nut to release the pressure before i actually start taking the spring bolts out? regards, two wheels.
Also, is there a torque on the clutch plate cover bolts as well.
3 года назад
Clutch bleeder nut? Not 100% sure I know what you are referring too my friend. The engine Oil ideally needs to be dropped before working on the clutch, you can do this by removing the sump plug on the underside of the engine. Then you can remove the casing bolts, remove casing to get at the clutch.
Does anybody know what is the maximum lateral movement of the clutch pressure disc towards clutch cover? I am wondering that there is a circular sign of contact between pressure disc and clutch cover!
Q&A -> Thanks for checking out the video, if you have any questions drop them here!
So the Barnett performance link on Amazon says it wont fit a 97 vs1400.

I'm sure this is the first time I found this video and a few hours after I assembled my entire clutch incorrectly. Dang it. On to the second run on the clutch job. I just wish I could charge myself hourly.
your kit its for 1996 -more .. i have a 1994 that fit ? gasket fit ? im not shure of the compatibiliti
I believe the clutch kit will fit the 1994 but always best to check first.
Do you have to remove the engine from the frame in order to change the clutch
No you don't :) You will likely need to remove the foot rest/pegs however to get at the bottom of the clutch case.
Thank you for answering so quickly I'm thinking of buying a 97 Suzuki Intruder 800 for $1,100 looks to be in very good shape the owner says if it clutch stopped engaging that's why he's selling it so cheap it doesn't look like it's too bad to repair I don't know though
PS excellent videos thank you so much for posting them
@@terryazzali3188 Could well be something as simple as the clutch line needs bleeding, start with the basics once you start wrenching on it :)
Good morning, are all of the clutch springs identical and only the bolts vary, or are the springs as different as the bolts? Thx . . . Jim
Hi jim the springs are different, there are 2 types, one set has more coils than the other.
You can do this with the engine in the frame, right?
Yes certainly, but advised to drain the oil first ;)
Спасибо , очень полезное видио!
You can use the old ones providing they have not got burn marks on them from the heat of the engine. Typically purple and blue is a tell tale sign that you need to replace them aswell.
@ cool, thanks for the answer! 🙂
do you know how to mount the magneto to the starter driven gear? cant seem to get it on
Hi Hagar. Do you happen to know of any websites that still sell the Intruder backrest extensions? All my research only found 1 used one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Try looking at thunder bike or intruder-team my friend
I’m so unlucky man , watched your video and changed clutch on my 1991 Suzuki intruder 1400 every was close to done , got to torque part and one of the screws snapped and broke inside! Trying to make the decision of taking it to scrap yard
Just take it apart and remove the piece of broken bolt . Buy a new one and finish the job. These are the nearest thing to Milwaukee iron ever to come out of Japan. Otherwise that's not known as luck , it's being unconfident. YOU CAN DO IT.
@@jackrichards1863 I bought the whole clutch basket of eBay and made it work ! Thanks budd
Can you help me with my intruder 1400 . Can’t pump hydraulics fluid seem like stuck many other things like I can’t open the gasoline tank the key not turn and also need help with carburetor make services just bought the bike from other person . Has bike set for while not used
I pulled the center bolt out on accident! How do I get it back inn?
Which bolt are you referring too?
@ center i got it
Outstanding Great Video !!!
Thank you good sir! Much appreciated!
Hi. good video. I have a problem with my vz 800. the clutch basket does not rotate freely in the large toothed wheel. all parts are in place. do you have any suggestions?
Hey bro, thanks for the kind words. Have you got your engine in the bench or is it still in the bike as normal???
If your back wheel is on the ground then make sure it is in neutral gear. The clutch basket gets its power from the crank unless your in neutral
@ Hey. my english is based on google translate. I prepared a movie on my channel. please watch. maybe you'll notice something that's wrong.
So will the clutch kit you put in the link work for 97 vs1400?
Yes it will fit. Barnetts clutch will fit from 1987-2009 :)
well done bro thanks :)
You're welcome brother. Be safe out there!
@ you too bro ;)
Did you torque them to the correct specifications brother? Dont forget they are heavy duty and may just need running in for a day or two before they bed in. What oil are you running? This can also cause issues.
@ Torqued to 8-9 LBS and I use spectrum 10/40 motorcycle oil. I hope they get better.
What is the thickness of the new clutch discs?
What's the torch in the clutch case?
when I start the my 2012 model m109r, the sound of rattling sound comes from the side of the clutch and as soon as you press the clutch lever, the sound stops what is the problem of the thing please help me
Can I reuse the steel plates and just replace the friction plates?
Hey H peter, yes you can providing the steel plates store not warped, burnt, or worn down to under a certain thickness. :)
Thanks! My family surprised me with my 2007 Boulevard S83 two days ago. I really like your videos with all the details.
@@hpeters9980 That is an incredible gift! Congratulations! And thank you for your kind words good sir be safe out there.
what is the torque value? thank u
It will depend on the springs themselves. Different brands will have different torque settings. TYPICALLY speaking, it is anywhere between 8-11 nM
Hagar ,just want to change clutch springs only. do i have to open the clutch bleeder nut to release the pressure before i actually start taking the spring bolts out? regards, two wheels.
Also, is there a torque on the clutch plate cover bolts as well.
@ clutch bleeder valve is what i meant.
I am also wondering if there is a torque spec on the clutch cover bolts?
Bom dia hagar manda o vídeo retirando a bomba D'água ok um abraço
Does anybody know what is the maximum lateral movement of the clutch pressure disc towards clutch cover? I am wondering that there is a circular sign of contact between pressure disc and clutch cover!
Tq specs ? I didn't hear you mention
This guy talks more than he works!”
You're welcome my friend.
