My most ignorant play was probably when I took a break from the game for like a year and a half since 2019, I've been playing since 2017 (I came back like mid 2021) and when I got back, I got Necro one of my favorite coven roles next to PM and HM, and fake claim Retributionist because back in the day if you had no proper claim as Necro or really about almost any other role, you could fake claim Ret and give yourself a day for "confirmation", well boi I should've read if there were any role changes cause I made a fool of myself and got guiltied up on stand because somebody corrected me in chat that Retributionist was changed to act like Necro but for townies. After that, I went to research and try to make sure I keep up with new role edits and luckily found out about the framer, the SK anti roleblock killing button, Arsonist dousing whoever visits them, and a few other things
My VERY first game I got Jester on Classic Mode. I believed that getting executed by the town would count as a win for me. A few days passed and I was jailed and the jailor asked for my role. I used to think that claims meant asking for someone’s exact role, I said I can’t tell you as mafioso and got lynched, I learnt about fake claiming later but I’m still not good at it
This wasn't early on but rather when I came back after a break. Back in the old days when spies could read whispers you would whisper someone and say something like "Spy Test 973" and the spy would have to repeat your whisper back to be confirmed. Well, when I came back I didn't know about the rework. I went on for about 3 days screaming that a spy was fake when in all reality I just didn't know the spy literally wasn't seeing the code. Also faking doused after you couldn't see douses anymore happened as godfather once. Got hung for that one.
Whenever it said "You dragged your target to jail" i was immideately thinking hah!, This target is a visiting role,so it cant be retri med or vet etc. So i would exe anybody claiming thoose roles and i would say "Haha ur fake it said i dragged you to jail"
one time i was retri and i used LO on revealed mayor and then they hung me because mayor forgot how retri works and someone was literally yelling at me to revive someone even though it was after the rework then the next day the mayor died and i finally explained to them how retri works in dead chat edit: thye hung me because i used the dead LO to visit the mayor and i only saw the dead LO visit the mayor and i posted my results and said 'seriously? no tps?' (this was in all any) and mayor was like 'So 13 is exe/jest?'
My biggest misconception was as crusader. I killed the VH and thought crusader killed attackers so i accused the person i protected of being a vampire.
I luckily didn't go through any of these ones you mentioned but I am sure I made a few mistakes during my games. I learned most of my things from Pipe and would always look out for you in games. I would like to see your perspective for once and know what goes through your head and how you and pipe always seem to be in sync. I liked when Ret brought people back from the dead, that was always cool. Cya Round... Agdaga.
I would say one I had was that in VIP mode I thought all roles could see who the VIP was so I just jokingly accused them D2 basically telling all the evils who it was.
I had watched a ton of ToS RUclips videos before I actually played, so I skipped a lot of the new player basic ignorance stuff. I might not have played well, necessarily, but I did more or less understand Classic. And blunders I DID make, I don't remember.
I used to think lookout could see whoever you watch who they visited like tracker aswell. So I would always call someone out for "not visiting" who they claimed to visit and they get executed because they though I was a jester
My misconceptions: 1 - The investigator results thing (Guys! 12 is Werewolf, Godfather or Jailor!) 2 - I should always self protect n1 (We aren't gonna talk about how I let the Mayor die, that didn't happen ok? Whoever that Mayor was I'm sorry D: ) Didnt have much else other than inexperience, so stuff like what transporter did. (it was confusing) if you count the transporter thing then 3 - Transporter acts like a good witch (I thought person A gets forced to go to person B) I'd watched a good bit of ToS before starting (this was about 3-4 years ago at this point) and I thought I could handle it ok. I did alright? I kinda had the normal beginners experience ig, you get the absolute living hell kicked out of you for the first few games and then when you start to get a grasp on the game you start doing better.
I started playing during my free periods after we were allowed to go back to school due to covid dying down in Early 2021, becuase someone from among us told me to try the game out. My first game was town traitor (classic) and I was a doctor. Someone claimed Jailor so I went on them and the lookout saw me. They were doing a VFR and I was being voted up (d2) had no clue what to say so I stayed silent… they inno'd me because of the aforementioned lookout stating I was on the jailor. That’s not all… right after that whole fiasco I saw someone ambush so I assumed DOCTORS could see ambushes. An hour later in a different game, someone claimed to be doctor and there was an ambusher kill. I was saying stuff like, “Doctors can see ambushers that’s what they do” and then I pushed the doctor and tried to get them lynched for not seeing the ambush which lead to me getting lynched and reported as a sheriff. I was so also confused on how Lookouts saw someone visit my first game (I literally thought that you could watch people in game murder someone like among us) so I was squinting at the screen hoping to catch someone at night….
All the misconceptions I can remember having are to do with psychic from when I bought coven: 1. I thought psychic was unique. I had spent a lot of time browsing the ToS Wiki, and seemed to remember psychic being listed as unique, even though it isn't. I claimed psychic as exe, and upon dying, said that the real psychic should have immediately called me out for fake-claiming a real role. I should have been immediately called out on day 3 for a different reason though... 2. I thought psychic always had three people on the result. I just thought that good nights were basically the most pointless thing as at least 1 of 3 people in a list would appear as good. Soon found out it was only 2, but not before a brief period of time where... 3. I thought it was randomised whether there would be 2 or 3 people on any given night on a psy will. Basically just me being ignorant. And finally... 4. I thought the psy results were always in numerical order. Found out this one was wrong when I actually got psychic for the first time. Nobody ever called me out for faking a psy will in which every single night had the results in numerical order. I know a lot of people go through a period of time where they don't understand what at least means in regards to psychic, but I knew right from the get go that you could potentially multiple evils in evil nights or multiple townies in good nights.
I can't really say I had all that many misconceptions when starting the game, probably from experience playing Mafia/werewolf in person with friends in the past. However, I will say that one that I had for a while, was that Transporter is a TP, and when I saw people asking for TP, I naturally thought they were asking for a transporter to be on them.
mines was that I thought both consig and invest had the same results i was like "guys its this guy im invest" they said "whats your invest results?" i said "your target is a carrier. They must be a pb" guess who got lynched
I thought I could trust my friend when i was ww (back when ww was like vampire, there was multiple but you couldn't turn) , and new to the game, having only been used a referral code from my friend, by giving him my role and who my partner was. We ended up killing him so he wouldn't reveal us. BTW me and my friend were in person
my first spy game was after they removed the reading whisper ability, and I think it was an all any game but I got jailed and exed bc I had no idea how spy worked
Most of my misconceptions happened after I left and rejoined. A lot of rules had changed and a lot of new roles were... different so I am still struggling with some. Such as thinking a ret/necro didnt visit at all so a tracker tracking them would show they didnt go anywhere. So I called a tracker a liar once when they tracked a necro do a maf.
Same. I stopped playing around 2016-2017, and came back in 2021. I never played Coven cause I didn't want to ask my parents for money at the time. So you can imagine how much I didn't know when I came back. New Ret, new Arso, all the Coven roles.
@@LycanFerret u get 3 free coven tickets every 25 games you play or is that like a thing that only was a thing after you joined? idk i dont play tos that much
So one time I was new I was vet and like n1 I killed a vigi I thought 7 was maf then they revealed and voted me up when I was confirmed and they hung me when it was obv the other person
I remember I used to think that executioner and jester were town roles and unfortunately for me I got exe before I found they they were not town roles claimed exe in jail and was promptly executed
If there is one thing I have learned throughout the years that I have played TOS is that mobile users that get medium will try to say they can't copy paste dead chat, learning after about a year that they are lying, and just being lazy. This also made it were if someone claims medium and does not copy paste dead chat they will be put up on the stands or executed as a rule of thumb for myself.
When I got my first game as Invest in TOS2 (I started with it) I thought that if I visited the player who got stabbed by an SK I would get roleblocked. I then said this in my investigator will and promptly got hung because no one could understand what I meant
A misconception that I had was that ALL neutrals could side whoever they wanted. So I though sk, werewolf, witch, arsonist, juggernaut, vampire, plaguebearer/pestilence could all side town if they wanted to.
I thought the "copy chat" button auto copied and pasted like posting a will does. For months I believed my copy button didn't work because I didn't realize I had to paste it myself.
I thought investigator results were completely random, and didn’t know there was a set list for like 2 months. It wasn’t until I actually got into ToS that I started to fake claim investigator like a normal person.
One time I was playing all any and I got mayor, the only times I had ever seen mayor is in classic, their strat would be only reveal when you get voted up, I learned the embarrassing way, that that is not the all any strat, someone even thought I was afk lol (I was not close to being afk)
...I was inspired by pipe to play... And unluckily rolled sk... Didn't know what to do, and... There was ANOTHER sk, I was claiming ret, and somehow was confirmed not sk by being cautious and never killing anyone... while another sk killed, I finally went for a kill, and hit them, finding my buddy, and... Accused them because I didn't know I won with them, they had to convince me I won with them, and I got the rarest sk achievement while on my first sk game lol I now always play as "Sk claim" to make sure I never forgor how dumb I was then.
3:48 I still never fake claim invest for that exact reason, not the misconception I knew that thanks to watching pipe fake claim invest, I just am terrified to try it.
In my first coven game ever, I got consig and played how i play consig as usual, claim invest post will easy. Problem was, i didnt know that all the roles would have more roles added onto their invest check. I found a bg and said in d2 that "N1: 8 (bg gf arso)" and got lynched same day.
Hey Adagia! I’m a big fan of Pipe and found your channel through there. I was wondering if you knew how I could become more involved, especially with the discord and games. I used to think a ton of roles were unique. I can't remember all of them because this was like 4 years ago but some more notable ones were: Vampire Hunter Witch (I once killed a witch claim as mafioso because I'd already found another witch and thought they were faking lol) Lookout Transporter No idea why I thought they were unique, I wasn't very smart.
one time i was spy playing a game with 3 spies in total, they found the first two but didnt believe me because 3 spies is kinda rare. cant blame them tho
@@pluto3194 one time i was witch and another witch whispered me like 'whats ur role' and i asked for their role and they claimed witch to me and im not very good at the game so i believe every claim i see so i just bought it and claimed witch back to them, i told them/they told me who the sk was so we just used them to kill others, eventually the other witch got lynched but i won the game
Jailing pest is the worst thing to do they can attack you then you might oof to your death bloxston is better you can go to houses and target but town of Salem needs a screen of what you do
I... actually didnt have any misconceptions (as far as I can remember). I started playing well after the last update, but I had watched 50+ of JeromeASF's ToS videos, so I was pretty informed. That isnt to say I wasnt missing any information, though.
Let me reach almost 9 years into the past to recall some of my baby ToS misconceptions. Mhm.
So i would exe anybody claiming thoose roles and i would say "Haha ur fake it said i dragged you to jail"
one time i was retri and i used LO on revealed mayor and then they hung me because mayor forgot how retri works and someone was literally yelling at me to revive someone even though it was after the rework
then the next day the mayor died and i finally explained to them how retri works in dead chat
edit: thye hung me because i used the dead LO to visit the mayor and i only saw the dead LO visit the mayor and i posted my results and said 'seriously? no tps?' (this was in all any) and mayor was like 'So 13 is exe/jest?'
Fun fact I only ever had one misconception when I started. I thought that crusader could kill vampires.
why doesnt crus kill vamps, they're a CRUSADER, you'd think a vamp would be a PRIORITY???
@@beanslinger2 ask bmg
Wait they can’t?
@@ayzix-polytopia3854 correct
@@ayzix-polytopia3854 Crusaders cannot attack vampires visiting their target. However, the crusader will still protect the target from being bitten
I knew about making will about your role. So I did that. I was sk. I still won that game because I didn’t get asked to post my will
My biggest misconception was as crusader.
Agdaga.
its not agdaga is iadgiaga
@@uhhhhrandompersoniguess5567 nah its dagiagiiad
How yall getting it wrong its amida
I would say one I had was that in VIP mode I thought all roles could see who the VIP was so I just jokingly accused them D2 basically telling all the evils who it was.
Coven roles are immune to medusa's gaze. I'm still mad about it
I had watched a ton of ToS RUclips videos before I actually played, so I skipped a lot of the new player basic ignorance stuff.
My misconception first time playing:
that witch wins with town. Idk why i thought this.
My misconceptions:
1 - The investigator results thing (Guys! 12 is Werewolf, Godfather or Jailor!)
2 - I should always self protect n1 (We aren't gonna talk about how I let the Mayor die, that didn't happen ok? Whoever that Mayor was I'm sorry D: )
Didnt have much else other than inexperience, so stuff like what transporter did. (it was confusing) if you count the transporter thing then
3 - Transporter acts like a good witch (I thought person A gets forced to go to person B)
I'd watched a good bit of ToS before starting (this was about 3-4 years ago at this point) and I thought I could handle it ok.
I did alright? I kinda had the normal beginners experience ig, you get the absolute living hell kicked out of you for the first few games and then when you start to get a grasp on the game you start doing better.
I thought cc meant can confirm when I started playing.
Same here!
imagine the confusion from this
I started playing during my free periods after we were allowed to go back to school due to covid dying down in Early 2021, becuase someone from among us told me to try the game out.
I kept thinking disguiser can disguise ambusher and the people who got ambushed will see the disguised ambusher with the mimic target as the ambusher.
Yea I had to learn this one the hard way too
i am still confused how disguiser works with spy
@@uhhhhrandompersoniguess5567 basically, a spy will not see the visits of mafia members that are disguised as non-mafias.
The first time I played coven I fake claimed spy. I didn't know that spy also saw coven visits so I just put mv.
All the misconceptions I can remember having are to do with psychic from when I bought coven:
However, I will say that one that I had for a while, was that Transporter is a TP, and when I saw people asking for TP, I naturally thought they were asking for a transporter to be on them.
xD imagine the confusion
and if you're wondering what the edit was I just fixed a double space between xD and imagine
mines was that I thought both consig and invest had the same results
i was like "guys its this guy im invest"
they said "whats your invest results?"
i said "your target is a carrier. They must be a pb"
guess who got lynched
i watched a lot of pipetron before starting to play, so my first game in classic i claimed tracker and was executed by the jailor n2 lol
When I first played, I thought survivor was a mafia role... because surv sided mafia (3 members) over me, the amnesiac-turned-mayor....
A misconception I had was that was how sheriff worked as I tended to execute sheriffs that wrote Inno/GF as I thought they were a fake investigator
I thought that u could self heal and visit someone so I failed to save the Jailor but we still won
Me when I intentionally spread misinformation! (I'm a evil role and I am doing this to save my own hide)
my first spy game was after they removed the reading whisper ability, and I think it was an all any game but I got jailed and exed bc I had no idea how spy worked
@@LycanFerret u get 3 free coven tickets every 25 games you play
or is that like a thing that only was a thing after you joined?
idk i dont play tos that much
This happens to me with ret guy claimed it but wasn’t reviving jailor so I tried to get him lynched, needless to say I looked very stupid that game
So one time I was new I was vet and like n1 I killed a vigi I thought 7 was maf then they revealed and voted me up when I was confirmed and they hung me when it was obv the other person
n1 you killed a vigi? ...imagine being witched into a veteran oof
@@uhhhhrandompersoniguess5567 i don’t think it was n1 but it was early
@@bobgardener9137 oh ok
I remember I used to think that executioner and jester were town roles and unfortunately for me I got exe before I found they they were not town roles claimed exe in jail and was promptly executed
I thought Lookout didn't visit their target and watched their target from the safety of their home LOL. That costed me a game.
My misconception was my very first game where i was medium and it was i was a secret psychic so I kept my role a secret all game
I thought that uncommon roles couldn't have an Exe until I rolled exe with Veteran as my target but that was a couple years ago.
I remember thinking that survivor was a town role, so I rolled godfather in classic and claimed survivor.
I thought the "copy chat" button auto copied and pasted like posting a will does. For months I believed my copy button didn't work because I didn't realize I had to paste it myself.
I didn't know that this wasn't the case until last month btw.
I used to think meds could talk to each other at night so I called the other med claim fake day 2 because of that lol
Haha- I’ve played one classic game. One. I recently started. The other 20 games I’ve played are All Any.
I loved Dracula's palace, sad no one plays it anymore
In my first coven game ever, I got consig and played how i play consig as usual, claim invest post will easy.
Problem was, i didnt know that all the roles would have more roles added onto their invest check. I found a bg and said in d2 that "N1: 8 (bg gf arso)" and got lynched same day.
We love Frankie
True true
Love to see an upload!!
Well ig I didn't get the right of passage. From the very first time I started using that fake claim, I looked up online references.
Hey Adagia! I’m a big fan of Pipe and found your channel through there. I was wondering if you knew how I could become more involved, especially with the discord and games. I’m a big town of salem player but I honestly don’t know how to get the discord link or if the games are random besides you and Dianna, but I would love to play a game with you three sometime (in a video or not). I appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks, and I love your channel
I thought that med was medic
The worst thing i have done is
Claimming Sheriff every game as evil
And saying vigi is rb immune
Thats it
Nothing goes wrong when starting out with Coven All Any
I like your honest-tea
I had that same misconception with inves
I once thought that disg killed people and took their place.
it used to.
Thinking that investigator results were randomly generated each game
I thought jester was a RT role… I claimed RT jest a few times
I used to think a ton of roles were unique. I can't remember all of them because this was like 4 years ago but some more notable ones were:
Vampire Hunter
Witch (I once killed a witch claim as mafioso because I'd already found another witch and thought they were faking lol)
Lookout
Transporter
No idea why I thought they were unique, I wasn't very smart.
one time i was spy playing a game with 3 spies in total, they found the first two but didnt believe me because 3 spies is kinda rare. cant blame them tho
@@uhhhhrandompersoniguess5567
I played a ranked game that had 4 spies in it one time. None of them ended up surviving the game
Once I was med in the endgame with another med and a mafioso and I voted up the med because I thought they were fake, since I couldn't see them talk
Jailing pest is the worst thing to do they can attack you then you might oof to your death bloxston is better you can go to houses and target but town of Salem needs a screen of what you do
How many of these have you used as a jester strat?
Yeah so I played classic and fake claimed sherrif bc thats what all the other youtubers do (kinda) and apparently there can only be one sherif lmao
I sisnt have misconceptions because I never played town of Salem.
I started in caa because I payed for it and by golla ima stick with it
I thought for the longest time that jester was neutral chaos, not evil.
The sad moment when you don’t understand town of Salem at all but you still watch these videos-💀
omg. the dragon has wings. bahahahahahahahaha!
My number one misconception was that i thought hypno was a good role
I... actually didnt have any misconceptions (as far as I can remember). I started playing well after the last update, but I had watched 50+ of JeromeASF's ToS videos, so I was pretty informed. That isnt to say I wasnt missing any information, though.
Where is thinking vet isn't a unique
I starter with AA
Let me reach almost 9 years into the past to recall some of my baby ToS misconceptions.
Mhm.
I think my first misconception was thinking as Jester you could kill anyone if you got lynched. 11 year old me spent way way too long staring at the role list when dead wondering why only certain people were able to get haunted.
I forged juggernaut
Sounds like a stupid mistake right?
I made it last night.
I was on my medicine.
