      If I wanted to try this with beef, would just suggest stir frying some thin beef slices and then tossing them with this sauce?

    That looks very delicious and very crispy. I will be adding flour to my salmon from now on.
    Also, I never had fresh Onigiri in America before. They are only available in some Asian supermarkets but its usually cold and filled with dry meat.
    Do you have any delicious home recipes for onigiri? I would like to try several fillings! Thank you!

    Wonderful work as always. Funny enough I use a closely related sauce of my own device. It's a balsamic honey sauce with garlic. You basically substitute cooking sake with white wine, soy sauce with balsamic vinegar, and once it has cooled down I usually add some fleur de sel. Other ingredients and proportions are the same.

    Beautiful dish champ. Love me a good salmon dish.
    Two questions. What is your preferred ingredients to adding spice to a thick teriyaki sauce?
    And two. Were you a fighter before being a culinary king? I wanna hear a fight story!

    • @ChampsJapaneseKitchen
      @ChampsJapaneseKitchen  2 года назад +5

      In Japan for spice we usually go with Shichimi - which is a type of chili powder mixed with other seeds and spices. Maybe that would go well if you're looking to make it spicier! Maybe not in the sauce, but on the salmon with sauce would work better.
      And I actually trained as a sushi chef for 3 years before becoming a fighter! I'll be sure to tell you guys more stories about that in some videos coming soon!

      You CAN use them as a substitute - but please keep in mind a leek is a bit tougher than a Japanese negi so may take extra time to cook

    I tried this and I think you have to reduce the amount of starch if using potato starch. My sauce thickened instantly and became a sludge, not runny at all. I can hold my kettle upside down without any of the sauce running out.

    Hey, quick question. Would ginger be a normal ingredient to add to teriyaki sauce in Japan? I enjoy making and eating it with ginger, garlic, and green onion but that's more of a Chinese thing I think. It's always best to learn the original recipe first. Thanks!
