The sixth and final season of the historical drama television series Vikings premiered on December 4, 2019, on History in Canada. The series broadly follows the exploits of the legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lothbrok and his crew, and later those of his sons. Развлечения
I love the end of ivar. All of his life was a struggle (A war against himself -he said to fraydis). His mother was murdered, his wife betrayed him (and gave him this god complex) and in the end he find happiness (relationship with Katia and father/brother role for Igor). But he left this because of Ragnar (see their last conversation-keyword: happiness is nothing). To see how he finished ragnars last wish was phenomenal (this last ruthless fight)(Flokis reaction was also hearthbreaking ).
To see how every son of ragnar fullfill one of Ragnars wishes, is the perfect end (Björn-united all vikings ,Ubbe find new land, Hvitserk became christian and Ivar was the most feared viking) .
Love your reviews. Best wishes from germany.
And of course there was Sigurd, capturing the.. uh.. wish of Ragnar to be killed by his brother.
Second thought, let's not talk about Sigurd
Also katia carrying ivars child which mean he gets to be a father and his bloodline continues

I still don't get why Ivar couldn't have his chariot here... Hvitserk was fighting like Rollo though, and that was badass.
Yeah he was like a crazy beast on a rampage!
There were quite a few scenes in the series where Hvitserk was portrayed as a damn good warrior/swordsman.
@@crazyworld54321 Indeed! On another note, all I needed in 2020 was to see Floki. I was back & forth about thinking he was actually dead up until he appeared on screen.
@@BakedFrodo96 yeah. Me and my dad were debating whether they would bring him back for the las 2 episodes. Honestly the only issue with the last episode was it felt rushed and Hvitserk’s conversion.
@@obnoxiousbrit6875 Hvitserk was turned into Christian and named Athelstan because of a reference to Alfreds father. But also I think he’s meant to be the very Athestan that was the first king of England
Not going to lie. For me personally, the ending to this epic series was very anticlimactic. I respect how they had Ivar go out. And the scenes with Ubba, Floki and the rest in North America were cool. But it all felt very rushed to me.
They said they were gonna move the story along once they realized this was the last season but I liked it pure haymakers
@@palehorserider1407 There were some cool scenes this season definitely
@@Okkotsu86275 yeah a lot of great speech’s ! I keep my expectations low so I’m not disappointed but I found myself loving it specially being able to watch 2/3 episodes at a time
@@palehorserider1407 Likeswise. My expectations weren’t super high, but I was underwhelmed nonetheless
I do not think Ivarr fought against King Alfred. The tradition says that Ivarr died in battle , near Dublin, Ireland....
My favorite part of the episode is when Ubbe starts to blood eagle that one guy and he starts crying, so Ubbe has a suprised look and whispers in the guys ear "Valhallas not for you"
Yeah I thought it would have been cool to have that to end out the story there but they way the turned it around was even better!
My favorite part was when Ubba and Othere talk and othere says his god is everywhere, then Ubba starts with "i have seen your christ pray to the father. The Allfather. Your god recognizes mine" or something like that. Ubba had the best storyline and im glad the show ended with him in the final scenes.
@@KingMckay I think Ivar went into the thick of the fighting both to save Hvitserk and because he wanted to die fighting.
@sdffasf asfddfas Good point. Still a noble thing, saving his brother like that.
i love the number of likes in this comment

Ivar's "puppetry" as if controlling his guards is definitely one of, if not the best scene in the episode. Sums up his strategic character very well
And similar to the original scene when Ivar is insisting he can't be killed, Haehmund is the only one that points him out and is clearly not afraid. In this scene, Ivar once again begins screaming and yelling that he is Ivar the Boneless and can't be killed, Alfred stands and watches, curious but not afraid. It was nice how they portrayed several aspects and perspectives in a lot of scenes throughout the series.
@@crazyworld54321 The symbolisms are ripe in this show and I love it!
Yes, and his crying saying I’m afraid. Shows his true fears he’s had since his time on the show; that he was to broken and weak to reach Valhalla. Then you here the ravens!! Ivar with his pops again
I thought it was retarded honestly. I was just like what the hell am i watching
@@radiatedracer3830 yeah I agree, this was the only cringe moment in the entire series
Ivar entered the battle because his eyes turned blue and he was breaking bones more frequently. He wouldn’t have been able to be a effective Viking leader if he was unable to survey the battlefield. He even references it when he tells Hvitserk that it’s true he will die one day, and says that hopefully it’s in battle and not as a drooling old man. Ivar sacrificed his life for his reputation and desire to be the greatest Viking of all time. Well that, and the fact that he was at a cross roads and didn’t know what else there was left to achieve.
I can see how Ivar being faced with a fully crippled life as his condition worsens, that would choose rather to take control of his fate and preserve the legacy he cared so much for. Ivar was a Viking till the end!
first half part is so wrong
@@IonutTocica Care to actually elaborate on your point?
@@giants2k8he did not enter the battle because he had blue eyes, he had blue eyes because his feelings were strong. despair, anger, desire, helplessness, love (for his brother) and in such moments, he becomes reckless, losing his sanity and lucidity and because of that it's about to do something stupid and dangerous
And the 2nd thing: Ivar is the last leader and king of vikings (was made king by Herald)
and actually, in battles, he is the best viking leader. Dont tell me you dont understand why...
@@IonutTocica Mmmm, no. His eyes turned blue as a result of his condition; they turn blue when he is in danger of breaking a bone. (He even says this in season 5 before he threw the mead over Ubbe.) His eyes weren’t blue after he killed Sigurd or Freydis. I also don’t recall his eyes turning blue when he burned whole families alive and proclaimed himself a god. How did you not notice in the last couple of episodes that he was obviously struggling to walk and consistently breaking bones, which was excruciating. Killing Freydis, the whole experience in Kiev, and his relationship with Igor fundamentally changed him as a person.
How did Harald name him King? Yes, I agree. He is the best military leader out of all the brothers; however he is only effective when he has a clear view of the battlefield. Where he can make tactical decisions on the spot. If he was crippled, he would be unable to do that (Because he’d be nowhere near the battlefield.) and his presence is what inspires his troops. He did want to save Hvitserk from dying though, I’ll grant you that. But in the end he sacrificed himself for his reputation, because he knew it was necessary for his legacy. If he was bed-ridden; his reputation and influence would eventually fade.
For those saying the series should have ended with a scene in Valhalla, you’re missing the point. The major themes of ‘Vikings’ illustrate how the passage of time, exposure to different cultures, and how the ambition and corruption of power makes each character and their culture question themselves, their community, and their core beliefs (Norse paganism and Christianity) and values. In short, it’s a series about existentialism, and despite being set in the Dark Ages, these themes relate as much to the modern globalized world. Producer and creator, Michael Hirst, deserves much credit for this endeavor.
Such an interesting and strong point you made! Existentialism, questioning their core beliefs and culture.. All connect to our modern times. Skol!
Michael Hirst is English not Canadian.
@@BillViolator You're right, my mistake. Thanks for the correction.
@@ElectriccLuv That is why paganism gradually died. (Which is foreshadowed in the finale). Since Scandinavia was largely a loose collection of quarrelling, petty kingdoms, the conversion to Christianity was largely pragmatic as it helped whichever monarch cement his legitimacy to rule, and trade with the rest of Christendom. The idea of one King, one kingdom, one God, is an immensely powerful ideal, especially when that legitimacy came from Rome (the once mighty center of power in Europe). Remember, this was long before secularism would take place.
@@Calgacoss Thanks for expanding on it. And for dusting off my history lessons from schools. I am from the Balkans, and the people there come from Slavic people. The Slavic people had pagan beliefs, rituals, culture. Nowadays, the region is, similarly to Scandinavia, under Christian, Muslim and Protestant religion, and lots of atheist. Ruling over people is/was certainly easier when you can refer to their common God. Skol, James!
Hvitsirk : waahhh! Arrrgggg!
Ivar : waahhh!! Arrrggg!

I loved how even the whites of Ivar's eyes turn blueish. The whole time he was screaming his old "Im Ivar the boneless you cant kill me" stuff, Alfred is just looking at him in disbelief. He knows what Ivar is doing and cannot figure a reason why. One of his most hated but respected rivals, is taking himself out, so Alfred calls the fight, imo as a last gesture to Ivar. No more of his people need die, they didnt in the first place. Alfred is such a great character. To see how Ivar changed was amazing, but then as he lay dying, crying out "I'm afraid", my dude that scene got me good. I never thought I would ever feel bad for Ivar, but duuuude.. I am surely gunna miss this show, after I've rewatched it all, maybe twice. I live this shit dude, I dunno what ima do with my life lol.

I have mixed feelings about how the show ended. Was not happy with how Kattegat ended, was hoping Htzerk would go back to rule and kick out the witch queen. Instead he converted to Christ and becomes Athelstan?!? Interesting how the queen was looking at Htzerk, perhaps she was thinking of Bjorn since he sired the Viking baby that she supposed to have with Alfred. I thought it was good how it ended with Floki and Ubbe, and how Floki kept mentioning Ragnar as if it went full circle, and when he stated to Ubbe, “ you look like him”. And thank you @KingmcKay for your outstanding analysis!
When Floki said that it did hit me hard though, got goose bumps up my arms. I did always see more of Ragnar in Ubbe compared to the other sons. Or at least the parts of Ragnar I liked the most!
@_ish like king said. Thats the point. They were trying to make us realize the golden age is gone. Move on. Thats been the whole main theme for 20 episodes. Its shows how futile and ugly the vikings really are going forward. So basically you got the point but didnt realize it.
They did to show how a lot of the Vikings had to convert to survive.
But that isn’t even the true story they fucked up wen they made Bjorn the eldest but In reality Ivar was the eldest Nd he wasn’t even a cripple he was double jointed.
@@valenfarous3150 actually they don't know why Ivar was called the Boneless. He might not have even been disabled. There's a lot of stuff we don't know about the actual people represented in the show.

True Blue Aussie!!
P.S - I avoid sleep, it's over rated anyway!! ; )
I'm pretty sure the sun is rising in the last scene with Floki and Ubbe. As they finish talking, the sun is at the horizon and the ending shot a few seconds later has the sun a few degrees above the horizon. The sunrise contrasts with Ubbe's question, "Is this the end?" because a sunrise indicates the beginning.
You are correct. They landed on the east coast so they must have been looking east over the ocean.
Pretty sure Othere was an older version of Hvitserk. At the end when he was given the name Athelstan, which was the name Othere once had. Also Othere and Hvitserk had gotten burns from the stomach, from when Bjorn tried to kill him after the Lagertha incident. Also Othere fought very similar and very good, comparing to Hvitserk when Ubbe asked him where he learned to fight like so. Idun the goddess of eternal youth, blessed Hvisterk after realizing his mistakes from abandoning the brother he loved most. Truly beautiful by the writers to finish together the importance of Hvitserk.
Woahh..
Ivar has always come out as the villain, but that last "I'm scared," hit a feel deep in me. Despite his ruthlessness, and contempt for the Christian faith, I felt something in me get disturbed at his death
Because Ivar did not want to be ruthless. He wanted his mother alive, to not be crippled, have nobody betray him, and a life without so much cruel violence. Ivar was poisoned by the violent Viking culture and his life is tragic. Death for Ivar was inevitable.
Ivar was my favorite character of this entire show and his death tore my heart out, but it was the death he wanted so it still felt right. I'm really grateful that this show finally give him an opportunity to show off his strategic genius at its finest as well as his absolutely manic brutality, after how one-dimensional he became a couple seasons back when he was king. I also really appreciate that they showed that he's also still human at the end of the day, even if he has the glory he wanted in death.
Nobody talks about this, but I whould love to see floki and ivar reunite after all these years. Floki was like a father to Ivar and I whould love to see them interact. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for them to meet though.
Yeah I didn't mention it in the video but I did like out it seemed Floki felt when Ivar died. They cut across to his reaction for a bit and it was like Odin visiting the sons of Ragnar when there father died!
@@KingMckay - Floki was like an Uncle to all the sons of Ragnar, but none more
so than Ivar. I remember, seasons back, when Ivars Mother sort "gave" him to
Floki (Ragnar was of raiding, I think) and she said something like, "teach him to
be a good Viking". I also remember them becoming very close to one another
Floki carring young Ivar around the place and slapping him on the head in a
playfull manner, and saying "come on Donkey". Yeah, the were close. But I'm so
damn sad now ..... what will I do without them all? Anyway, great sieries, yours
AND theirs!! And Kiora Kiwi!!
@@karlmuller3690 ragnar was carrying ivar not floki but you got a good point. I will miss all of them...
@@karlmuller3690 yeah and I remember the queen saying to Floki to teach her son Ivar to hate the Christians like he does. Ivar and Floki was one of my favorite dues in the show
Ah yes. But Floki grew and moved on, as did Ubbe, and Ivar did not. Although Floki had one more lesson to learn. Don't ring-bark the trees holding up your house.
I and my wife have watched the whole series from episode 1 right to the end in 3 weeks. I can honestly tell everyone that this has been the most enjoyable series we have ever watched. Sure there were a few not very nice scenes at times, but that was life back then. In the untamed world over the whole planet, a lot of countries had a far worse history with cruelty to other human beings. This had us on the edge of our seats at times and we just loved some of the characters like Lagertha, Ragna, & especially Floki & Torvi who was such a joy to watch.
Man I've been watching this series since season 1 on tv. And what's weird is I didn't cry when Bjorn died.. but when Ivar died I teared up. When he said he was afraid, I honestly like the ending to this series I'm satisfied
oh my god, same here! I loved Bjorn and though his death hurt, I wasn't emotional. It was a stoic death and a somber moment of respect, but with Ivar, whom I had hated for the better part of almost the entire show, made me tear up as well. You could truly see that he had changed and he finally made himself vulnerable, and I will always love Ivar the Boneless for that!!
Legittt same and i don't even know why
It's a shame it had to end but that last season was just....yeah. Thanks for doing these throughout, I'm sure it wasn't easy when the quality went down a bit here and there.
I feel the saga of Ragnars son's felt like a spinoff to the original story, as the style/focus of the show changed so much.
Still really excited to see what they planning with Vikings: Valhalla. The premise has so much potential for them to make another banger of a show!
@@KingMckay see you in the spinoffs: both thrones and vikings
A thing that I found interesting, that they beautifully put in, is that the native Americans see blue eyes as danger, a really nice parallel to how Ivar's eyes turn blue when he is in danger as well. Ivar decided he would die that day and be remembered, as opposed to dying from the pain of his bones breaking. Thats why he didn't defend himself from the Brit. The seer told him that he would meet his end the most painful way (probably from the bones breaking), but he denied his fate this way. Also, I think this was a great end to my favorite show.
The scene where Ivar was mimicking the soldiers was absolutely awesome, and actually made him look God-like, like he was controlling the warriors
A satisfying finale to a solid season for me.
The battle to begin with was amazing, as you said, Hvitserk went crazy in battle. I love watching him go beast mode, he killed so many Saxons lol. And with Ivar coming in to battle, he went to save Hvitserk. He realised Hvitserk was going to eventually get overwhelmed hence why he went in. After everything, they loved one another and Ivar saved his brother. His death was well done too. He knew he was going to die, and wanted to preserve his legacy. His condition was worsening so him dying on his terms is what I enjoyed. People say he’s a pussy for saying he’s afraid but that’s a side of Ivar we rarely see. Just because you welcome Valhalla doesn’t mean you can’t be afraid of dying. Hvitserk becoming Christian was interesting too, it just shows the new ways have prevailed.
All the scenes with Ubbe were great, really loved his storyline. That Native burial with the cutting back to Ubbe was fun. Wish we got to see the Blood Eagle but I get why we didn’t. That last scene with Floki, so glad his return was written well. This is the perfect example of the new ways prevailing. Both Ubbe and Hvitserk realised they had to change and survived whilst both Ivar and Harald remained to the old ways died with it.
Not much to say about Ingrid but I don’t mind her as queen, another example of the “golden age of the Vikings is over”.
Overall, a really good season and finale. I’m just glad it ended well. It wasn’t flawless and had its problems but I expected a good end for most characters and we got that. Characters like Ivar, Ubbe, Hvitserk and Harald all had their best arcs this season as well.
As always, loved these reviews. Been here a long time and your videos have always been top quality. Thank you!
Yeah I can see how Ivar being faced with a fully crippled life as his condition worsens, that would choose rather to take control of his fate and preserve the legacy he cared so much for.
Also kind of said we didn't get the full Blood Eagle, when it was mentioned I thought it would be a good way to come full circle with the concept. Though the twist of his changing it up actually worked a lot better I feel.
Overall liked a lot of what we got but I can see so many ways in which it could have been improve. Most of which is just taking more time and episodes to close out the story. However I was still really impressed by and enjoyed virtually every episode. Like you said Ivar, Ubbe, Hvitserk and Harald all had their best arcs this season! :D
Every Viking video I go to, I see you. Guess you are the same level of obsessed as I.
I thought it was terrible and rushed and the floki thing was a joke
Nothing interesting with becoming christian mate, specially during the times where the roman clergy had full power over the people of Europe like a tyranny.
That was the main interest of conversion, it was never a spiritual thing
I'm so glad they finished the series in a beautiful manner, and did not pull a Game of Thrones ending on us
At first when I watched the end, wont lie, I was in tears. I fell in love with every single one of these characters, and to see them all die this season was just so unexpected. Michael Hirst did a brilliant job at giving us such an unexpected outcome. Many times thru out the series it was said things were changing, and this season I believe we got that change. Ivar and King Harald were the 2 most set in the old ways. But after King Harald achieved his ambition, and Ivar experiences with the Rus and returning home, you can see they both realized, that much of what they fought for their whole lives, the glory, was truly meaningless and this is where the change completely set in I think because as you said Ivar and Finehair both went to England to lay their legacies to rest, die in a manner they chose, with the old ways of the Golden Age of the Vikings dying with them. Then Hvitserk and Ubbes stories both show the change settling in and the New Era coming forth.
I like how the last episode had his sons' lives shadowing parts of Ragnar's. Part of his legend is that it's believed that Ragnar is actually a combination of various Norse heros...I feel like this last season reflected that. With so many disappointing finales...this was spot on!
It's not a sunset right? It's a sunrise, making it only more beautiful
I was disappointed in Ivars death, wasn’t the death fitting for the most important person in the Viking world...
It’s the death fitting for someone who thought he was god his entire life
John Cook, I agree.
As a Dane myself, and an lifelong student of viking sagas plus british history, i find it absolutely atrocious that they just killed off the greatest and most known viking in history. In real life he died of old age as a king in Ireland.
Its ok to take creative liberties and they did that a lot in this show, after all its just television.... but dont fuck that much with history.
I stuck it out, but the last two seasons dissapointed me........ lets spend most time of two seasons on kattegat and Russia and civil war WTF....... nah for me it would have been more interresting seeing them bash some british heads, but thats just me.
@@gustural yes the Russian storyline was pointless, almost filler.
They could of made a great story line of Ivar fighting the Celts in Ireland.
@@gustural but ivpar Was from norway my friend.... Not all vikings are from little denmark 🤣
@@crodon7930 we dont know where he was from originally, his father Ragnar might have been a dane or swedish and Ragnar might not have been related to Ivar at all, the sources on this part is very sketchy.
The best historically correct version comes from the saxons and irish.
Kattegat is a made up place on the southern part of Norway and with everything else in this series being highly made up, i find i highly likely that he could have been dane or swedish as well, but in reality no one knows for sure.
For example, Bjørn (mr ironside) wasnt likely one of Ragnars sons, but rather swedish and ended up a king there, Rollo was loosely based on a real character that lived at the same time as charlamagne.
To be frank i didnt watch this show for its historically correctness, but to kill of Ivar in his 20’s when there is historically documents that tell a better and more real story, why not use that?
Anyway his death didnt do anything for me at all, it seemed like a waste, and in many ways the same with Harald.
I dont like that they felt they had to tidy up many of these caharacters in so few episodes, it felt very rushed and out of line with the other seasons.
All in all im not happy the show is finished and how it finished.
Now I watch Kingdom on Netflix (not the zombie show), and for someone who dosnt have any interest in mma, I find this series very compelling, I highly recommend.
BUT aaI look extremely forward to the Vikings spin off show with william the conqueror and Harald Hardrada amongst others.
And the sources on this timeperiod is even more comprehensive, so i hope they follow actual history more, beceause real history should be more than enough to make an exiting show.
I really feel the major theme of the last 10 episodes was old ways vs new ways. All the characters who embraced a new way of living/ view were able to live on. Were as those stuck in the old ways were left behind/died. Basically it made me think of Bob Dylan song: The Times are a changing.
* On side note my guy Hvitserk got his proper respect. As far as his baptism goes. I believe like uncle Rollo the sea/ Odin will always call him. Hvitserk being the wild card he is might become a warlord or something.
Yeah I think Hvitserk like Ubbe still has a lot of story left to tell, so I guess we will just have to come up with our own for them!
I will really miss one of my favorites series ever. Thanks M. Hirst and the entire cast & ppl behind the scenes. Skol!
Ivar was panting all the episodes and it got worse facing the final. He had broken a bone before in the leg what was shown. He had pain and difficulties to walk. He wanted to save his brother and beware hin from killing ivar by his own. Also he did not want to become bedridden and old, dying not in a wiking way. So he choose his fate to end his suffering, end havitserks destiny to kill him and to have a chance to get into valhalla.
Everything kind of went to shite after Bjorn's death. This seemed like dragging along a story which has outlived its time.
they should've made episode 21 to conclude everything is ubbe going back to kattegat to become king, what is gonna become of hvitserk when he grows old is he gonna visit rollo to tell him everything, and they should have shown ivars son when he becomes old is he gonna become some king or hero, so many questions

When the brothers embraced for the last time and said I love you... I will admit I cried 😢
I felt like when Floki said he keeps seeing Ragnar and "Ragnar what the hell you need a boat for, you're dead!" It definitely represented that Ubbe (Ragnars son and looking exactly like him) should leave because he shouldnt have came there in the first place.
I really liked how Hvitserk basically became Prince Guthrum
Yeah, I'm not sure how many people actually got that they gave Hvitserk the storyline of the real-life Viking Guthrum. For those not familiar with the story, Guthrum was one of the leaders of the Great Danish Army who converted to Christianity after being defeated in battle, was actually christened Aethelstan, and became the King of East Anglia until his death in 890. Since this show never featured Guthrum as a character, they morphed Hvitserk's storyline into this one.
My partner doesn't know very much about the history of this time period (and I have yet to get him to watch The Last Kingdom) so he didn't know the story of Guthrum, and he was confused by Hvitserk's ending.
@@ems7448 the last kingdom is must watch ? Wow thanks for ur input ! Appreciate it
@@ems7448 I did not tie that together. I dont know much bout Guthrum but I know he was a leader of the Danish army and then became Christened because of last kingdom, but after that nothing else so I didn't realize they tied Hvitserks story with his. Im not really sure how i feel about that
I've loved these discussions and how great it's been talking about it with people who love the show as much as I do. I'm going to miss these as well. I think it was a really satisfying ending and they stayed true to the characters in the end. (Now I hear linkin park in my head lol) But it was just beautifully shot, acted, written. They gave fans what I think they wanted us to have without it being too ham handed. I loved the throwbacks to Ragnar, even at the last between Floki and Ubbe. I loved how Hvistverk narrated Ivar's death the way he did Bjorn's. The only thing I was kind of dissatisfied with was Kattegat. There was no one left I cared about and the town so much time had been spent at and so blood had been spilt over almost meant nothing. But I guess even that is a good metaphor for how nothing stays the same.

When floki said about ragnar telling him to build new boat it suppose to meant that he wants ubbe to leave new world just like wikings left it in real history. Because this boat that ragnar tells floki to bulid isn't for ragnar because he is of cours dead but for his son-ubbe.

I had 3 major surgeries the past 2 years and went through a divorce while I fought and won custody of my kids and healed I had something very important to take my mind of the pain of the world and live in fantasy. It’s sort of poetic the timing it’s ended because my health is getting better and my kids are happy. It’s been almost exactly a year I have our new home. But just like Uber and Floki seeming to have promise so do I. You will never truly understand the joy you brought me in a dark time. A thousand times thank you 🙏🏼
Keep looking toward the horizon, SKAL.
I liked it when Flokki thought he had found a way to the kingdom of the dwarfs, and by default he would find the gods. Only to discover a Christian crucifix. It was this type of thinking that made the earlier seasons so original. Can’t help but think it had run its course and it was time to bring it to an end.
I've enjoyed your breakdowns ever since I came across them since I don't have tv. Thank You so much King Mckay
I appreciate that glad you stuck with me!
The conversion scene and the accompanying soundtrack was a powerful combination.
Thank you for these reviews! I watched all of them and really enjoyed them.
Glad you like them!
They didn't show the part where Floki felt Ivar's death I thought that would be on here. So sad such a great show had to end
Farewell Vikings it has been a great journey the ending was poetic, thank you King Mackay for doing these reviews you did a great job :)
Loved this series.Followed it from the very beginning, sad that it ended.Changed my Life in positive ways
I can’t believe it’s over, I’ve been with Vikings almost since the beginning and it’s always going to stick with me as my favourite show ever 🖤
Note as well how floki and ubbe look like ragnar at the beginning and end of his life. All ragnars sons portrait a part of his life, ubbe the explorer, bjorn the leader, ivar the raider, hviserk when he was thinking about Christianity. And not to forget sigurd who played the lute 😂😂
I was hoping for an ending where all of Ragnar’s sons die and a clip of them reuniting with Ragnar and drinking ale together in Valhalla, but I’m more than satisfied with this ending as well
Another great video! Loved this series man!
Thank you for the reviews.
I believe wholeheartedly that Ivar’s primary motivation for going in to the battle at that time, was to save Hvitzerk, and in more ways than one. By that I mean, I believe Ivar not only wanted to save Hvitzerk’s life, but to save his honor, his reputation, and hopefully to help restore Hvitzerk’s fragmented ego, and self esteem, and to formally say good bye to Hvitzerk, and tell him that he loves him.
I believe that Ivar saw that Hvitzerk was in complete fight mode, and the way he was slashing, and lashing out at anyone, and anything that was coming near him, Ivar knew that it would only have been a matter of time that Hvitzerk would have used up his energy, and grown tired, and he would have been killed. Ivar went in to help Hvitzerk snap out of the unregulated, self defeating mind set he was in, by getting next to him, and that is when Ivar was able to relay his wish to tell Hvitzerk that he truly loved him, and Ivar could then say his good bye to the brother he had relentlessly teased, taunted, confused, and frightened, for so many years.
By having Ivar order his brother away from the battle, at that time, it would be more of an honorable retreat, by Hvitzerk, and I believe Ivar was tired of his life, I think he was out of ideas, and I’m sure that he did not want to be taken prisoner. Ivar wanted to go out in a blaze of glory in battle, in order to be allowed to go to Valhalla. For all these reasons, I believe this is why Ivar died to way he did, and by his own terms.
Thank you so much for doing these videos. Even though Vikings is not as big as these other big shows, you stuck with it and pumped out these amazing reviews. I hope to see you review other great shows, you can start off with Westworld or Fargo *wink*
I just watched how they massacared my boy...
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 truly enjoyed your commentary on this series.
I'm so glad!
honestly i would love to see videos of yours about other series
hope you get the chance and think about it!
Thank you for your commentaries . ❤️Farewell Vikings ❤️
Thanks for watching!
Great review as always skol
i watch the episodes and was thinking what is this. than i watch you reviews and the episodes got a way better than it was bevor. thanks for this
Ivar was already dead for almost a decade when that last battle took place, he died in Ireland
Hvitserk: let's take a dope break
Loved the summary of Vikings. You really kept our attention moving and I don't feel you let it all out of the bag. Thanks King you have added to Vikings and made it more real, full of heart and a vital. This story we can learn from, grow into and inspire the future after seeing how the will to 'remain viking' outgrows itself and evolves into the new something, uncertain and driven by a new energy..Personally the scene of Bjorn's final stand and Evor's final moment mattered a lot but Ragna's death mattered the most. Thanks Vikings
Vikings is not just a series, its an Emotion!
How old do you think each character was at the end because it feels like ivar was like 20 and had all this great legacy. Like Bjorn and Ragnar aged really well
I always thought it was funny how Ragnar looked like he aged 40 years in 4 seasons and lagertha just had her hair dyed grey
@@billymays4110 She didn’t dye it. It’s some sort of syndrome she had
What a journey it has been goodbye vikings 😢
Farewell heroes of the saga's, you made phenomenal television 😢
@@KingMckayA big shoutout to you for all the reviews you have made on vikings it was truly a masterpiece 👍
Thanks for the great videos!
Glad you like them!
I think the death of Ivar was showing the viewer how from the next world the viking gods fought in the battles, which Ivar was tapping into when it was time for him to die. he was participating in their swings
I think the writer wanted to express how the characters believed in the gods for all their life until where they start to question if they even exist, due to exploration and witnessing other cultures. Floki is the best example as he was one of the most who worshipped the gods day and night, now he doesn’t even want to hear their names. Just imagine rewatching the show with having the idea that the gods are not real. Truly a unique experience.
One of my all time favorite shows .. so good .. 💥💀
100% agree 💥💀
Agreed!! Skål🍻
I absolutely loved how they did the final words of Ubbe asking Floki if death was the end. The best and main theme of this show from the jump was religion and the afterlife so that was tied up well, another example being Ivar saying he was afraid while dying. Really powerful for a character so set in his ways to have doubts about the afterlife, really felt they took it full circle in so many ways and this finale was the most satisfying of any show I’ve seen. My only minor complaint would be Alfred and the English laying down their weapons and the battle just stopping, why is he showing any sort of reverence toward Ivar? Anyway thanks so much for giving us all a comprehensive understanding of the producers’s thinking the whole way. I missed all of your promo breakdowns this season which always got us so pumped each week but all of the reviews were great as always! Hail king McKay!!! Skol
Man I’m gonna miss this show and your breakdowns
So many good memories, glad I can see rewatch them when I wanna relive the Vikings experience!
I think part of why ivar emtered battle may have been to save hvitserk? Just before he did he was closely watching as hvitserk was being swamped by saxons shouting "its the son of ragnar". I dont think its the only reason, but i do think part of why he did was to take the heat of his brother who he could see was completely exhausted and soon would be killed, as he eas the only one left more famous than hvitserk. It also makes sense as their relationship had come full circle, they found love in each other out of all the hate. It also kind of makes sense for hvitserks prophecy as ivar died through saving him, therefore in a way he still killed ivar.
Floki is by far my favourite character in the series
He killed my favorite character:(
Ivar entered the battle because he got a memo from Hirst saying it's the last episode and you gotta die somehow.
But what about all my battle tactic brilliance, Ivar was to reply. You want me to just waltz on in in my condition and have me die?!
Hirst: Well, yeah. I gotta rap this thing up.
Hvitserk's joining the priesthood? He'll probably settle down as a used car salesman down the track.
DELETED SCENES. Ubbe & Floki on the beach.
Ubbe: Floki, was my plot as boring as your Iceland one?
Floki: he he he.....yeah....he he he.
haha wow
Now time to rewatch the entire series
Game of Thrones should take note, this is how you finish a great show lol. Also what amazing writing for everybody to actually like the villains and show that nobody thinks their the bad guys but we fell in love with the group that goes around raiding, murdering and raping but in their eyes they were the good guys and to us as well. I am going to miss the show so much and it's one of my favorite shows of all time. SKOL
haha agreed, GOT rushed their ending so badly that the end was just so whack. I saw alot of controversy on how it ended, and at first because of just how sad this season was, I wasn't happen with the end. Then after all my feelings were out I started to understand and saw other peoples views. I felt like the show ended empty like it all was for nothing, which is true, all the violence, wars, glory seeking, it was needless. but as you said we fell in love with them, so it broke my heart to see them all go, but they died with the show, which to me was that more impactful of an end
@@paulmulumba5046 the one thing I did love about GOT was it was the first show that really had nobody was to big to kill off and alot of the characters at the beginning that you think the show was about would be killed off and show would take a completely different turn. Well maybe there was the big three that you knew where going to the end but after the red wedding I learned that anybody could be killed and probably will be. Even though alot of people really hated the last season I didn't mind the big battles and you could tell that the show wasn't following the books because the ending they gave us made 75 percent of the story lines go unanswered but I thought I read somewhere that the writer hasn't finished the books yet so the last season was the TV people who wrote the last season which would makes sense why it took a big dive in quality once they took over.
Not sure if it was planned but I liked how at the end Floki and Ubbe's cloaked shoulders made a V for Vikings as the theme song began playing. Anyone catch that?
I felt sad when Ivar was saying "he's afraid" and his brother saying "Don't worry I won't tell". He was so fearless even up to his final moments. Even being fearless and brave all the time, its ok to be afraid. Thanks for the wrap up.
that had me choke up big time. This ruthless warrior with so much faith in the gods was really a lost, scared boy looking for purpose, maybe even to be truely loved.
@@mrmac6356 He was loved by Katia and Igor but remembers Ragner's words "happiness is nothing" and that was why he didn't stay in Kiev
Farewell Vikings! One of the greatest series I have ever had the pleasure to watch! Most are drinking with King Ragnar in Valhalla!👑🪓🏹🗡 SKO'L
Great Review
That music when Hitvserk converts... My god 🔥😎
I’m annoyed he converted
@@averageguy9549 I kinda of zoned out at the end. But I gotta say that his conversation truly encapsulated the theme of the season, the End of an Era, the Golden Age is over and sooner or later; the Viking world will be absorbed by the Tide of Christianity and the New Age.
I enjoyed the ending. Finding Floki and the new world made it more complete for me.
A truly great tv show and equally great reviews
It’s been a beautiful journey. ❤️
It may be a sunrise representing the new start to their life in the new land.
Stay tuned for Valhalla on Netflix
