Melissa pulls off these crazy & funny characters like no one else.
Like all of her sketches are some sort of version of this insane person it's amazing that it's so consistently funny i feel like she really shines on snl
Unfortunately her movies are always the “funny” fat chick who does way too many physical jokes. The latest movie was just awful. And it’s sad cause Melissa is really talented.

+Brent Smith well the point of the skit is to have the guest in the main role so i think it's safe to say quite a bit
+Nick Hackett Granted, but not every guest is as skilled at improvisation, and very often they can be seen obviously reading the cue cards (athlete guests, most notably).
When the other players are breaking that much, it would suggest they were surprised by Melissa's choices.

It's from the book "the Game" which teaches men to pick up women with techniques like "negging"- saying negative things to women to lower their confidence. Yeah it's stupid but it was so popular that they made a show about it on MTV which this skit is parodying.

Why are people freaking out about Leslie breaking character?? It always happens in the funniest sketches, and to me, it makes them funnier. Think about the sketch with Will Ferrell and his tiny phone, or Debbie Downer at Disney, or the Matt Foley Motivational Speaker sketch. All some of the best sketches ever on SNL (in my opinion) and the people in the sketch were CRACKING UP because it's FUNNY and when something is that funny you LAUGH!! It's human nature and, personally, I think it's more fun and far more relatable that way.

Breaking a character is funny when it's rare. But it's highly annoying and unprofessional when it always happens. Leslie and Jimmy Fallon are both unprofessional about that because they've done it all the time. They are really exaggerate the situation to look more funny.
(P.S. Of course I know Jimmy is not in the cast anymore. I was giving it as an another example.)

I love how Melissa was the only one not struggling to stay in character. Everyone else was ready to burst out laughing but she kept her composure.

If this was my first Leslie sketch I would be bawling with laughter, but after what feels like 10th time in less than a year, it gets exponentially old/worse
I dunno, the little breaks are too frequent in the sketch for me to think that its real. Who knows tho'. I mean in a lot of sketches Leslie appears in she keeps it well together. This is honestly one of the few times I've seen her break.

I was just waiting for a comment like this. Any sane person would be genuinely annoyed, even on a comedy show. Melissa's genuine fatal flaw may be that she's too much. The way she plays socially dysfunctional characters is too natural probably for this reason.
