Asus Officially Revealed The ROG ALLY X.…But there’s ONE Problem

- Finally the ROG Ally X has officially been revealed by ASUS, and it's straight up a SUPER ROG ALLY (All caps) form the analog sticks, to even the SSD you can use with it. This handheld system is a DREAM MACHINE! Lot's of people are excited about it, but with all the respect in the world, I may be delaying my purchase do to the RMA issues. Until we all get official word from ASU regarding these issues, I'll be on a tiny Boycott for as long as I resist this super Saiyan handheld...XD

I found a video on a RUclips and did a thermal pad mod to my Ally. Very easy and no issues with it at all after I did that. With that said completely agree that Asus should have done way more testing before releasing the Ally. This new one is nice for sure but I'm waiting til the next Z2 extreme chip to upgrade. Maybe it's Asus maybe someone else. We will see.
All you need is a 4Tb 2280 ssd and your good till ally 2
They should send all ally owners one for putting out a product knowing it was defective. That's the reason they released the ally x then except all of us to go and purchase a 800 dollar product that should have been put out in the first place. I'll wait for the second one

@@ThatAnnoyingGuy96 Improvement is a fantastic word. So Is lemon. The ROG Ally that fried my 1TB SD was a Lemon. They wont acknowledge the flaw. Thankfully I returned it to Best Buy. Still out 1TB Micro SD card. But fantastic Improvement 😁

I'm looking forward to a steam deck 2 that is waiting for much more powerful hardware to develop and I'm hoping for the same price as the original
I dumped the Ally after 2 days of having it because of the overheating issues!Even with the Ally X you won't see much difference in the performance to justify peeling off another $800 for it.The 2280 can be done with regular Ally,so it's a waste for just 8 gb of memory!
I'm pretty sure they've fixed the sd card slot
It's just broken solder joints from lead free solder at the slot.I have fixed 3 of them already with 60/40 and they're still going strong!
Bruh 8TB 2280 M.2 costs more than the Ally X

@@JamieR no , I travel a lot and sometimes the internet is trash so it just makes it easier to have it all loaded , and all my movies and stuff is really nice to have in one device.

The advertise says up to 1tb ssd 2:47, so i'm not sure how you want to put there 8tb
Yes, unlikely that it will support more then 2TB. This "reviewers" that don't understand shit about how technology works, think that the power requirement are the same for more memory chips and density. It is a handheld device, not your Desktop PC with 850W or more PSU!
That means what’s in the actual device…you can put a 4tb ssd in the original one.
Up to 1tb means up to what they give you In the device. You can just put an 8tb ssd in it

A “semi-boycott” sounds semi-gay to me. Why boycott them when they’ve already doubled the warranty to two years and offered full coverage for the sd card reader and sd cards that had problems.
The rma issues do not affect everyone, there are many people who haven’t had them. Also, steam deck had similar rma issues with one company valve contracted to do repairs, so it’s not unheard of and it will be fixed

Asus . Why do you guys get rid of the XG MOBILE . I was about to upgrade to the Ally X . But i have xg mobile 3080 and also 4090 . I am keeping my original ally . It is a lot more powerful than the USB 4 external gpu .. You guys need to bring back the xg mobile port when you release ally 2 . Seeiously. There are still lots of customers have the xg mobile .
But for now. I am leaning on not buying any more asus products in the future. I was a huge asus fan . But after this anti customer move and so many stories about their bad RMA customer services all over the world . I guess its wise to not support asus anymore .
