One of the high water marks of contemporary art, for sure. Glad to have been able to see it leap off the page in this way, Mr. Villeneuve did an incredible job with his team. Just beautiful.
I highly doubt most of the shots, if any, that were used in the eclipse sequence were shot during the actual eclipse. A partial eclipse like that would only last a few hours. I'm sure the scene, being a complicated action set piece, took days if not weeks to film. Also, it looks like the film's eclipse was closer to totality than the real eclipse they showed. Was the real eclipse inspiration? Perhaps.
They only used the one shot of the eclipse in the movie, but I guess they saw how the colours changed in the desert and used that as reference for colouring the opening sequence. At least that’s what I got from watching the making of footage.
@@LaneCarter I dont think anyone is saying that, the opening scene is pretty heavily edited lol, just the actual partial eclipse being real that they caught was cool, I'd assumed it was just CGI
I can't belive the emperor's palace isn't a specifically designed set, it's just a real building they put a desk in, like some student film. That's crazy, it looks so spectakular.
yeah sometimes real locations look crazier than anything you can build for a movie. reminds me of how all the naboo scenes in the star wars prequels are just nice italian villas lol
The thing with oppulance is that the more of it makes it cheesy. Just have a look at Bruneian palace souch gold in it that it become less classy @@seanhartel5362
@@seanhartel5362 me too. The location is great, but it does just look like architectural digest when all you do is throw in a couple pieces of furniture.
Best film of the year, one of my favorites of all time. Dune is the greatest Sci-Fi story ever created, and Villenuve perfectly brought it to life. Thank you Denis! You're work is amazing!
It still blows my mind that people are able to think up, plan, and execute something of such an extraordinarily monumental scale. I have no idea how one would even start to *think* about where to start. 🤯
His commitment to real sunlight and lighting in general is so cool to me, it's one of the most demanding aspects of on-set filmmaking and at times it almost sounds like it's going too far for the shot, but the results cannot be denied.
I cannot wait for next year's awards season...Dune is going to crush it!!!!!!! beautiful artistry from the director, cast and crew ,.... beautiful work
Beautiful Locations, They Should Look at Mauritania, Next For maybe the third Film. It is Extremely Underated Film Locatin, Just Saw The last Episode of the Grand Tour "Sand Job" And they Visit it, it Looks something Out of Dune.I Recomend the Producers to look into the Episode and see as it as somewhere where you could get some other worldly shots!
It's a shame they don't release the imax versions. It does the movie, the art, and the effort such a disservice to the majority of audiences who will never see it as it was meant to be seen... I hope they decide to release them.
Say what you will about how far VFX have come in the last 20 years, and how that has allowed filmmakers to bring to life shots they could only ever dream of before. But when it comes to immersion, nothing beats dropping your actors into the world they will be inhabiting. From detailed sets to shooting on-location, it goes so far in getting them into character and lending your film a sense of realism that no computer will ever be able to truly replicate.
Small prediction. The Dune trilogy will be one of the greats along with Lotr and Star Wars. And it will similarly have some rather mediocre sequals or prequals..
The cast, the score, the locations, sets, cinematography, the characters, the incredible attention to detail, the monumental beauty, did i mention the score? This is one of the best movies of all time - a true masterpiece. Lisan al Denis has rewritten the book on sci-fi movie making, he and everyone involved deserve every accolade which must surely follow. ᑐᑌᑎᕮ
The eclipse being real is really cool, stars really aligned for this movie to succeed

Absolutely on both fronts, what an eye-opener!🤯
Was hoping for more, honestly. It’s described as being very opulent. Was just kinda okay

"haaaayyy this looks like Duuuuuune!" Love Florence
Ok so the architecture was real, the locations were real, the ECLIPSE was real... That's amazing, I wouldn't be surprised if the worm was real too.
Bruh, they're real... they got a fat paycheck

A yes DUNE STRIKES BACK
I remember another trilogy that gave off the same feeling of a great movie
One of the most incredible sequels ever, with one of the best crews and casts ever and the most beautiful shots ever. Denis, you're amazing
BEST SEQUEL OF THE YEAR!!!!!!
Best film, clearly.
OF ALL TIME…
🤲🏽
It’s not a sequel
Its not supposed to be a sequel, its just two parts of one book. I've watched both together and its an epic 5.5hr as one film
Bedt sequel ever
We would like to have a one-hour version of this behind the scenes 🤯
I would say 2 hours making of for each film ... so 3 × 2 hours ... minimum !
When it comes to Dune: I don't care what you believe, I BELIEVE.

i'm glad i was able to watch this amazingly beautiful movie
What a movie! The crew deserves more credit; they took it to another level. I was so emotional and inspired at the same time after watching Dune 2.
The eclipse was real?? That’s wild. Captured such beautiful moments and places.
Some of the best filmmaking ever. Phenomenal!

WB rocking this year 🎇
WB is the reason we didn't get an IMAX version at home.
I love this film so so much it hurts
Catching an actual eclipse on film is INSANE! What an amazing detail!
The water on 'Arakkis' wasn't CGI?? It was real? Such amazing locations!
wonderful set, as written..
KEEZ LAHAH!
My favorite movie of all times
A film from another world.
I haven't felt so amazed at the production of a movie since Lord of The Rings 20 years ago. Dune is on a league of its own.
Denis and Greg always give that cool, calm engaging look with their films !!!
I can't wait for DUNE: MESSIAH and THE BATMAN 2 !!!
During the same time on the other side of the mountains in Jordan, another masterpiece called "Aadujeevitham" was being shot.
Dune!!
LISAN AL GAIB!!
Love this behind the scenes! …spectacular surroundings for this movie….
Best movie everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i think Dune is as revolutionary as The Matrix.
I can get behind that. Matrix might not have been the first to do cyberpunk but Matrix did it best
Absolutely amazing, the level of dedication is admirable
I love that Javier is hyping the beauty of the filming locations as much as Stilgar is hyping Paul.
More of these please.

In IMAX its a life experience.
Warner, why you guys don't let available the subtitles in the videos? It would help so much to understand... 😢

The fact that the ECLIPSE WAS REAL not only blows my mind but clearly proves the gods, too, intended this movie to be made. As it was written.
